I can't really think about any game that I genuinely hate, but I was severely underwhelmed by BioShock. I bought it about 2 or 3 months ago after having loads of my friends hype it up to me, saying it was one of the best games they'd ever played, but I was thoroughly dissapointed. I found a shooter, with magic. Don't get me wrong, it was very different atmospherically, and I loved the graphical style, etc. but on the whole, it just didn't do anything for me.

That said, I'll probably pick it up again in a month or so and find I love it almost as much as I love the two Mass Effect games, but there you go. I've had my rant.

Didn't anyone hate "Rogue Warrior" as much as I did? It played like a twelve year-old's Cold War themed wet dream. Not only was the gameplay crap, but I was offended by the fact that the developers actually thought we want to hear some old guy cussing about "cum-breathed commie cocksuckers" for three hours straight.
Its the only game where I got to the end and honestly regretted wasting my three hours.

Superman 64 anyone?
Yeah also this, I remember when I'd play it as a kid, what a mistake, also that one game that has three towers or so on the cover and a staff of some kind with a reptile eye in the middle (it was for the 64) Shadowquest or something
ShadowGate64 Trial of The 4 Towers, cool puzzles but ghastly design

Sim games, be it a gardening sim or cooking sim, playing guitar sim, or even The Sims. You could argue that FPSs are shooting sims, but I can't be arsed to counter.

The last game that I played and absolutely hated and raged about was Final Fantasy XII. It was such a pretentious piece of crap.

I tend think of myself as a pretty flexible person that could find good in a great deal of things. With games that I hate, there has to be next to nothing that I like about it... as in I won't find much to redeem the game. FFXII just so happened to be the latest one on that list. And Bradygames is also kind of up for blame a little. A LITTLE.

The only other games that I can think of that I intensely dislike at the moment are FFX-2 and that DS installment of FFT:A. I played these to the end, regretfully.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but I really hated Borderlands. Soooo boring.
I hated it too, but the new DLC is what the game should have been. Throughly dark humor and crazy ass missions. Not too mention some of the best characters I've seen for awhile like the general. But pior to the DLC it was over too quickly, and no fun at all without friends.

OT: Bullet witch. Borrowed it, hated it, and gave it back after getting to the third level. That or battlefield 2, modern combat. Aside from the useless servers, single player was naff.

Gears two also deserves a mention simply because it's mutiplayer was so goddamn awful.

I wonder how long until someone mentions 'That Game' either defending it or offending it. Either way, 'That Game' will end up being mentioned and will derail this thread :(

till that happens I would like to put forward command and conquer renegade. While not the worst game around, I personally found it terrible enough to be worth mentioning here. Another contender for my most hated game would be say The sims series. This is just because my computer is full to the brim with Sims franchise things due to my brother, I mean i'm looking up and i'm counting 16 sims games/expansions, and thats the ones I can see. To top it off who the fuck needs Sims Hot Date twice, jesus christ did he not learn it was shit enough the first time or something...
You made me lose the game.
And I mean the game.

it didn't bring anything new to the table, and i thought it was a pretty big disappointment overall./quote]

I agree with the consensus here that Halo was generally a steaming pile, but saying that it didn't "bring anything new to the table" isn't really fair to the FPS genre.

What Halo did do (other than spawning legions of 'Fanbois' of course) was introduce the concept of limited weapons (namely dual weapons), and the removal of a health bar in lieu of "Recharge-o-Health".

Personally, whilst I can see the innovation, both of those annoy me. More the "Recharge-o-Health" as so far every generic FPS since then can be beaten solely through judicious use of the crouch button, and the crouch button alone.

Give me health bars back! It actually pressured you into killing the damn boss as you couldn't survive infinite amounts of splash damage due to your health coming back...

Grrrr...

Most Hated Game though? Other than the obvious, Too Human for just being truely terrible as a game, Aliens Vs Predator (2010) for curbstomping all my pleasant memories of the originals and The Warcraft Series, not for being bad on thier own, but for "dumbing down" RTS games after WC3.

There should be a new class of international law - "Crimes against Genre". Halo and Warcraft would be the first up against the wall.

I'mma have to go with the original Devil May Cry, because while it's not the worst game ever it IS the only one to frustrate me so much I broke a TV by hurling a controller at it. Nothing else I've touched has come close to causing several hundred dollars of property damage, so until that happens, DMC wins simply on that grounds.

On the grounds of biggest disappointment, I'd have to say FF7. Over a decade of hype for me to get it on PSN and be bored in 7 hours? I don't think I've EVER given up in an RPG in under ten. I poke it from time to time, but I can't say I'm thrilled with it.

In case anyone hasn't stated it, Hydlide.

I paid money to play that "game". REAL MONEY. Money I could've used for something useful, like a yo-yo, or pants.

I am incredibly disappointed with Starfox Adventures, I had no idea that your support character could get more annoying, but then they brought in Tricky. Also the likeness to Zelda turned on some players but it really made me want to flip tables, all of the puzzles were pointlessly easy and every dungeon led to you getting a spell or an item that you would use in that dungeon and then never look at it again. This would be excusable if the plot was decent, but it wasn't. This game ruined a childhood favorite of mine, and I hope Nintendo is proud of itself.
