Having reached the palace, Loki demanded an audience with Estella. With his most pressing objective being making certain of it his last remaining asset didn't suffer the same fate as Rita, he ordered golems be delivered to the temple to ensure his protection, and as Amalia herself had given word that Loki was to be given whatever resources he wished for, this is exactly what he got. Ten golems, consisting two of each element, were loaded onto an airship, which Loki himself boarded also. Once loaded, the airship set out towards the temple.

Loki also had Estella order sections of the palace be refurnished drastically, knowing this would thwart Jessica's making portals there.

Tophat's body was taken to an execution chamber in one of the smaller prisons, where it would be given a lethal injection. Should this not kill it, more drastic measures would be taken to ensure it died.

As Rita had been knocked unconscious and so released from Loki's control, when she would wake up, she would have a migraine.

 

[Kirke]

(To Ness, Jess & the Rookie: Between us, we have quite the array of skills. Skills that would certainly be useful to them. If we promise to eliminate the Xiphatian leadership, not technically a lie, I think they'd be inclined to assist us.)

The body didn't die from the injection, and if simply cut it would regrow. However, if the head was removed, it would die.

"Not to sound like I'm just crapping on everyone else's ideas, but I'm not really sure how either of those would work." Jessica replied to Ness and Tophat. "Like, for starters, how are we going to find out where and when and what Loki does next? And how do we explain what we can do to a Legaian officer without just immediately getting arrested for it?"

 

[Kirke]

(To Jessica, Ness & the Rookie: Why would they arrest us, when it is much more favourable for them to use us? We'll let them believe we are used, while in reality we are furthering our own goals. As for locating Loki... If we threaten his remaining companions, he will come to us. Then it is a matter of making sure he doesn't flee.)

Ness looked over toward Jess and nodded a bit. "...We'd have to arrive late basically... either that or hope that Rita knows something when she wakes up. But we definitely can't explain anything magic to them or we'll be done..."

 

[Chungus]

The airship landed on the ground at the foot of the mountain on which the temple was built. Once the golems were unloaded, Loki ordered the crew of the airship to stay put, knowing that they wouldn't take too kindly to seeing what Nybeth worked on. Leading the golems towards the lake, the two water golems froze a section of it, large enough for the ten golems to stand on. After all the golems stood on it, Loki climbed on one of them, after which the golems were raised the towards the balcony on a pillar of ice.

"Nybeth. I bring a gift. And wish to discuss our next move." Loki called out.

 

[Drakmorg]

Jessica pointing over at Ness as she answered Tophat. "What she said. They'd just arrest us as soon as we so much as let on we know anything at all about magic." She leaned forward and rested her chin in the palm of her hand. "As for threatening Loki's allies, that means either going back to Shantaio, or dealing with a necromancer." She glanced over at Ness again and nodded as she replied to her, "Asking Rita's probably a good idea. Loki never really told me much, but I don't know if he might have told her anything more or not."

Nybeth's attention was drawn to Loki as his sentries took notice of him. He met him at the balcony overlooking the lake. Nybeth had a look of slight confusion as he noticed that the red-haired girl whose name he had never bothered to learn that was usually glued to Loki's side wasn't there anymore. However, he ultimately didn't care enough to ask about it. "Oh? And what would that be?"

 

[Chungus]

"Aditional sentries." Loki answered as the ice pillar reached the balcony, after which Loki climbed down from the golem he was on and stepped on the balcony, then making room for the golems to follow, which they did, still in pairs of two. Once the two water golems stepped off, the ice pillar began to melt. "Since those that have defected can teleport to nigh on any location they please, I thought you could do with added protection. Henceforth, these construct are yours to command." he explained, walking further into the temple. "As for the next plan of attack, it involves the same tactics we employed on that Legaian base so long ago, but on a far grander scale. You see, the thought had struck me that the metal known as mythril amplifies magic, as such, I believe it is posible to amplify the potency of your gas should it be stored within a mythril container."

