Hillary let out a loud sigh and then shook her head. "It's okay..." She said, accepting Anik's apology. "It's just it would be like me asking you if a gumi tree feels healthy or not. It would be really hard to do." She said as she looked at the two.

"But you can't wear both of them at the same time, can't you? You wouldn't be able to move if you tried that." Hillary answered Anik's question, feeling like buying both seemed rather strange.

 

[Silence]

"I don't know exactly ... but I think my ancestors just read a lot of human stuff, and heard recordings? And then decided it was useful to have more words than just squeak language." Speedy said.

"You are right there, Hillary." she said, then laughed heartily. "No, I don't want to wear them at the same time. I would wear the white one most of the time, but if it gets really cold, I could use the other one. And the other one makes me look completely different, doesn't it? So I just needed some scarfs, and nobody would know I am human. So I could wear them in Vesh.
And if you don't like me buying both, I need to decide. And deciding is hard!"

 

[Zepherus14]

"Well if you aren't wearing it, you could lose it right?" Hillary suggested, not quite saying 'no don't buy the second coat' but more 'why bother buying two coats if you're just going to have to carry the silly thing around all the time.'

"What's a scarf anyways?" Hillary asked, realizing she had no idea what Anik was talking about.

 

[Slenn]

"Huh... interesting. But what were these monsters that killed all the humans? And what have your revival units brought back so far?"

 

[Godzillarich(aka tf2godz)]

"Monster?" The doctor said as he turned his head towards them.

 

[Silence]

"Well, if I lose it, I lose all my other stuff too. Otherwise I would just carry it in my bag. Hmm... and I need something to sleep in when it is colder. I like the idea of buying both more and more, just tell me if you can think of something that speaks against it. Do you think I could disguise myself as something else with only this coat?" Anik said, weighing her options. "You will see what a scarf is. It is kind of like my blindfold" she pointed at it, "just thicker and warmer. A long piece of cloth, and you can wear it in different ways."

"We don't know what these monsters were! The humans did not write about them, they just vanished! And the logical conclusion was that they were eaten by monsters. Otherwise they would have had time to write about why they went away, right? Old hamster tales sometimes say that these monsters were very evil. and they had big tooth, and they had no fur!" Speedy said, showing the lack of knowledge about these monsters. "The revival units have brought back small animals, like caterpillars, and butterflies, and some other insects, and ... I think they were working on cows, but they were not ready when I left."

 

[Godzillarich(aka tf2godz)]

"Whatever it was it killed almost every living thing on the Planet Including insects. then how did your kind survived?" The doctor asked speedy

 

[Slenn]

"These monsters sound like a giant naked mole rat with one large incisor. I wonder what wiped them all out if they killed all the humans." She rubbed her chin as she looked at the sky. "Do you guys primarily live above ground? How big are your populations?"

 

[Zepherus14]

"Hmm...." Hillary thought for a while before clapping her hands. "Oh, oh you could disguise yourself as a big walking coat! You could put that bit over your head and then no one would be able to see you!"

"Why would I wanna put something like that over my face if I can see though? Or are scarfs just a warmer blindfold?" She asked innocently.

 

[Silence]

"We dug holes and hid underground" Speedy said to the doctor, as if it was self-evident. "But we were not the only species that survived, we just are the most. Many insects have survived, actually, I was talking about the ones that did not. After all, we needed something as blueprint!
Mole rats? Moles did survive, but I don't think they were capable of building monsters. They are all very nice.
We live partly over ground and partly under ground. Above ground is mostly highways, we live in lairs. And our populations are very big, I can't count them all!"

"What bit do you mean? The hood?" Anik asked, and did put it over her head. "But wouldn't people wonder what is beneath it?

And no, you wouldn't put it over your face. That's why it is a scarf, and not a warmer blindfold. You put them around your neck, and then it is really warm. You'll see." With that, deciding she just could not leave the white coat, Anik shortly whistled a tune, to get an incredibly rough picture of the shop, and walked around a little bit, searching for smaller coats for Hillary. She touched the clothes around her while doing so, to know better what they were.

She stopped at smaller coats, felt for a good texture, and said: "So, Hillary, do you want to try this on?"

Robin was writing all this in his book, scribing Speedy's history.

"Hmm..." Hillary thought as she looked under the hood from her view. "Maybe the hood isn't as good a disguise as I thought it would be... I can still see you." Hillary lamented. "Ya! Maybe if you add a scarf that will fix it!" Hillary said as she started following along, looking for a scarf of some sort.

"Huh?" Hillary stopped abruptly when Anik asked her question, then looked to the coat. "Uh, sure..." She said with little confidence. "How, should I put it on?"

Meltha - Day 3 : 13:15

"I don't know exactly, but I'd say around 10 hours, minimum." the man replied, thinking carefully. "Though, that's assuming you don't stop to rest and can handle the terrain and the weather."

East Northern Road - 14:25

The group traveling from the village would reach the crossroads. To their east was the city of Meltha, its fires making it visible in the distance.

 

[Silence]

"Just like I did put on mine. You did watch that, right?" Anik said, pulled out the coat, and held it towards Hillarys heart/voice.

 

[Gearhead mk2]

Robin looked east to Meltha. "We could detour there before moving on, see if there's anything useful there..." He suggested to the group.

 

[Zepherus14]

"Ya I did." Hillary said as she took the coat, and looked it over. "Ya like that!" She said excitedly as she got one sleeve on, then realized that it was the wrong sleeve when she tried the other one. "That's not right..."

After a while though, Hillary would manage to get the coat on properly, although with none of the zippers or fastening. "I did it!" She proudly proclaimed with her hands up in the air.

Meltha - Day 3 : 13:15​

Timea let out a small hmm as she thought about what time it could be by the time she and the troupe would reach Femesh Daer, judging it would be late evening. After going over this, she asked, "On the topic of terrain, and tying in on things I should be mindful of; what is the terrain like? I've looked at maps of the area, but those didn't show what the area is like, other than where the roads go."

 

[Slenn]

EMily let out a small chuckle.
"I can imagine why it would be hard to count. But your world sounds fascinating. I hope your kind might be able to solve some of its mysteries." She cleared her throat. "Do you have any questions about where I'm from?"

 

[Silence]

Meltha - Day 3 : 13:22

Anik did a click, then said: "I think it is great! It fits you perfectly. How do you like it? Do you feel different?" She felt for the buttons on the coat (because zippers don't exist there, psst), and started closing the top ones. "You can close it, too, but it's not that important. The most important thing is that you like the feeling."

"I hope so too!" Speedy said, then thought a while. Then he asked: "Do you have monsters on your world? And how far is science? Can you create explosions and fly at rocket speed?"
