A friend of mine was playing FF6. In the final fight with Kefka, phase 3 (the one where there's 2 enemies, one of which casts life 3 and heal spells...) the only one of her characters left alive was Gau on Magic Pot rage. (the one where he uses Cure 3 on self, and is essentially immune to damage). She couldn't kill the boss, the boss couldn't kill her, she couldn't take actual actions (lol Gau). She left the game running on automatic for 2 days, then her SNES froze.

The Shadow Queen from Paper Mario 2, counting all my deaths and the actual time it took me to beat her, it was well over an hour.

Final Fantasy XIII - the boss before the last two boss fights. That went on forever and required no skill AT ALL. It lasted over 30 minutes for me, and that was with staggering it a couple of times. It was boring, and pointless and lacked any tension at all because I knew the strategy to beat it.

Persona 3's end boss fight was also pretty annoying, but if you levelled up like I did, it went by faster. With FFXIII's third last boss fight, the thing just had a ton of HP and there was nothing you could do but chip, chip, chip ever so slowly away at it.

I didn't have a timer or anything, but the first thing that springs to mind is final boss Mizar from Jet Force Gemini. So many missiles and so much plasma emanating from a single cyborg-beetle thing towards my dog-tank...

Amorbis from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. on its own didn't take too long, but I died a lot because I was like 9 years old, and very confused.

The final boss in Serious Sam HD. Me and a friend played the game (single and multiplayer) for over 13 hours straight. The final boss floats around the platform you stand on, but it must have glitched because it got stuck under the platofmr. We tried everything but in the end, the only option was to keep suicide jumping off while getting as many hits on the thing as we could.

We beat it. After 3 hours.

I don't remember the longest one I've ever had but the longest one I remember watching was my friend Sean fight the Holoholo Bird in Baten Kaitos Origins. It tokk up upwards of three or four hours to beat it.

The damn thing kept laying eggs which spawned baby birds wich would heal the main bird to almost full health, and it would then use a super powerful attack to wipe out nearly the entire pary, it was a war of attrition tring to take out all those babies!

Probably Orphan from FFXIII, think that took me near 4-5 hours and a lot of rage.
This [as in, all 3 of the final bosses]
I managed to do it on my first try, but it took LONG. well over an hour of constant. Intense. Paradigm shifting.

*shudder*. I felt so MLG1337LegitPr0Pwn afterwards though>:D

Steven at the end of Pokemon Ruby. He was down to his last pokemon, and I got into one of those loops. I had a modest fuckload of revives at my bag and every one of his attacks instakilled me, so I actually kept reviving till he ran out of PP for everything. Won in the end, though.

A friend, in Imperium Galactica II. It was long, it was brutal and I fucking lost. But he barely had anything left.
Good times.

The Jenova battle where Aeris dies in FF7.

It was one of the first JRPGs I'd ever played so I hadn't yet gotten the habit of grinding my characters to near-invincibility and I hadn't found the accessory that causes Jenova's total-party-annihilation skill aqualung to heal the character it is equipped to.

I can't say exactly how long it took me or even if it truly was the LONGEST boss battle, but it will always stick with me as the longest - I got the game early enough that Aeris' death was not spoiled for me. Having to watch it over and over and over and over and over and over again to the point where the event went from depressing to hilarious; I'll never forget it.

Come to think of it, I had to start the whole game over again to get the item in question since I had saved just prior to the battle (backtracking was impossible and I couldn't even grind on the spot because the area was devoid of encounters) making the battle utterly impossible.

I guess that means the battle technically must have been the longest ever if you count the time between re-fighting the boss and re-playing a huge chunk of the game.

Sephiroth from Kingdom Hearts 2. That bastard took a whole fucking day to bring down. An ungodly amount of health, U have to have all of your spells fully upgraded, a stupid amount of health potions, and I used the Oblivion Keyblade so I could get the transformations faster

Two nights ago i fought against a giant octuppus on God of War II, it turned out I needed to climb its tentacle after it got stuck on the ground and break its weak spot instead of fighting it endlessly. I'm not sure for how long i fought it.

I don't know if this is the longest but the final boss from "Mario & Luigi Superstar: Partners in Time" was pretty long.

Ripto in the second Spyro game. Part of it was I had no idea what to do, so I was just running around trying to survive.

When I used to play Guild Wars, there was also Urgoz. The fucker took five hours to reach with a full party and you were lucky to survive up until then. I was playing a 1 hp necromancer, so I died pretty often on the way there. I was also the team's energy source, so of course he always targeted me when I was resurrected and my team struggled until I was up again. When I was down, everyone would follow except one of the rangers in the back, who thankfully resurrected everyone each time and got them out. After an hour and a half, where I'm surprised nobody left, we finally got him.
