North Eastern Road - Day 14 - 5:42

Anik listened to Hillary, feeling kind of sad for her, far more than for herself. Not knowing what to say, she kept silent. In this case, it was quite lucky that she could not see Hillary deforming, as it would have worried her again.

Not knowing what else to do, she put her arms on Timeas head while being carried, then took them off again, and asked: "... do you mind if I do that?"

North Eastern Road - Day 14 - 5:42​

Timea gave a nod to Hillary, then continued on walking.

"I don't feel free", she answered Anik reassuringly after she asked her question. "If anything, it's handy. I won't have to hold your legs this way."

North Eastern Road - Day 14 - 5:57​

After 15 minutes of walking, Timea let out a "hmm", thinking for a moment. "I feel like having a nice distraction. Those tricks you do, Anik - you called them acrobatics? - do you feel like doing some?"

Anik, having put her arms on Timeas head, relaxing this way, answered, kind of slowly: "Hmm. I kind of don't really feel like doing them right now. But if you want to see them ... maybe I can do a few?"

"Oh, well. You don't have to do so right this instance, if you don't feel like it", Timea responded, feeling a little disappointed. "Maybe you could do a few when we reach Vala, after hunting, and before it's time to eat?"

"Alright. This sounds good." Anik said and smiled, even though Timea could not see it.

The mercenaries slowly drew their weapons, with some of the archers aiming arrows at Quan Chi's back and head. "And why would we do that?" the leader of the mercenaries asked.

Vala Area - Day 14 - 8:20​

After roughly two more hours of walking, the party reached Vala, marking the border between plains and desert. By the time, Timea would have set Anik down, carrying Hillary, instead.

"Okay. We're here", Timea announced, stopping. Bending through her knees, she allowed Hillary to climb off, and rose back to her full height after she did. "Now, I'm not actually sure what kind of animals live in this general area. But going on an educated guess, we should be able to catch something good.

Shall we get searching, or does anyone need a rest?"

 

[Silence]

Vala Area - Day 14 - 8:20

"No, I think I'm good. Let us start searching." Anik stated. "Hopefully there are some hares here, or something similar.

I ... want to try to hunt something by myself, and you only give say me what I need to know."

She used the cane to feel around the ground, then added, furrowing her brow: "Is there some place I could put my things before we start?"

Quan Chi brought his hands down, forcing g the leader to drop to his knees and holding him there. "I will emerge victorious. Fighting would just waste time for us all."

Lestha - Day 11 - 20:41

When Quan Chi forced the leader down, the others all moved to attack. Those with swords and axes prepared to move in, while the archers all shot at his head, the attacks coming from behind as well as in front. A few of the Vesh'Rah mercenaries began using sorcery, one blasting Quan Chi with gusts of winds, after the arrows were shot, while another began creating spikes of ice from the water vapour in the air, which he would launch at Quan Chi's torso if given the opportunity.

As soon as the mercenaries began their attack, Quan created another portal under himself, dodging the projectiles. He reappeared behind an archer, sword drawn, and tried stabbing him through the neck.

Vala Area - Day 14 - 8:20​

"That's by and large what we have been doing, hasn't it?" Timea commented, letting out a small laugh, while looking around the area to see if there was a good place to stash Anik's things. Finding one not long after, she said, "Either way, there are some rocks nearby, towards our left. See if you can find them."

Looking to the left, Timea had her eye on a collection of large stones, some 30 metres away.

Vala Area - Day 14 - 8:20

"Yes ... in some way. I don't know." Anik said, not knowing exactly what she wanted.

"I'll go look for them." Anik said, turned left and walked towards them, clicking, but also using her cane. She hit the rocks soon enough with it. Getting to her knees and feeling them, she turned her head and called back towards TImea: "Did you mean these?"

Vala Area - Day 14 - 8:22​

With her hands on her hips, Timea followed Anik, scanning the area to see if she could find any animal tracks, not seeing any yet. When Anik reached the rocks, Timea look back to her. "That's right", she confirmed. "Put your bag in between the larger ones, and a few lighter ones on top. That should be inconspicuous enough."

 

[Silence]

Vala Area - Day 14 - 8:22

"Alright." Anik said. She felt around for a bit, to find a good spot, then put her bag there. Feeling around on the ground, she found some smaller rocks, and piled them on top of her bag.

As she felt the top of it and did not really manage to get her hands in between the rocks to feel her bag, she got up, and asked: "Does it look good, now?"

The mercenaries looked around cautiously when Quan Chi vanished, then focused on him when his portal opened up. The ice sorcerer sent his frozen spears flying towards Quan Chi, through the body of the dead archer that Quan Chi had killed.

Vala Area - Day 14 - 8:22​

"Yes, that's just right. Any more rocks, and it'll be too obvious you've covered something. In the darkness, no one will notice this, unless they're right on top of it", Timea confirmed, then began walking westwards. "So, let's go!"

Vala Area - Day 14 - 8:38​

After 16 minutes of walking, Anik would sense a number of tiny hearts belonging to small rodents, arachnids, and insects. To the north, she would sense hearts belonging to a type of ram, three in total. Further to the west, she would sense two hearts a good amount smaller; one of which belonged to a hare.

There were more in the area, but these were moving away, making trying to catch up to them a gamble.

"I see a decent amount of tracks. Do you sense anything?" Timea questioned.

 

[Silence]

Vala Area - Day 14 - 8:38

"Yes. I can sense several. I ... hmm." she thought. "Most of them are too small. but there are bigger ones here -" she pointed to the west, then turned slightly to the north, "and even bigger ones here." She thought for a few moments, then added: "I ... don't know what these are, but I guess I should try the middle ones.

Actually, could I feel the tracks? Maybe I can get more information with that."

Like that, she got on one knee and felt the ground a little, although it was pretty unlikely that she would actually find the tracks this way. "Or ... is it not worth it for me to even bother with that? I kind of want to learn these tracks, but if I never even can find them ..."

Quan Chi moved to the side to dodge the ice spears, dropping the dead archer, then controlled the ice mage to make him throw himself overboard.
