[Silence]

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 2nd, 2025
- Hotel -​

The soldier Dalahar had shot at lay still, then slowly began going back into the earth. The other incapacitated soldiers as well.

The lone white phantom soldiers followed the orders, laying down on his stomach.

Anik fumbled a little bit with her handcuffs, but did not seem to be able to break them.

White was dead, her blood and body nearly the only thing lasting in this world.

End of Prologue Part 2: Justice​

 

[Kirke]

After confirming that White was dead, the healing trooper continued on to Ella. Meanwhile, two other troopers arrested the phantom soldier. One put handcuffs on him and read him his rights while the other kept a gun trained on his head.

When that was done, the leader looked around and said; "Alright, you can sit up now. Now, what happened here?"

Viyang stood up, still scowling at the trooper that had tried shooting her, primarily since she had no way of knowing the attack was meant to be non-lethal. [color=663399]"The woman with the spear came to arrest a criminal from her world, to bring them to trial. I handed the criminal over to end the hostilities, and the situation most likely would have ended there if you hadn't shown up."[/color]

 

[Slenn]

Shana got herself up. "Oy vey." She shook her head.

Candace stood, shivering slightly.

"It was dangerous for her to go back there." Lambda countered.

A few moments after closing their eyes, Kuki hestitantly opened their eyes again, glancing around the area, and opening them fully on noticing that hostilities seemed to have ceased. Kuki stayed prone, until the lead trooper said it was all right to get up, whereupon they did so, slowly, their legs shaking a little.

While Viyang first began to explain what happened, Kuki looked to White's corpse, and analysed it, surprised to find nothing stood out about her, aside from having contracted Chronic Lack of Living. Kuki then looked to the phantom soldier, and began analysing him.

Kuki let others speak, for now, keeping quiet.

Winter Street, Waltham, Massachusetts. March 2nd.​

In the middle of a parking lot off Winter Street in Waltham, a small rift opened up, manifesting as a shimmer in the air that, when looked through, tinted everything that was seen through it in a darker and more greyscaled tone. The rift stayed in place, not changing in size, or otherwise doing anything.

A civilian on the way to their car noticed it, and approached they rift. They looked at it from a moment, then tried throwing a pebble into the rift, finding it passed through without anything happening. Cautiously, the civilian tried to poke it, the finger also passing through.

They captured a few seconds of footage of the rift, throwing the pebble through it again for the camera, then informed the authorities, and moved on.

"There's more... They wanted to destroy the portal." Lambda told them.

 

[Vakra jal]

Dalahar would leave them to explain. He wanted to find those he hadn't seen fighting, to see if they were hurt. The battle thirst leaving him, which he felt stronger due to Kyrys. The daemon was still recovering. Close minded purity and a pious or resolute belief in one thing was pain to the daemon. The crestures of the warp thrived off open minds, the inquisitive, the curious as they were far easier to ensnare in worship. The word bearers zealously follow the dark gods now, the fact that they are gods that demand worship and faith is the reason for this after many centuries believing the emperor was the one God of the Galaxy. Dalahar was no diabolist or chaplain and new little of the rites performed by Erebus or Kor Phaeron but as a member of the legion had taken part in many rituals but had never performed one, aside from his bonding to Kyrys 39 years ago at the advent of the word bearers conversion to the primordial truth.

These thoughts were what he was dwelling on right now, he wondered if there was any possibility of his gods hearing him here. He noticed Shana and those broke his train of thought. He removed his helmet as he approached her "Tought fight that, you okay?"

 

[Slenn]

"I'm fine yes. A little shaken up, but I'm okay. Kuki and I tried to bunker ourselves up in a second story room. After I saw that combat seemed to be going down, I went back downstairs to see if we could help persuade Anik in staying here. But then someone called in a squad and we were ordered to fall on the ground. Who was it that called them in?"

 

[Vakra jal]

"Ella called them I guess. Same unit markings" he elaborated "good know you managed to stay safe." He motioned to where Shana wore the knife "when we move off ill show you to use that.. Not really the time now. " he said "Know if Nina and Raz are okay?"

 

[Slenn]

"Nina I think is inside. I have not seen or heard from Raz since we walked back to the hotel. He may have wandered off."

 

[Chungus]

ED Shelter, exterior, Montreal. March 2nd.​

"Raz went outside a while ago, before all this started. Nina is close by"

, Kuki chimed in, looking up to Shana and Dalahar, the latter they tried to avoid looking at. They then turned around, and surveyed the area.

"There!"

 

[Vakra jal]

"We should opt to remain together in future. You held up well Shana." he said with approval when Kuki came over it was hard for Dalahar to notice him due to his size but he heard the small animal speak. He looked over to where he indicated.

 

[Slenn]

"Thank you very much." She bowed her head, and then looked over to where Kuki was referring to.

 

[Vakra jal]

Turning back around Dalahar looked at Kunki. No place for old prejudices. He knelt down although this only reduced his height to around 5ft still. "Look" he began "I know I seem......single faceted and hard to approach but I want you to not worry any longer. Any prejudices against non humans I had.......I'm trying to move past it. At least lessen it"

 

[Chungus]

At first, Kuki remained uneasy being around Dalahar as he knelt down, slowly moving about in elliptical patterns. When Dalahar began speaking, however, Kuki stopped, and looked up to him, only mildly fidgeting around on their feet.

"Well... that's good to hear"

, Kuki began to answer.

"It's not just your outlook, though. It's... well, you seem a bit too eager to get into fights, like you're about to blow your lid at any time. Plus, you're eighty times my size."

Explaining, Kuki very much felt uncomfortable, and it showed in their body language.

"So... you kind of scare me."

 

[Kirke]

The lead trooper hummed, listening carefully to what was being said. "This seems like one hell of a mess. Luckily, it wont be my mess. Agent Beckers will be in charge as soon as she wakes up."

There was a groan from Ella, and she sat up. "Speak of the devil." - the trooper said, prompting Ella to look over at him. "Boy, am I glad to see you guys." - She said as she stood up, slightly unsteady on her feet.

 

[Gearhead mk2]

"Dear, you may want to go back to sleep." Candace warned Ella.

 

[Vakra jal]

"my eagerness to fight, it's bred into my blood. I won't try and deny what I am. But where I am from, gene forged soldiers are necessary, to win the Galaxy for those who could not fight. It's the first sacrifice every astartes makes. To become more than human but less at the same time. So humanity could prosper unmolested. That was the idea when the crusade started anyway." A ghost of a smile appeared on his face. "I'd rather be like this unashamed and certain, so I can stand against foes that others cannot"
