I remember them! I got the Australia offer a few years ago. The year after that, northwestern Europe, and I think I got another one for Australia a few months ago. I'm not one for travelling, so I always decline. They're legit though. My sister went to San Fransisco last year because People to People sent a letter for her. And it's not foreign exchange. You just get to go somewhere for a couple weeks and learn stuff. It's not like someone's going to travel to your house and stay there until you come back or something

What is wrong with australia... You mean apart from the fact that is it mostly desert where depending upon what sector you are in you could be either killed by fire or flood. Not to mention that the entire place is filled with creatures out to kill you. Oh and the accent... My god. .

The same could be said of allmost any place on earth and it would be just as untrue. Our animals are not all that dangerous, deadly sure, but you're not likely to be in danger because of them.
You don't really belive the stereotypical view of Australia do you?

What did I say that was untrue? You had a big rash or fires recently where whole towns were wiped out. Then apparently you had major floods on another part of the place. Most of it is indeed desert hence why the only really populated areas are the coastlines. You have spiders soo big they have health bars [http://invasiveinfection.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/health_bar_spider.jpg], many of which are poisonous, scorpions, snakes, crocodiles, kangaroos that can punch you out very easily, sting rays (just ask steve irwin). The list goes on.
And as for the accent, my god. If trapped there I would happily pop both my ear drums rather than end up sounding like steve irwin.

Those spiders are harmless, the dangerous ones are uncommon.
Scorpions are only in the desert.
Snakes are cute aren't common and aren't that dangerous and usually won't attack you.
Crocs are only in the Northern Territory (that's the real dangerous place).
Kangaroos? What? What? They're Kangaroos? They are as dangerous as... ...slightly disgruntled insect people wearing silly hats! (furthering my theory that the Northern Territory is the place that is really dangerous)
Sting Rays are common around the world.

Okay, so as some of you may know, I'm home schooled and have been for a little over a year. I've enjoyed it much more than regular school and I plan on sticking with it until I get a job or go to college or whatever. But today, I got a letter.

The letter is from a group that I've never heard of called People to People. The letter mentions me and uses my real name and it says they know I'm home schooled and (obviously) where I live so its not just some random crap thats sent to just whoever lives at the current house. The letter was talking about becoming an exchange student.

I didn't think thats how you become an exchange student, but whatever. It says, and I'm quoting this, "To the parents of Julian King, Julian is invited to travel and study in Australia in the summer of 2010...All students must be invited annually, so we are pleased to offer Julian this once in a life time opportunity to travel on a 2010 program."

I don't know why I got this.

So my question is, what do my fellow Escapists make of it? I have no idea what to make of it. I'm not 100% convinced that this is for real. Although I have always wanted to go to Australia.

So what do you guys think?

To be honest, it is a bunch of random crap, I got one aswell.
