A third Dragon Age simply can't be profitable enough for EA to bother producing,
Yeah, 1.3 million sold during its 10 week run, 400,000 of that being pre-orders.

I guess what I'm saying is, proof or GTFO.
Although the massive number of preorders compared to final sales is mostly indicative of bad word-of-mouth. Dexter has a better-looking graph for this, but this is the one I found on Google that also illustrates what happened pretty well:

Good lord...you people really think Bioware is going to die out? Gamers are some of the most pessimistic people I've ever come to know.

Also, I really need to point out that the customer, in any transaction is entitled to whatever they want. They can ***** and cry about whatever, and it comes down to the seller to determine whether or not losing a sale is worth the price of not catering to them. That's just how business works.
No they are not entitled to whatever they want - they are entitled to what they pay for.

Personally I liked DA2 and ME3. If I recall DA2 was in the top games of 2011 as voted by the community here. So lots of people liked it - but never mind you can keep your preconception that the whiners speak for everyone here.

I like bioware and I have no problem with EA. Personally I'd love to know what 'shitty business practices' are that people don't like as I only ever see the phrase with no actual explanation.

Do we really need another Jade Empire game? The first one was completely self-contained and any sequel would seem clumsily tacked on.
It could go the route of the Elder Scrolls series: just have it take place in the same universe. Since Jade Empire is based off Wuxia culture I'm almost certain expanding on it wouldn't be a difficult task. Brainstorm an ancient demon hell-bent on taking revenge on the modern world or something. Simple, sure, but it could work. I think.

For the gameplay, maybe they could co-develop it with someone familiar with action titles, like Platinum Games. Hey! There's a thought: Jade Empire (maybe call it Jade Dynasty or something) developed by Platinum Games...

Admittedly, I find it ironic you would say something like that considering your handle.

Lets see, besides a good number of IPs that fans have been begging to see returned too (Jade Empire and Baldur's gate come to mind), they could easily create a new one series all together. After all, the all of their games that most people seem to love were all made in the last decade. Baldur's Gate? 1999, Neverwinter Nights? 2002, Swotor? 2003, Jade Empire? 2005, Mass Effect? 2007, Dragon Age? 2009.

If they can create that many hits within in a decade, I'm sure they can create another one with or without EA breathing down their necks. I also doubt a good majority of the people here are gonna swear off Bioware game, but call that just my intuition.

Bioware's already dead. You just haven't got the invitation to the funeral yet. Good news, most the games from them'll drop in price for everyone who actually did hold out from making the mad rush for them.

You forgot Bioware is tied to Warhammer online now.

Bioware is done. Its over. EA is horrible at business, and they will fold too.
random question...

but why is that a death sentence?

Well Bioware isn't known for making games of other IPs. If they are stuck milking whats already there, they are done. They wont get any sort of "freedom" and their love of "artistic integrity" would be dead when their actions are dictated by outside sources.

I can expect Mass Effect 7: Revenge of the moneygrab.

That and if they fuck up Warhammer, Games Workshop will buttfuck EA six ways from sunday.
I know it was a while ago...but what about KOTOR? granted I imagine the WARHAMMER40K universe works alittle...differently

Exactly, they're going to die. EA are making sure of that.
Going to die?

Mass effect series - dead

Dragon age series - dead (because DA2 was a such a piece of crap)

SW:tor - will be dead in under a year

Bioware has utterly lost its reputation people who are still buying there games are either blind fan boys, or people who dont care about the quility of video games.
Call me a fanboy if you really want, but I think you're underestimating these franchises.

Considering I've hated ME since 2 and disliked DAO so much I didn't finish it, I don't think I'm particularly on Bioware's side right now.
Oh they will still make games... but they will just fall into the background. they will make "AAA" titles but in truth they will be "B" titles with the guise of "AAA" titles just like COD and MW, and all of the EA sport games. Oh ya and Halo.

Haha that's the one :D

Really, these say everything that needs to be said about how DA2 held up as a sequel.

With Star Wars you have some freedom, because George Lucas is BEYOND caring. With Warhammer, you must have everything exactly so. Any flaw, anywhere, is grounds for them to take everything you got. This is the reason no one in hollywood wants to make a warhammer movie. The guys who made the ultramarines movie had to read EVERY warhammer book back to back just for the script.

- Romance? None that I've seen in Warhammer.
- Diplomacy? None.
- The Bioware standard plot of getting assets for war? Allying with other races? Forbidden.
- Writing a story that tries to change the world? Games Workshop would bankrupt you before you even knew what the fuck.
- The dialogue must be handled carefully, or Games Workshop would go after that.

The only people that can make Warhammer games is Relic. If Bioware tries anything with Warhammer, and I have a feeling they will for "art", they wont be around for long. Games workshop has a history of litigation with people they are partnered with. Hell they even sued the makers of the citadel paint they use for their models and many others before it.
holy shit.....those guys sound ruthlss (I can understand not wanting the IP screwed...but still)

mabye its not "bioware" Bioware...I hear there are different sub-sections or whatever..EA slapping the Bioware name on other devs, like that new comand and conquor game...mabye thats the case here

The Mass Effect universe isn't done yet, they've clearly stated multiple times they want to stage more games in that setting. Shepard's story may be done but I can see lots of possibilities for great games in that universe.
But I don't care about the ME universe anymore. How can they possibly top Shepherds story? Shitty ending aside, Shep boinked half the females of the other races and punched the Reapers in their metaphorical robo-nuts. You can't really top that other than someone who beats up God and steals his date.

Seriously, this again? Will people just give the fuck up on this, please.

The only reason anyone could think Bioware was in trouble is because they either incessantly pick apart every single small mistake or differing opinion they can find, or they have such a pathological hatred of EA that they've convinced themselves the company is a swirling vortex of evil that corrupts everything in a hundred mile radius.

Bioware isn't perfect but they still make awesome games, EA is pretty stupid but they still on occasion publish some pretty cool stuff. That's pretty much where it ends.
