I have associated Muse with a happy period in my life. Also I kinda like them. Not all of their songs though, which is only natural, since I NEVER like all the songs of a band. Except SoaD maybe...

Oh, and also this

Yeah I don't like Muse that much either. I can tolerate them because they are quite good songwriters, but Bellamy's vocals do grate on me. I'm also a huge fan of The Mars Volta and Coheed & Cambria, and other bands like Circa Survive, so I have a pretty high tolerance for high-pitched singers, but Matt Bellamy just gets on my nerves.

They say you can't really judge Muse until you see them live, because that's where they really shine. Well I say that if you NEED to see a band live for their music to work, they're not worth listening to.

Also Bellamy is a terrible lyricist.

Their music is not 150% but it is most definately infectious music for many people. Just because you are immune does not mean you should be confused.

I understand that people can like a music group that the next person doesn't. Its called taste .

**EDIT**

Honestly, I cannot see why people love them so much? I really like Coheed and Cambria, Mars Volta, Dream Theater, Rush, Unkle, Tool, and so forth, but I cannot stand his voice, Their instrumentals seem uninspired to me, they just seem bland to me.

Now I know we are all entitled to our own opinions, but I would like a Muse fan explain to me why they are so "awesome". I also would like to hear if someone shares my same feelings for them as well. Let it begin!
Because they're awesome. Also, I like the bands you've named too, so it's all good.

I like the music of muse. I don't like Matt Bellamy, since I find him to be a little pretentious and waaaaaaaaaaay too much into conspiracy theories. As long as imagine he is just a singing guitaing manniquinn, we get along fine. :)

You like coheen and cambria and your knocking the dude from muse for his voice? Sorry i just dont get that.

EDIT: not a fan of any of these bands listed.
I know its weird, but Claudio's voice grew on me. I used to hate Coheed with a passion, now I really dig them. To me it feels that Muse trys to be Avant Garde, which defeats the whole purpose. Atleast Claudio is telling an awesome ass story.
yeah, A story thats harder to follow than a jack rabbit with jet boots.

If your looking for good music look no further than FIGHTSTAR!

Sorry, this I had to reply to. Oh, oh depressing.

Buste- I mean Fightstar are a terrible terrible band with bland unoriginal songs.
Muse are alright, and certain sections of their songs absolutely own.

But Mastodons new album trumps everything. Seriously.

Hell, makes more sense than Coldplay. Chris Martin can't sing, and yet they're immensly popular. What the hell is going on?
'Viva la Vida' is also supposed to be plagiarized. From whom, I can't recall.

They are average to me, just like all the bands you listed. I like some of their songs but thats about it. Usually people love certain bands because of their style and it appeals to them in more ways than one.

I actually find them quite bland but I can see why other people like them. The music is very well structured.
I was thinking the same thing about the song structure. I actually like the singer's voice but it can seem whiny at times. I love their drummer though. I also respect three person bands. Like Chevelle, except that only their first album doesn't suck.

I think mainly it's their excellence live...i mean honestly...New Born from Haarp is much better than the original album version! It's the brilliant riffs as well...and the singing isn't that bad...Feeling Good is probably one of the better vocals performancea :) well each to their own anyway...by the way, i like all those other bands too

Okay,my point is to see why people like them, so that I can know what to listen for. If I had been told that Coheed was about a sci-fi story, then I might of liked them in the beginning. It seems that the consensus is that the singing is meh, but the instrumentals are awesome.

Those groups don't seem much like Muse. It's like someone asking why they don't like Radiohead, yet like Dragonforce. Muse's music leans more towards the genre of rock, whilst those groups lead more towards metal.

I can understand why people can be turned off by Matt's voice, but I like it. I also like their skills at playing music and writing music. Also their live performances are good as well.

But then again, tastes in music vary. I don't like Tool for example. I think their music is depressing and monotonous yet I don't complain about it, as even a group one person thinks of as the worst group in the world can be liked by someone else.