Ness sighed a bit. "Rita seemed the closest to Loki out of all of us, so it's the best chance at insider information we've got. And honestly, with us just taking Rita back, he's going to up the security around his other mind controlled assets. I wouldn't be surprised if he was setting up a defense around the necromancer right now."

 

[Kirke]

(To Jessica, Ness & the Rookie: I am not so certain about that. I mentioned to Legaian military and medical staff that I was a magical artefact, and no action was taken against me. They were uneased, but if we mention that we are not from this world, I do not see why they would refuse assistance. In any case, this will need to wait until after we've gotten information from Rita. This has been a long day, and I've used my phsycic powers far too much. Good night.)

The Rookie was already asleep, sitting against the wall.

Nybeth seemed fairly indifferent to the golems as Loki brought them into the temple and announced his intent for them. "And why exactly would we need to amplify the strength of my Poison Cloud spell?"

"Well he'd have to be pretty stupid not to at this point." Jessica replied to Ness. She leaned as far back in her chair as she could, then addressed Tophat. "Or they could just think we're lying about being from another world and arrest us anyway. We'd need some pretty solid evidence that we aren't 'locals' before we think about trying that."

 

[Chungus]

"Efficiency." Loki answered. "A larger poison gas cloud means a higher death toll, one that would take far less effort on our part. This would of course need testing before actual use, so I ask you accompany me now to do just that."

 

[Drakmorg]

"I was hoping more for an answer along the lines as to why we require more potent toxic bombs in the first place. What exactly is it we intend to accomplish with these improved devices?"

 

[DotSlash]

Ness raised an eyebrow toward Tophat. "...He sleeps? And I think showing off my digistruct might make it clear that we're not from this world. And they already know me as Reiss. They also know I'm not of this world, so I could just say I knew you all from where I was from... which isn't a total lie. I just have to make sure I'm not using my modulator since they wouldn't recognize me otherwise."

 

[Chungus]

"To force Legaia into submission. I have no intention of investing as much time in conquering Legaia as I did Xiphatia, as such, I mean to use these theoretical improved bombs on the general population. Once the death toll reaches numbers never before seen, and it become apparent how woefully inapt Legaia is in protecting its citizens, what choice would remain them if not kneel and beg for mercy. Unconventional this may be, but I very much doubt it would be anything but brutally effective." Loki explained, then turned around looking out over the skyline towards the east. "The capital beyond our reach, our first target would be Fourside. Depending on how great a reach the cloud would have, and where they are positioned, I imagine the death toll reaching the... hundreds of thousands."

 

[Drakmorg]

"Good thinking." Jessica replied to Ness. "I suppose me not covering up my arm anymore would at least lend a bit more credence to that claim." She started unraveling the bandage cover on her right arm as she spoke.

Nybeth hummed to himself as he performed some mental calculations. "I have managed to get my hands on some mythril and test its effects on my spell-casting capability. Enlarging the bomb to prove fatal to such a large number would require a massive amount of mythril."

OOC: I require food. BBL.

 

[Chungus]

"Posibly... Perhaps quantity over quality would be the best option if this were the case. Refitting the explosive devices already available would be much simpler then having a new one created. Furthermore, having too large a bomb would make me incapable of shrouding it, making things that much more complicated." Loki pondered aloud, then turned back to Nybeth. "Eitherway. Thinking on this much further is futile without test results to base further theories on."

 

[Furioso]

Once Rita woke up she looked around before feeling the pain of her migraine, at which point she began holding her head in pain.

Ness nodded toward Jess as she unwrapped her bandages. "Probably... we'll need to be careful about how we do things from here on out." Seeing Rita wake up and clutch her head, Ness waved toward her. "Hey... Sorry about the headache..."

 

[Drakmorg]

Nybeth nodded in reply to Loki. "Indeed. We must still work on proper testing. How are we to go about acquiring test materials?"

[hr]

"Yeah, that's a given. I think I really need to get an actual coat or jacket or something for if we ever have to go into Xiphatia. The bandages just don't cut it without making me look sketchy." Seeing that Rita seemed to be waking up, she lowered her voice a bit and said, "But I can deal with that later on my own time."
