It seems in the north of England there is some kind of feud against guys with long hair. Walking in to town I inevitably get yelled at out of car windows for it and I get persued by chavs because of it. What's your thoughts? becasue I don't see anything wrong with it
Ugh, man, I feel your pain. I live in Kidderminster, in the West Midlands, and we have our very own infestation. Most of ours are bearable though. You know, all bark and no bite. I used to have long hair and I suffered for it, but now I get by fine with my short hair. I'm still a 'greebo' though, in the eyes of some.

My hair is usually down to my back, but I have to cut it every so often when the ends go dead. Otherwise I wash it twice a week, from what I recall when my hair was short, having it short means it tends to get less greasy, for me at least.

As for the practicality of it...I can keep it neat with just a hairband, though I can understand how men who let it loose can look a little unkempt. However, long hair does not always indicate that the person is an untidy person, no, -dirty- or greasy hair, that's what you should be looking at, not length.

They are chavs. They are stupid, so ignore them.

Up until the 1900's most men had long hair since the Romans. In the 60's-80's guys frequently had long hair, short hair is just "in fashion" right now.

I don't care personally, each to their own. It doesn't suit me however.
chavs? think you need to lean the meaning of the word mate.
So you are saying chav's are not stupid?
I like you so I feel the need to throw in my own little defence. I took the above retard's suggestion and did a definition search on chav:
'A working-class youth, especially one associated with aggression, poor education, and a perceived "common" taste in clothing and lifestyle'

I don't see how you're any less right though?

I've lot long hair and am in America, and the one thing I hate is the instant assumption that your a stoner. Now I chose my hair length because it looks way better than short hair on me, and not because I am to lazy to get up and go to the barber. I also am not a stoner, but a college educated, High School English teacher, I keep it in a hair band at work to remain professional, but why do people assume that I am stoner if i exhibit no other signs, Is this even an issue over in the UK or is is an american thing?

Also if someone makes fun of you for being a girl with long hair I like to remind them that the majority of the most violent warriors ever had long hair...vikings, Aztechs and Native Americans, Musketeers, Samaurai, American Revolutionaries, it was only till recently about the 1800's that masculinity was associated with short hair. (did love the Jesus bit though too, i get that comparison all the time.)

I live in the south of England and I do occassionally get negative comments on it from chavs (even had this dude in his 30's yell at me once) and general idiots, but the response from most people is very positive...I got 'hair raped' at a gig once (2 guys shaking my hair for like 30 seconds) and has led to me dancing with girls, so it's not all bad :D

For the record my hair's blonde, curly and kind of like a mini-afro

Back home near Birmingham, I have a (male) friend who has hair that's longer than that of most girls I know. I live in Leeds now and I've seen plenty of people around campus and in the city, guys, with long hair, so I don't see that there's any problem with it...

There isn't a problem, I used to have long hair a few months ago (I have scene hair now) and I was just as badass as I am now.

Wow, England sounds rough. People actually getting in fights over hair? Some messed up stuff right there.

I have hair halfway down my back and I get the occasional asshole yelling stuff from their car. Though, that even happened when I had short hair, so wtf.

As for growing a beard to up the manliness, I'm freaking 20 and can't grow a beard, dammit.

Scene hair is like the total opposite of badass.

It is not the hair that makes someone badass, it is the fact that they are just really badass.

I just hate it because the majority of guys keep it long and scraggly with the obvious lack of brushing and/or proper conditioning and washing. Love it when its neat, cut well, well maintained and preferrably pulled back in a pony tail, hate it when it looks like a literal birds nest on a head.

I have short hair right now, but having long hair is awesome. I wish i didn't cut it.

Besides, anyone who insults guys with long hair has never fucking had it. You do have to know what to do with it though.

and of course, if you have stupid long hair, don't properly stylize it, or don't have the genes of great hair, then get it cut!

It's because you're not stylizing properly. I live in America and never, ever, get bashed for being a stoner for having long hair, even though i am one.

Also, its common knowledge that I would kill someone for insulting my hair to my face. Such blasphemy.

I had long hair when I was little, but I got it cut around 10. I don't have a problem with long hair, just long SHAGGY hair. Everyone seems to look alike when they have their hair like that. I tried growing my hair like that, and it annoyed the hell out of me. I was constantly mistaken for someone else who had long shaggy hair, it kept blowing in my face and eyes, and I looked like my dad.=\ But mullets, and whatever else I don't have a problem with.

I don't know, to each his own I geuss. If I wanted to jugde someone I'd do it by skin color, not by hair length.*

Just kidding.

Long hair is no longer the fashion sadly. It was a normal thing until recent.

Short hair became the done thing in the army and such, thus it has an aggressive and manly image around it. Chavs are just at a stage in life where they are so determined to prove their manhood that they will bash anyone for the stupidest reasons.

I like my shoulder length hair. I just don't suit short hair at all.
