"Well for starters I'm not from Earth...Wait...You're just immediately going for it?!...I can't work in that span of time!...And you want me to just do that out in the open?!...Whatever happened to subtlety?" Jessica turned to Ness and rather frantically spouted, "Tophat needs a portal right out in the open in front of the hotel at Shantaio! Right now apparently. Can you do that?"

 

[DotSlash]

Ness looked a little shocked as she thought for a moment. [color=ff4599] "Huh...!? Is it insane!? This is going to make this disguises completely worthless... unless... Alright, I've got an idea, cover your eyes until I tell you to open them again, ok?" [/color] She turned toward the Rookie. [color=ff4599] "That includes you, Corporal. This ball's going to act as our only cover..." [/color]

The girl slipped on her glove and created a rather large light ball and already had her other finger ready to cause it to burst as she prepared to make the portal. [color=ff4599] "We've only got one shot at this... and this is the hotel you were staying in right...? Otherwise, I might end up portaling us to the wrong place... and then Tophat might be screwed." [/color]

 

[Kirke]

The Rookie nodded and polarized his visor more, so the ball of light made it like the room was ordinarily well lit.

 

[Chungus]

Given that Tophat was assaulting a fifteen-year old screaming girl in a city on high alert, it didn't take long for MPs to arive on the scene, fifteen in total. As the stormed through the entrance of the hotel, they recognised Tophat's body from reports, and as such, didn't even give a warning, rather imediately took positions, with them spread around the lobby of the hotel in a cresent circle surrounding Tophat, and each launching a small fireball.

Loki had arived earlier, but not wanting to blow his cover, first walked up the stairs, lifting his shroud at the top.

Jessica shielded her exposed eye with her left hand and gave Ness a thumbs up with her right. "Yep. Looks like the same hotel from before. Ready when you are."

 

[DotSlash]

Ness nodded before opening a portal in the lobby of the hotel and throwing the light ball inside. She then shot the ball through the portal and covered her eyes, causing the ball to burst into an absurd, blinding flash of white light that completely filled the ground floor and even made it up to the second floor, though much less intense. The room of the hotel Jess, Ness and the Rookie were in was no exception. Anyone unsuspecting would be horribly blinded by the light. (I'll say this lasts for 3 turns.)

After the flash, Ness waved over toward Tophat from her portal, pointing toward the fireballs. [color=ff4599] "Look out!!" [/color]

[color=ff4599] "Alright, guys. Move quickly, we don't have much time." [/color] She said to Jess and Rookie as she walked through and summoned a tranq rifle, firing four shots toward the MPs.

Rita had no time to defend herself and fell into a battered and bruised heap on the floor, unconscious.

 

[Kirke]

Tophat rolled towards the portal as the fireballs flew against it, throwing its cloak to block some and throwing the small bag with itself towards Ness. However, five fireballs hit, which made Tophat's body burn. The regeneration started, which kept the fire at bay for the moment.
"Trooper, grab the mage! Everyone, non lethal!"

The Rookie ran forward, firing bursts against three of the MPs shoulders and arms before grabbing Rita. He fired supressive fire while hoisting her up on his shoulder.

Having nothing she could actually add to the current proceedings, Jessica elected to stay in the hotel room and keep out of everyone else's way, standing off and away from the portal.

 

[Chungus]

Tree of the MP were tranqued, while four others were shot in the shoulder by Rookie. The eight MPs hadn't been disabled by either of those things were still blinded. Given that they couldn't aim, but weren't about to let their targets escape so easily, unleashed strong gale directly infront of themselves, intending to blow their targets up against the wall opposite the entrance.

Having been upstairs, the flash didn't bother Loki all that much. He quickly made his way downstairs, were he struggled to remain standing due to the strong winds blowing in the room.

With the MPs blowing her away, Ness acted quickly and quickly closed the portal and reopened it, causing it to become large enough to catch her, Rookie and Rita as the gale shoved them into it. She calmly grabbed Tophat's bag as she was thrown back, firing another two tranq shots. "Let the wind blow you back, Corporal!"

Turning to Jess on the other side of the portal, Ness quickly turned off her modulator and called out "Look out, Jess!" as she flew through the portal and slammed into the wall of their hotel room. She'd wait until the Rookie and Rita flew through until she closed the portal again.

