Well my all time favorite would have to be Bleach (Subbed not dubbed because dubbed sucks. o_O)
And Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is a very close second.
Third would probably have to be Kashimashi, sometimes I just have to get away from the action and check out the comedy. =P

Dubbing tends to do that, in 4Kids case, all the time

I have see a lot of anime so its hard for me to decide what my favorite. But if I had to choice now it proble be cowboy bebop, outlaw star or maybe gundam 8th ms team.

Out of the manga I've read (wich is not many)it proble be black god or FMA. Theres some manga out there that I've been meaning to look at like Akria, berserk and some others. But out of the ones I've read this is it.

This is gonna sound weird but her it goes.

Manga: Bitter Virgin
Anime: Cowboy Bebop

It sounds weird, but BV was deep, it went out there, and it gave a message of hope, but it didnt have the sappy, oh, all is going to be oka with sunshine and rainbows others give. it was real.

And Cowboy Bebop is just awesome.

To OP:
Judging from the list of anime/manga you've read/watched, I would NOT recommend you watch most of the recommended anima/manga other people suggested in the thread. Why? Most of these titles are complete different from the list you provided, in terms of style and story and the general feel. Of course if you feel adventurous you can certainly try those out, but don't expect anything similar to what you have seen.

Now to what I'd recommend that are similar to what you have seen:
most of the newer gundam series are good place to start: W, G, Seed, Destiny, 00. The new Gundam unicorn is actually a return to the older style of gundam so you could give it a try but it's different from the other newer ones mentioned before.

You can also tried Kekkaishi which is another battle oriented teenage manga/anime. Tengge toppa gurren lagann is another mecha battle oriented anime that has similar tone. If you don't mind ova you can also tried aim for the top 2 diebuster. Since you enjoyed death notes you might also enjoy code geass for its weird twists everywhere.

And about battle royale, the live action film is much better than all the manga adaptations and yes, there are several of them. A word of advice about manga. Of the few hundreds of manga I've read (probably over 500), there are maybe less than a dozen can be call great while most of them are forgettable. Expect to tread through a mountain of shit before you find that pot of gold.

I like the original Planetes manga better than the anime version. The anime version has too much political aspect to my liking, where as the manga focuses mainly on existential and self discovery with politics taking the backseat.
The author of Planetes has a new manga called vinland saga which is drastically different from Planetes but also a good read.

If you want to try out different types of genre of manga and anime, I can also recommend some series that serve as good transitions.

For Shojo manga, I'd recommend you start with His and Her Circumstances if you have never seen a shoujo manga/anime. It's not exactly a mainstream shojo but it has decent characters and story that is unique.

If you want to try some battle story that are similar to what you've seen but with more seinen oriented theme and story, I'd suggest you start with Hunter X Hunter, and maybe samurai champloo (I personally find SC boring). If you're not oppose to this type of genre after reading those then there are a wide variety of manga you can choose from for example zetman, gantz, vagabond are all decent manga to read.

Now if you want to try something that has even more grown up theme, you might want to try ghost in the shell TV series (not the movie mind you). It should have enough action to keep you interested and just pretentious enough to pass off as grown up.

As for sports/competition type manga/anime, or those "battle" manga/anime that's not about fighting, you should probably start with the classic slam dunk. It has a very good art style and enough quirkiness to balance out the seriousness of the competition story. After that there are a wide range of this type of story you can choose from, such as hikaru no go, initial D or Bakuman.

There are also some weird ones that're like hybrids of different types of manga. Saikano is probably one of the more famous one that's a cross of shojo romance and military. Evangelion is a disturbing psychological show disguise as a kiddie robot show. In my opinion some of the best stories comes out of here, but most of them are just plain weird.

Some people suggest clannad in the thread earlier, and personally I think that type of anime is a seperate genre by itself apart from shojo. It's basically a dating sim story. If you're interested start with Kanon and Clannad. They are at least decent.

As for comedy and gag, Doraemon is a classic that everyone should have seen. If not you can always start with Sargent Keroro which I think is a modern day version of Doraemon. Lucky Star is also pretty good but you have to like those 4-panel comic strips. Azumanga Daioh is recommended everywhere but some people might find the gags too random, something like family guy would do. Gintama is another great comedy manga that I think everyone would like, but the catch is that you'll need quite a bit of knowledge in general anime/game/japanese culture to understand most of the jokes.
Hopefully this would be useful to you and I bid you good luck in your expedition into the world of manga and anime.

See I really feel that the political stuff really worked in the anime. I feel that all the stuff with INTO and the space defense front really helped the world feel real, add tension to the plot, and explore the possible consequences of space development.

I have heard of Vinland saga before, but sadly have not read much of it. i would buy it but it hasn't been licensed.
