I don't think it's rated R/mature in the West. Although I might be wrong... I've seen through about 2/3 of the show, and it didn't seem any more violent/obsene (whatever that's supposed to mean) then Bleach/ Naruto/all the other mainstream crap. It's probably rated PG like those things, too.

For me... I don't know. It was probably Elfen Lied, I watched that when I Was about 14. Otherwise, most of my anime was PG... Mononoke, Laputa, Spirited Away and so on.

But I must have seen my first R-rated western animation/movie when I was like 8-9.

Alright so just so you guys know don't say DBZ (unless you saw it uncensored), Pokemon, and any other anime that was shown on a kids channel, because those were edited and kid friendly. This is about your first time watching an anime that was uncensored and mature. I think my first anime was Elfen lied when I first saw it when I was 12, the gore and nudity didn't bother me, and IMO had a great story.

So what's you first mature Anime?

Edit: Alright by "mature" I mean an anime that has a great plot, characters, and makes you feel like your watching something that makes you think.

Probably either Elfen Lied or Ghost in the Shell, since then 90% of what I watch is the mature stuff.

My last one was RIN ~Daughters of Mnemosyne~ and it was really good, but it is not for kids in any sense (Gore, nudity, lesbian sex, etc...)