 

[Kirke]

The Rookie nodded to Ness before letting the wind send him flying through the portal together with Rita. He made sure to land with Rita over him, so she wasn't crushed by him.

While Tophat itself came through the portal, it's body did not. Instead it smashed against the far wall in the hotel with a broken spine. It quickly began to heal, but did not act in any way.
(To Jessica, Ness & the Rookie: I apologise for the rushed nature of this attack, but I was running out of time. I think the gains outweigh the losses though.)

Jessica grew confused and worried for a moment as Ness' portal suddenly closed, then simply confused as it opened back up again. When Ness and the other flew through the portal Jessica started humming to herself as she focused on them. A shimmering field of magenta surrounded them and slowed down their movement, not enough to prevent them from slamming up against the wall entirely, but reducing the force of the blow at least. She turned off her own voice modifier and asked, "Everyone alright?"

 

[DotSlash]

Ness slid down the wall, breathing a little heavily. "A little shook up, but yeah, I'm fine. And thanks for slowing us down a bit. We might have busted through the wall otherwise. Looks like Rita's not doing as well though." She said as she noted her bruises. She prepared herself as she went to slowly help heal the girl.

"You really know how to scare a lady, Tophat. " She mentally answered back to Tophat as she placed him on the bed before tending to Rita.

 

[Kirke]

(To Ness, Jess & the Rookie: Her bruises are from me punching her to knock her out. A tad brutal, but effective. Oh, and I must thank James. Without him, I'd be dead.)
The Rookie sat against the wall, and grunted slightly in response to Tophat.
(To Ness: I am sorry. I last knew Loki's position some time ago, so I felt that time was growing short.)

 

[Chungus]

Loki walked further into the lobby of the hotel, struggling against the winds, he spotted the portal moments before Ness, Rookie and the unconscious Rita going through it, then closing. My suspicions were confirmed... he thought, clenching his fist in annoyance. Once the MPs recovered from the flare, they stopped their wind spells. "Search they area!" the leader of the squad commanded upon seeing their targets had for the most part escaped.

"Do not bother. They are in this city no longer." Loki commented as he walked towards the MPs.

"And who are you?"

"One working for the crown. I have been enlisted to these aid in the elimination of the enemies of the state, among other things."

Not convinced, five of the MPs followed their leader's orders, while one remained to heal the wounded. Once healed, the MPs that were shot in the shoulder went over and carried away Tophat's body. "I don't quite buy that story." the leader remarked towards Loki, who's eyes narrowed in major irritation.

"I am not in the mood for this nonsense. Those people abducted one of my ascociates. if you wish to confirm my claims, check with your superior. Now if you would excuse me, I have matters I need attend to." With a indignant hmph, Loki left, heading towards the palace.

 

[DotSlash]

Ness sighed a bit before continuing with Rita, not making much progress. "Well... I'm pretty sure I saw a glimpse of Loki before we popped out here... So going back to Xiphatia is a big no-no now. ...And obviously Loki knows this too. And given he's connected with the crown over there, it's only a matter of time before the large-scale wars start up again. ...So what do we do now...?"

 

[Kirke]

(To Ness, Jess & the Rookie: While we could attempt to undo the mind-control on those who have been afflicted, that would only be a temporary solution. I suggest we gain the assistance of Legaia and prepare to strike down Loki. Once we've done that, we can work on bending both contries to peace. I would hope that with Loki dead, all mind-control he has inflicted gets broken.)

"That's good to hear." Jessica breathed a sigh of relief. She reached around in her messenger bag and pulled out her canteen, then remembered that she had used up the last of health rations and frowned. She stuffed her canteen back into her bag and sat down in a chair with a sigh. "Okay, so the question is how do we go about getting Legaia's assistance?"

Ness sighed as she finished up healing Rita to the best of her ability, leaving only a few small bruises on her person. Turning back to Tophat, she shrugged. "For the question of getting Legaia's assistance, the only thing I can really think of is appearing where he strikes next and helping to defend. Once we do that, they won't have a reason to deny us joining the army or they might be more inclined to let us speak to the higher-ups."
