The one hope. THE ONE HOPE i have left for the human race is Christianity. It gives me hope.
I personally would love to hear you reasoning on why Christianity of all things gives you hope. My views are the complete opposite.

OT: That humanity appears to becoming into a new glorious age, we are shedding off the more ignorant and wrong ways of thinking. More people becoming atheist, laws are being made on what is right, rather than the personal feelings of a single person, the fact that we are finally doing good in the middle east and how far we have come in such a short time.
I'd love to see you reason atheism is "saving the world" Because from where i stand it causes so much hate and anger
Because it is a more rational way of thinking. Religion forces you to form your ideas around an an ancient book that has no practical use in today's world, it forces you to live in fear, it forces you to accept whatever it says as absolute truth.

Also, you neglected to answer my question.
The Bible is a way to live by and I choose to be a good person. I see atheism hasn't taught you that.
How am I not a good person? Because of my personal feelings about religion? Because I choose to not blindly accept what I am told to accept?
haha! You do the same, you blindly believe that all the stuff about atheism.
Atheism is not a belief, it is the lack of belief, learn that.

Atheism has no core "book", no core set of laws, no set rules on what a person should think. My beliefs are my own, not those ordered to me someone.
But can't a christian also be someone who it is thier belief is their own? Not all christians are ordered to become one.

The opposite of this. The fact that more and more people openly reject religion and its trappings. There is a long way to go, but its happening.

Every person who decides faith is not enough gives me hope for our species.
That is so ironic
No it's not, it's just self contradicting.
(quit trying to make yourself look edgy, hipster.)
I'd very much like to know who that is self-contradictory, seems pretty consistent from where I'm sitting.
because hope is faith, gaining faith out of the loss of faith is self contradicting.

Also, I believe skullkid has gone mad. Christianity is responsible for everything wrong with our society, if we reverted back to it being the religion amongst all common folk, it would be the dark ages all over again.
Unless that's what skullkid is hoping for...
So nothing else is responsible? Nothing but Christianity? Lady and gentlemen here is the number one ignorant person today.

Do you believe in science 100%? Evolution?
Holy shit...
Ok listen.
Science is not a belief.
Science is the study of the physical world around us.
Evolution is not a belief.
Evolution is a scientific theory that has been proven to be very likely to be correct.
Could be mere coincidence, who's to say science is always right

Well if you look at it like a linear spectrum, then the further down the spectrum of Christianity, very bad things happen. Like everything that's a sin is abolished from the world we know now, remember the start of this thread is about hope for the future of humanity. How could one hope for humanity to further progress through the Christianity side of the spectrum, when the side is filled with obviously horrible things that is common knowledge.

Reason 1: God

Reason 2: Despite the bad there are also alot of good people in the world and can be found where ever you go.

Humanity is yin and yang, Alpha and Omega, light is there to fight the dark, always has been always will be.
As long as there is one good-hearted person left in the world there is hope for humanity.

And yet you have the idea that Fascism is this evil thing that will always commit evil things.
Seems to me you only believe what I quoted when it suits you.
Fascism is an ideology that ends up giving the bastard politicans too much power for our own good (no, i do not believe that a benevolent dictatorship is possible). There would still be normal people... who would probably suffer for beliefs such as "everyone is equal". I have the same notions about Objectivism: humans are not normally assholes, but they will be if you actively encourage them.

The Abridged Version: not all Germans are Nazis, and not all religious people are zealots, but racism and zealotry are still bad - mmkay? Same thing with my views on fascism.

The species as a whole is fucked. We're a bunch of selfish, self-destructive bastards. However, there are certain individuals that I have hope for, assuming they don't get dragged down by everyone else.

Whenever I see some nice person actually getting the life they deserve, and being content. I especially love it when you actually see someone recognized for their heroism on the news, even if it's just a small act, it's still something worth recognizing.

Atheism is not a belief or a way of life.
It is merely not believing that there is a higher deity.
So to say "I see atheism hasn't thought you that" is very ignorant.
And every thing everyone has been saying against me isn't?
Religion causes more hate than Atheism does.

For instance, if everyone was Atheist the situation in the middle east at the moment wouldn't exist. There wouldn't have been countless wars over the "holy land" because there wouldn't be anything to fight over.

Think of how many people have killed and been killed in the name of whatever god.

How many people have been killed in the name of atheism?
None.

Yeah but in the end, it's all just one ironic joke.

Edit: i'm playing sc2 and not explaining how this is ironic.

Ok let's take it from the top, hope and faith are NOT synonyms, to show you I'll give you the first two dictionary defintions of the words.

Hope:
the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best
a particular instance of this feeling

Faith:
confidence or trust in a person or thing
belief that is not based on proof

Understand now?

As for the other bit I'll agree that Skull kid might be a bit nutty, but Christianity is FAR from the only thing wrong with the world, it's only one of them.
