NO thier not, sex refers to your biological features and only really has two options. Gender refers to many things. Transexuality, bisexuallity, homosexualy, being a "manly man"or a "girly girl." these things are gender. believe me, took a college class on gender, completely different than sex.

Well, in popular language, sex and gender are indeed often used synonymously. The distinction between biology, choice of sexual partner, and cultural roles, still is in its infancy when it comes to the masses. So, when you talk with someone or read a book or play a game, you will indeed find many cases, where sex/gender is used synonymously, and basically means "all of those things". (there are many other such cases - for example, most people have difficulty to distinguish between "exists", "true", "real", "right" and "good")

But that something is popular doesn't necessarily make it reasonable. Being unable to distinguish those aspects in language, conditions people to automatically associate male biology with heterosexuality and cultural roles of a man. Plus, without a way to distinguish, one can barely talk efficiently about it in a differentiated way. Thats why among people who care about this, they distinguish between sex and gender.

To me, what makes a man a man is when he acts like one.
Things like admitting when he's wrong. Standing up for his friends. Being responsible. Taking charge.
But then again, I'm typically attracted to men who are assertive or strong-willed in some way. (I usually say that I want my guy to be a MAN. I am not going to be the man for the both of us.)

Altho for me, the phrase "be a man" can be applied to both men and women because of the message it intends. I'm usually like, "Oh, quiz being a pussy and take it like a man" regardless of gender.

Beyond that you are just asking "What makes a good person". We(royal) say "you aren't a real man" but really we are just saying "you sir, are an asshole/pussy". Women put up with a lot more than most men. Should we call people women as a term of panegyric then rather than the criticism it was (and still is).

"Gender" just is a criteria - similiar to how you could rate the "looks" of something, or the "sound" of something, or the "behaviour" of something. There may be a name for what you describe, haven't checked that. To be honest, i'm not that hot on - regarding render - again creating all kinds of terms to put people in a drawer, because: There are so many possibilities, that creating a handful of new words may just result in creating another set of stereotypes, instead of breaking lose from them.

I too don't fit any existing stereotype, just like you.
