The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide by Douglas Adams. All the books from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series, put together in a beautifully leather framed sci-fi bible.
I was in the middle of the Bartimaus trilogy, The Golems Eye when the media center sent out the end of year recall order.

Just finished "God is not great: How religion poisons everything" by Christopher Hitchens. It made me want to pick up "1984" by George Orwell, I just bought it, haven't opened it yet though.
