"We can try to keep it away, but that might not work in the long run." a sailor responded. He relayed the order to the archers, who did as Robin suggested.

"Lightning tends to move towards metal, so they're probably dropping their weapons to avoid getting hit by that." the mercenary responded. As he spoke, the figure on the mast lowered a hand to point at the Black Guard ship, keeping the other raised towards the sky.

"Electricity and I do not go together well..." Aqua said, fear starting to creep into her voice. "I think we should strike first."

 

[Kirke]

You hear the merc talk about lightning and you feel your blood chill as you realise what that means for you. Letting out a long chain of expletives, you begin to frantically undo the various straps holding your very conductive prosthetic in place.

 

[Slenn]

"The man on the mast is pointing at our ship."

"I will take the lightning. I'll absorb the electrical energy. Get I get to someplace where I can act as a lightning rod?"

 

[Chungus]

"I'll try," Timea began, lying through her teeth. "But you never know. Chance encounters could happen. So I'd like to know what to look out for when I go places. It pays to be prepared, as they say", she finished, placing a hand on her hip pausing a moment. "So, where about do the larger, more dangerous beasts live? Is anything dangerous beyond teeth and claws, and is anything venomous?" A moment after asking this, she smiled a bit wryly, "Or am I at the wrong address for questions like these?"

"Where would be the best place for you to go?" the mercenary asked EMily.

"They're mostly out in the desert. They definitely have teeth and claws, but we don't know about venom."

 

[Gearhead mk2]

"Have the archers fire as soon as we're close enough. It doesn't matter if they hit or not. If we make them stay in cover we can stop them from boarding us." He looked at Shara and Aqua. "Shara, Aqua, keep your heads down until their lightning mage is taken care of." He turned to EMily. "Get on top of the mast and keep the lightning away from the ship."

"I don't like hiding in a fight." Aqua said, but still followed Robin's orders and hid behind the mast.

 

[Slenn]

"As Robin said, I'll go to the top of the mast and polarize my body as much as possible to attract the electric charge from the lightning. I've been able to predict lightning strikes, so I'll be able to feel if he's about to cast."

The mercenaries all nodded, and the archers drew back their bows. They would fire a volley, as one of the sailors showed EMily the way up the mast to the crow's nest.
Half of the arrows would hit the ship at various points, some on the deck and others wounding the pirates. However the other half would be struck by a powerful gust of wind, sending them off-course.

 

[Chungus]

"Right. I'll watch out for that when I'm in the desert, then," Timea responded, phrasing the sentence so it technically wasn't false. "So, last question, and I'll drift," she stated, then paused briefly, "Is there any source of fresh water around here, on the island? Or one of the other ones, if not?"

Homer brought up his rifle and fired at the lighting mage. His five shots were quite accurate, and the rifle was effective for up to 350 meters.

Robin opened his tome, flicking through the pages and building up magical energy. "Try to avoid killing if you can!" he called out.

 

[Slenn]

EMily made haste as she climbed the tower to the tip top of the crow's nest. She stood straight up, and began polarizing her body, extending her arms into the air and her feet pointed straight down. Her heeled shoes morphed into ballet slippers, and the dress fluffed outwards with a "fwooof" into its titular puffy form.

 

[Silence]

As EMily climbed up the mast, Speedy commented:

"Hi EMily. Can you store this energy, or do you deflect it? And is it dangerous to stand near you for that? I may have some metal on me."

Zephy blinked for a moment as she noticed some arrows begin blown off course. [color=46e16f] "They've got another wind mage with them..." [/color] She called out as she calmly scanned over the pirates to see which one of the pirates may have been the culprit... focusing her eyes more on which arrows were blown astray.

 

[Kirke]

You nod and crouch down, but decide to keep your prosthetic on after hearing EMily's reassurance. Tightening the straps again, you glance at Robin when he says to avoid killing. You wonder to yourself what possible reason there could be for it, but decide not to question it now.

 

[Slenn]

"It's very dangerous! Do not get close!" She called out, not moving her position or posture. "I'm going to store the electric charge since I'm immune to electrocution. I've done this before, don't worry. But please stay away!"

 

[Silence]

"Okay." Speedy said and jumped off again, landing near Shara.

"You should upgrade your prosthesis. But first, let's not get electrocuted together!"

The archers shot another volley, with the sorcerer again blowing half the arrows off-course. Zephyra would be able to see the culprit; a lone figure standing upright, while the other pirates raised wooden shields to protect themselves.

Homer's shots would strike the lightning sorcerer, bringing him to his knees. Before he died, however, he pointed at Homer and unleashed his spell. The sky above turned dark as a bolt of lightning came down, striking the sorcerer. It flowed through his body, down his outstretched arm, and straight towards the mercenary ship. Thankfully, EMily polarising herself would draw the bolt away from Homer and towards herself.
