I live in bromölla, sweden. We're known for being the town with the most bullies/idiots/violators/wannabe gangsters/worst schools yet its one of those quaint little towns where everyone knows everybody and rumors travel at warp speed.

Oscar Wilde went to prison in my town. Also we used to make biscuits. Pretty lame claims to fame there.
You forgot the Reading Festival. Not that that's worth mentioning...

Saw this thread and thought I'd chip in. Lancaster, California and its surrounding areas have a windfarm in the Tehachapi mountains, I'm right near Edwards Air Force Base where the shuttle lands and aircraft are tested, the Honda Musical Road is on Avenue G west of the freeway after it was paved over on Avenue K and everybody wanted it back, and lastly the freeway travels right across a fissure of the San Andreas Faultline on the south edge of the valley.

I live in Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. Of the top of my head this city is known for:

Ship building, brown ale, a football team that mostly sucks but has the most rabid of fans, women who go out clubbing and never put a coat on even if it is minus 9c outside, an accent that is often baffling, Gazza, Fog on the Tyne...and about 50 more cliches and stereotypes.

I originally came from Milton Keynes, which is most well known for having hundreds of roundabouts in the road system and being so concerned about over-urbanisation that they compensated by putting a herd of concrete cows in a small field...

The town I grew up in was called "the tree sculpture capital of Nova Scotia" for a few years.
It is also known as "The hub of Nova Scotia" which I believe is a reference to Canadian National Railway.
