Yeager had a devilish grin on his face. "Ohoho, is that so? This intrigues me, where might I go to have a look at some of your armaments, perhaps talk to someone in your military?" questioned Yeager.

"There are military outposts in most of the major cities. Calibeth City's has the leaders of the military, including Prince Califorth."

Yeager clapped his hands together. "Ah then fate truly smiles upon me! You have been most helpful today, I have just one more request, could you tell me how to get to where this Prince Califorth is?" asked Yeager.

"That is probably a good idea. It seems like you really need to know what you can show and what not." Anik said, hoping she would find out more information about this heart.

Cybil walked up and hailed the guards in a friendly manner. "Excuse me sirs, but do you have a few moments to answer some questions?"

The guards stopped and looked at Cybil. "Of course. How can we help?" one of them asked.
"You can get to Calibeth City on the river barges, but they don't take passengers. So you'd have to get a job on one of them. Or you can just walk alongside the river." Father Ysha replied. "But you might not be able to meet with the Prince."
"Yeah. Wouldn't want to spend the rest of my time in this world in some jail cell." Matilda replied. "Or worse."

"Ja I know speaking to royalty tends to be a difficult thing, but you can let me worry about that one. Anything else I should know before I take my leave?" asked Yeager.

"I just got into this country and heard something about sorcery being illegal, but the man in the temple over there set the tower on fire by bleeding on a sword. Could you please explain what kind of magic is actually illegal?" Cybil asked the guard politely.

"Oh, I suppose that might seem confusing to outsiders." one guard replied. "Sorcery is illegal but miraclework isn't. We believe the altering of reality is something only deities should do. Sorcery is the altering of reality without the input of a deity."

"Uh huh." Cybil hummed to herself as she listened to the guard. "So, how do you go about differentiating sorcery from 'miraclework'? And what's the typical punishment for doing sorcery?"
"No idea whut that would be all about."

Robin considered taking his tome out of his backpack and writing notes on all this, but ultimately decided pulling out what was quite obviously a grimoire right now would be a bad idea.

OoC: Trilby's off for the night. I gotta go too. Sorry.

Yeager stood up to leave. "Well then I think our business here is concluded. I thank you dearly for your help and hospitality, and wish you luck with your duties. Auf wiedersehen!" Unless stopped for some reason Yaeger would head out in search of an inn, paying for a room with gold pieces.

During her note writing, she decided to make a forward. Two thoughts had surfaced in her head. One was that she didn't know if and when her sisters would be able to get her back, and she needed to get cash to survive in the world. The other was that she didn't entirely like the idea of delivering the foundations of steam technology all in one package to a new society. It had been plaguing her ever since she was commissioned to do this assignment. The implications of influencing a society like this were extraordinary. Thoughts about how other revolutionary new ideas came about and changed her world stirred in her angrily; The use of fire, then metallurgy, gunpowder, steam, electricity, atomic energy, quantum mechanics, gravitational warping, and the unified field theory all seemed to have yin-yang qualities to them. In her forward, she felt she needed to address something.

Dear Engineers, Merchants, and soon to be Scientists

I present this knowledge to you from another world. New ideas have always been spreading from culture to culture on my world from outsiders. And that's how I'm presenting this to you. On my world there have been many advancements in technology. So much so, that I can say with confidence that for every advancement there is always an associated risk that no one can foresee happening in the future. But with it there's always been a new power to do good and evil. On my world, there is a concept called 'Yin-Yang', which simply is about the dichotomy and dependency of positive and negative values; You cannot have one without the other. Take it with great care.

The data I'm showing to you also employs a methodology that I'm not sure is in your world. It's called the scientific method. On my world it has done us a great good. It's used to shatter ignorance as long as one withdraws their beliefs to realize the truth. It's done as follows:

-Observe something happen, a phenomena that's unknown.
-Create a hypothesis as to why it might be happening.
-Construct and execute a repeatable test for the hypothesis. This test must be repeatable under the same conditions to produce the same results.
-Gather the data and compare it to the hypothesis.
-Question whether or not the hypothesis is correct. If it wasn't, which is most likely the case, then revise the test. Repeat the process until all possibilities have been thoroughly explored. Science is a self-correcting and forgiving process.
-What comes out of all this is pure, hard evidence of what happens in the world. It is objectively the truth. Present these results so that others might benefit.

Your world might behave differently than my world. That's why I encourage people to test these ideas before any applications should be tried.

Good Luck.
Emily Mason.

"If you don't mind me asking: can you do something that could be interpreted as magic?" Anik asked Matilda while they were following Robin.

"Well, there's a few signs. If they're using sky-metal, then they'll have to carry that around. And sky-metal glows when you use it to perform sorcery." one of the guards replied. "If they're not using sky-metal, it's their eyes that glow."
"And, we can look at religious texts to see if what the suspect did matches known miracles." the other guard added. "Or, we can search their home for books about sorcery."
"We don't really know how well these guidelines work, though. Sorcery has only been illegal for a few months, and we've only had a single case here in Palladein." the first guard continued. "As for the punishment, I can't say. The military takes sorcerers up to Vala. A few people think they get executed, but we could do that here, so that doesn't make sense."
Yeager would only need a single gold coin to pay for his room, and would be given 22 silver coins as change. He would also be informed that the cost covered food for the duration of his stay.
"Well, I can tell when someone is lying And I can sense if they're a good person, would be the best way to put it." Matilda replied. "Plus some other stuff. I don't really know everything I can do."

With nothing else really to do for the moment, Hillary looked over to the men on the boat and called out to them. "Hey over there! Whatcha guys doing on that boat?"

Matilda would have noticed that Anik had spoken a mixture of half-truths and lies when talking to Heno, like she was very careful to hide whom she had served and what her role had been.

"That's interesting. I can do similar things, although I think you can be much more powerful.

Now that might seem a weird question, but do you know if there was something unusual happening when you were born?"

She carefully avoided coming too close to Matilda.

The two men on the boat stopped rowing, and looked over towards Hillary. "We're bringing goods up the river to Calibeth City." one of them replied, the boat slowing down considerably.
"Well, I've got a sword-shaped birthmark on my back. And I was born blind. But other than that, I can't think of anything." Matilda replied.
