Probably Orphan from FFXIII, think that took me near 4-5 hours and a lot of rage.
Oh really? one of my biggest issues with Final Fantasy XIII (aside from it's terrible plot and unbearable characters) was the fact that battles were over in an instant. I loved the battle system but I really really adored the stupidly long boss battles from early Final Fantasy games. No boss took me longer than 10 minutes in that game... *sigh*

OT: do you mean length in terms of "without dying" or just an absurdly long time for enemy to die?

In terms of dying a lot, I'd say Zeus from GOW3 on Titan mode. I died a ludicrous number of times which is why it took me so long.

In terms of a silly lengths of time without dying, it'd likely be some sort of Final Fantasy boss...maybe the first time I encountered Ultimecia (before getting older and realising easy strategies) or maybe the secret bosses - any of the Weapons (from VII), Omega Weapon (VIII), Ozma (XI).

I guess Yu Yevon at the end of Final Fantasy X takes the prize for "most unnecessarily long boss battle ever!" Seriously...it can't even kill you, yet it has stupid amounts of health >.<

Hrm...maybe the Arch Demon from Dragon Age: Origins took me ages?? I don't remember much...

EDIT: No, just realised after someone just reminded me of Final Fantasy XII. The Hell Dragon took me a stupid amount of time. I started at around 7:30 in the evening and played up until 8:30 the next morning and he still wasn't dead. I had to go to college so left the game paused and spent to whole time a college worrying over the idea of a power cut. When I returned, I spent another 4 hours killing that fucker. Damn him for having so many health bars (0ver 30 was it??? not sure). I haven't attempted Yiazamat yet so who knows how long that would take.

Doll boss on Silent Hill Homecoming (PC) Mostly due to a bug that if you pressed too rapidly in a quick time event it wouldn't work, but if you did it too slow it wouldn't work.

After pausing the game (fighting the boss for a good 50 mins wondering if im doing it wrong) i checked the internet and found ya dont spam teh button as fast >.>

You have a copy of Diablo 3?

I'd have to say Yaizmat from FF12. 50 million hp. 2 hours with gambits and max potions. I went on a small date with my ex and came back. He was still alive...

For me it was the Leviathan in Dead Space. When I came traipsing into the room I saw the bastard and thought oh, well I just have to dodge his tentacles and shoot him right in the mouth. Nope. I ran, and dodged and and shot, over and over and over again, until I was out of everything, i literallly used every single bullet in my inventory and had not even come close to killing him. So, out of pure frustration and with no other options I decided to run up and bash him with the butt of my gun. Needless to say I was handly "smushed", and I looked at the clock on my cellphone and it said I had been fighting him for an HOUR and had not even won the fight.....I beat him a week later in 15 minutes by using KINESIS ( which I hadn't used at all in the previous fight). :)

Elizabeth Greene in Prototype

Literally threw air conditioners at her for the better part of 45 minutes.

Yiazmat in FF12. Took me a week of running back and forth between him and the save crystal outside his room. ><

My siblings and I must've spent a good hour fighting Gal Gryphon from Phantasy Star Online Episode II...what else, let's see...
I just finished Mass Effect 2 last night, and the Human-Reaper Larva seemed to just absorb everything I could throw at it.
And Sephiroth form Kingdom Hearts 1 was a right old bastard.

The final boss of Jet Force Gemini (N64) still sticks with me as one of the toughest (and cheapest) bosses I have ever fought. I can't remember exactly how long I spent trying to kill it, but I always ran out of ammo and then the boss just killed me. I had to reload at a checkpoint before the boss and max out my ammo before the fight. I think it took roughly 30 rockets to kill the beast (and of course, landing a rocket hit wasn't easy).

Also, the final boss from Henry Hatsworth (DS) was quite difficult. I think that took me ~5 hours if you add up all the attempts.

would have been galamoth from castlevania SOTN, but i got lucky when i found a spot where he couldnt attack me.

even then, i was like "jesus, how many HPs does this guy fuckin have?!"

i kept hitting him and he never hit me and it still took me something like 20 minutes.

i shudder to think how long it would have taken if i didnt luck out.

Gravemind in Halo 3...

Remember, the entire level Cortana was basically taking place inside gravemind, so it was technically a super long boss fight.

In Guild Wars Nightfall I had to fight Shrio again in Gate of Madness. I think the lonegest (I had multiple characters to do that mission) was above 30mins due to the fact we keep dying and reviving. Shiro was easy to beat in Faction due to us having celestrial skills (overpowerful) but without those skills it was very hard.
