When I say Final Fantasy, who comes to mind?

For me it's Dajh. I was amazed that Square Enix went through the trouble to include perhaps one of the cutest characters I've ever seen in a video game. Reminds me of myself when I was a kid.

My ninjas. I have a file of 4 level 99 Ninjas (on the GBA version, obviously, though the NES version was excellent).

Either those, or as mentioned above, Black Mage.

Every(damn near). Line. The Nameless Douche. Had(during the reminiscence part of the game). Was. Delivered. In. A. High-pitched(except for the narrative). WHINE. my ears bled. in all fairness, the "Hero" from 5 probably(IMNSHO) whined more, but it didn't come across in the Text.
That took effort to read.

That has nothing to do with him being whiny, thats the voice actor being whiny. which I kind of understand, the game has pretty bad voice acting in most parts.

I think Tidus's the character is far from whiny.

Mine would be cloud no other final fantasy character really comes to heart unless I'm trying to think of them. I haven't even played FF VII first hand but he was the only one that really clicked for me.
Same here, FF VII is so iconic, one can't help but think of it. I've only ever played the original Final Fantasy, FF IV, and FF X; but Cloud and the Buster sword are the first thing that pop into my mind when I think Final Fantasy.

Despite the awful localization, I actually liked Tidus. He's the antithesis of almost every Final Fantasy protagonist ever made.

Right I now have to remind people that this is a nostalgia trip:
Until the age of 13 my parents were convinced that computer games rotted the intellect, but my friends parents owned an off-licence that sold the Official Play station magazine. Three years before owning a ps1 I can still remember the orange covered issue with a strange blonde haired midget holding a massive sword. That magazine was the first printed games magazine I can remember awarding a 9/10 (except for the Abe's odyssey/exodus series). Before that article I wanted Teken II and nothing else; afterwards (when I received an unexpected PS1 for Christmas [my family has always been firmly P.C]), I saved up for 3 months to buy FF7 and, by the god I don't believe in, it was AMAZING. I acknowledge that I am viewing FF7 through rose tinted glasses a mile wide but whenever I think of Final Fantasy, that cover of the Official Play station magazine, with Cloud Strife and the buster Sword against an orange background springs instantly to mind.
P.S I'm now a P.C gamer wishing the Square/Enix could make a game as good as FFIX again. PS1=PSP :p hence why the best console ATM is the PSP. The PSP is the only console that I can play the best games I've ever experienced on my t.v.
Much love JMW.

The fact that FreeForums has stopped working on my laptop (the only computer that WOULD run it for some reason in my household) and I haven't been to my friends' roleplaying forum in a month.

Then the One Winged Angel song.

Not so much a character.

Just hair.

Hair in weird colours and styles that sticks out like it's the eternal sunday morning of the damned.

Oddly enough, when I saw this thread earlier, Tidus. Now I come to post though, any of the various Cids. You have to admit, Al-Cid Margrace (FF XII) and Cid Highwind (FF VII) are the two coolest Cids in the entire series. Though admittedly Balthier's dad Cid is also awesome (and he has a cool English accent, too!).
