Not to mention that they blatantly screwed over the original storyline by just saying in the TOR website a while ago that Revan 'failed' in his quest.

There's only one personnal thing that bothers me: Bioware not making KOTOR 3. Not only that, but They said that TOR is KOTOR 3, 4 , 5 and 6...

I'm going to say "dick move guys".
You seem to think that there was anything left to do with that little segment of history? KotOR is done, dude, get over it. Revan's story was given resolution, and KotOR II didn't happen, so you might as well skip forward to see how your actions in the first game might influence the galaxy in the long term.

If you're gonna call it a WoW clone, you should really go call it an Everquest clone.
Seriously, stop trolling.

I feel the same way about every mmo I've played. Nothing has really compared to that experience. Chasing the dragon, almost literally. Sorry for that.

A lot of people are just skeptical. Some are just jaded and miffed from past bitter experiences with MMOs. Some of us have been around for a while, and we keep an "eagle's eye" on the goings ons of the MMO world.

That being said, I'm personally looking forward to the Old Republic. It's definitely not very unique however, and I recognize this. It's not going for a "target audience", it's trying to hit everyone. So it might turn out to be a rather 'simple' experience.

I'm also not a fan of the, 'you will play as a hero of the universe' crap, because it goes against all the reasons why I want to play a MMO. I want to play in an online world, and be a part of it. Journeying to common goals with others, and only being able to conquer great things with the aid of a trusty band of adventurers. As a community. "Everyone is a big hero" is going the way of Age of Conan, which was just sad. There is literally only one story that everyone follows in AoC, and the story is literally: "You are the lone hero/savior" story. Pathetic and it rips you away from the immersion of the world.

However, TOR's "story" is going to be very dynamic, and will vary greatly based on your choice of class and faction. It also changes based on your decisions and your companions, similar to past Bioware games. So I'll be able to live with it, and hopefully feel immersed in a world with others all the same.

Bioware game with beautifully scripted storyline Score 10.
Tedious leveling that comes with MMORPGs -2
The fact that every character really follows the same story, so its a bunch of clones running around with different names and stats, but really accomplishing the same goals and quests. -3
Less of a 'play like your a person in the starwars universe' more 'YOU ARE THE HERO, YOU ARE LEGENDARY, BUT OH WAIT, SO IS EVERYONE!!! Garbage they are preaching almost every dev interview. -3

Game gets a score of 2 out of 10 = FAIL
A-fucking-men brother.

Only you forgot one thing; Not Knights of the Old Republic 3, -10

So the actual score? -8 out of 10. Not to mention that they blatantly screwed over the original storyline by just saying in the TOR website a while ago that Revan 'failed' in his quest.

...That's it? Two fucking brilliant games worth of story and THAT'S what you give us for closure? Fuck you Bioware, Fuck you.

If it weren't for Mass Effect and Dragon Age, I would absolutely dispise them at this point.
because the world revolves around our needs right I mean your engaging in self pity over a video game you win the pathedic person of the day award.

you condemn the game before it even comes otu and are not even going to give it a chance despite bio ware excellent recond because you want to have a i hate mmorpgs cring fest
Bioware's record gives it a 10, added crappy mmorpg elements diminishes that. You can't just say a dev house that has made outstanding singleplayer RPG games will make a MMORPG game that will be of the same quality.

That is like saying just because someone is good at making novels, they could automatically direct movies just as well. Sure both jobs are telling a story, but talent doesn't transfer that way.

Point out to me exactly where I stated that I hate MMO's. Point it out precisely.

I don't hate MMORPGs either, but there are ways to make them and there are ways not too. In my head a MMORPG should be like a table-top RPG, a conduit to play out an adventure with friends in a vast world. 90% of MMORPGs out there have one point, and that is to grind away levels to be the best of the best, then..... profit?

Make an MMO that gives me the freedom to really RPG, than we'll talk.

well I dont think thats fail that like saying if a car company starts a new line its automatically going to be crap because they have never done it before and that scathing insult
I'd say its more like a car company branching out to make trains. (One transports one or two people, the other is mass transit, get it?)
Sure, they might not be crap, but most assuredly they aren't going to be the next masterpiece. If this was their second go at an MMORPG I wouldn't be so hostile. The fact that they are taking a very good universe that already has been taking a huge blow to its credibility and image (See, Star wars the force unleashed 2) for the last couple of years.
Sony already tried and ruined Starwars Galaxies, and they had a history in MMORPGs, whos to say this new player in the market can do any better?

It's a PC MMO, only problem I have with it. I don't have the money to get a new PC when most games come out on console anyway, and don't have enough free time to put into a MMO.

I don't think you'll have to worry about Mass Effect 3, TOR isn't slated for release until at least 2012.

Personally, I can't wait. If it takes all the good things from WoW (and its first expansion), and adds some more innovation like BioWare usually do, it can't be bad. That alone isn't enough to make it against the might of WoW, but add Star Wars and you start off with such a huge base of people who are at least slightly interested.
...You serious?

They've been saying Q1 of 2011 for almost a year now. At the very latest, they've said, it'll be out September 2011.

Hell, there's even some rumor-talk about ME3 being released late-2011. Nevermind, they just announced ME3 WILL be released Holiday season 2011. Rumors prevail once more.

Best be checkin' your facts. <.<

As far as I care for the actual topic at hand, I haven't seen much hate. Perhaps a few people being too overly judgmental because they have not done the thorough research, or biased people who hate MMO's.

And I say fuck em. I have never taken off time from anything to play a game, but I WILL be taking a week off, no matter what, when TOR is released. I can't be taken seriously as Big Boss if I'm level 1, now can I? ;]

Whoops, seems my knowledge is severely outdated. It says Q2/Q3 now. Oh well, that means it's here earlier than expected :D

And Mass Effect 3's teaser said 'Holiday 2011', which I assume is around this time next year.
