Probably Orphan from FFXIII, think that took me near 4-5 hours and a lot of rage.
Oh really? one of my biggest issues with Final Fantasy XIII (aside from it's terrible plot and unbearable characters) was the fact that battles were over in an instant. I loved the battle system but I really really adored the stupidly long boss battles from early Final Fantasy games. No boss took me longer than 10 minutes in that game... *sigh*
OT: do you mean length in terms of "without dying" or just an absurdly long time for enemy to die?
In terms of dying a lot, I'd say Zeus from GOW3 on Titan mode. I died a ludicrous number of times which is why it took me so long.
In terms of a silly lengths of time
without dying, it'd likely be some sort of Final Fantasy boss...maybe the first time I encountered Ultimecia (before getting older and realising easy strategies) or maybe the secret bosses - any of the Weapons (from VII), Omega Weapon (VIII), Ozma (XI).
I guess Yu Yevon at the end of Final Fantasy X takes the prize for "most unnecessarily long boss battle ever!" Seriously...it can't even kill you, yet it has stupid amounts of health >.<
Hrm...maybe the Arch Demon from Dragon Age: Origins took me ages?? I don't remember much...
EDIT: No, just realised after someone just reminded me of Final Fantasy XII. The Hell Dragon took me a stupid amount of time. I started at around 7:30 in the evening and played up until 8:30 the next morning and he still wasn't dead. I had to go to college so left the game paused and spent to whole time a college worrying over the idea of a power cut. When I returned, I spent another 4 hours killing that fucker. Damn him for having so many health bars (0ver 30 was it??? not sure). I haven't attempted Yiazamat yet so who knows how long that would take.
