I was head of games at a store, but the manager had no times for games, so I rarely got any hours allocated to actually do my job, leaving the area looking shoddy, and with things we all see, like (at the time) FIFA 2004 priced up at £39.99 in the chart next to FIFA 2007, the new release.
Eventually we must have showed up on the head office radar, as I was told I was being given two weeks dedicated to the section 'to sort that shit out' (charming).
The bonus being, none of the price changes had been done since we had opened 4 years ago, meaning games had dropped from £40 to 20, to £10, and then...when even 75% hadn't worked, the head office computers just dropped them to either 49p or 1p to get them off the system's databases.
Now most of the staff didn't give a damn about games, and were always calling on me to explain what an X Box was, and how it differed to a game boy. So I explained to the boss, about all the cheap stuff, and he said, buy it yourself if you like, so I told the couple of people who played games, let em choose a few , then bought the rest, 2 bagfuls of games for under a tenner! I remember my till reciept said 'Total before discount - £780' or something close.
So, a pile of games for 1p each, that's my bargain of the century.
