Honestly, I cannot see why people love them so much? I really like Coheed and Cambria, Mars Volta, Dream Theater, Rush, Unkle, Tool, and so forth, but I cannot stand his voice, Their instrumentals seem uninspired to me, they just seem bland to me.

Now I know we are all entitled to our own opinions, but I would like a Muse fan explain to me why they are so "awesome". I also would like to hear if someone shares my same feelings for them as well. Let it begin!
Don't suppose I'm quite the kind of fan you're looking for, I haven't any knowledge of their most recent albums, but I never regretted getting Absolution.
Really it's all down to preference I guess, the only objective measure I could offer is a little DVD extra I saw which broke down the creation of the marching noise at the beginning of "Apocalypse Please", which was layered together out of a number of different audio samples with different acoustics.
For something that only makes 20-odd seconds out of the album, that was quite an attention to detail.

I can only say this... "Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder".

It doesn't explain much, but that's the way it is. I like MUSE because I think they're excellent, isn't that enough?

--Xvito, keeping it excellent.

They have the best live performance ever and although his voice can be a bit whiny, the guitarring is insane and the loops are brilliant.

There's this funny thing called personal taste. I do not like cream. This does not mean that cream is bad.

I happen to dislike metal, and I do not see the attraction, because it is not my style. I like Muse because their music suits my tastes. It's quite simple really.

well musically, they are very good.

I dont mind people having their opinion, but when the dig on a band just because people like them, then that is dumb. you dont have to listen to them if you dont like them but all i ask is that yoy dislike the corporate music whores who are ruining the music industry, and Muse really arent them
Corporate Whores?

You know muse is on Rock band and queertar hero right?
yep I know, and they have kinda gone slightly OTT with their latest set of gigs, but they are a real band, they arent being controlled by someone for money, they just play music because they love it, Im sure money plays a part but they arent corporate puppets.

just listen to their lyrics as well, awesome (in my opinion) and very anti-government and such

From what I can gather from all these replies, people just like them for their guitar riffs, and thats pretty much it.

I too find muse unbearably bland.. well, most of their songs at least... they do have like 2 good ones... one being assassin... but yeah aside those... they're one of most boring bands i've ever heard, they're to slow for one thing...

eughh muse... or more to the point eughhh Matt Belamy.

I hate muse with a passion because of Matt's voice. He sings at the pitch of a wailing baby. If it was higher or lower muse would be listenable to.

If they kicked out Bellamy and replaced him with a better singer. Then i would find muse a good to very good band. Its just his singing. eugh.

(oh and in my experience; over-obsessive fans who push muse too much.)
I agree with him too, get rid if the singer and they're on the way to being much better.

They're very talented and versatile but they can sometimes come across as too pretentious.

You sir are just plain old wrong. Muse can put on a show like no one else I've seen.

Also, to the stupid people saying get rid of Matt Bellamy, you realise that he writes most of the songs as well as singing and either playing lead guitar or piano. He is not a replaceable member.

Anyone is replacable, but would they be better without him is the real question. Look at bands like AcDc and Black Sabbath.

Hell, makes more sense than Coldplay. Chris Martin can't sing, and yet they're immensly popular. What the hell is going on?
'Viva la Vida' is also supposed to be plagiarized. From whom, I can't recall.
Joe Satriani's "If I Could Fly".
Satriani- that's it!
Thanks man.

I love Muse, they have the the highest play count on my iTunes of any other band since this winter.

About his voice, are you guys daft? Thats not his real voice, he sings falsetto very frequently. For those that don't know what that is wiki says "falsetto is most often used in the context of singing to refer to a type of vocal phonation that enables the singer to sing notes beyond the vocal range of the normal or modal voice." The high pitch he sings in is fake, so for him to be able to do it so amazingly in a rock band is awesome. Also it's obviously a matter of preference, not an absolute thing.

Although I'm surprised by the songs you fans like. I had Starlight, Map Of The Problematique, and Bliss stuck in my head much more than the rest. Maybe it's because of a personal take on the lyrics, but yes.

Not a fan. I was immediately put off by the people that were singing their praises, but when I gave them a try, I found them to be quite boring. Nothing I haven't heard before, and nothing really interesting about them.

It's personal opinion. For me, Muse is in my top 10 bands. One of the few non-metal bands I like, along with Depeche Mode and Billy Talent.

God, why does everyone have a problem with a band that they don't like and every one else loves?
If you don't like them, that's fine. But seriously shut up about it.

Knights of Cydonia has a 4 minute build up to a pretty unimpressive climax and Starlight? Don't get me started on starlight. I don't know what kind of barby doll teenie bopper bullshit they were trying to pull with starlight, but it's just... just awful.

I'll put it like this, I've been a muse fan for 8 years, if I never had to hear another song off of Black Holes and Revelations I'd be very happy.
Well, personally, I quite like Starlight, but there are reasons for that song appealing to me more than it otherwise would. That said, the latest album just doesn't compare to Absolution, really...

I love Muse because I love their songs.
That's usually what must happen for you to become a fan.

I also find them very refreshing compared to the shit load of bland and untalented ~rock bands we're getting these days.
I just hope they're not going in the same direction as BHAR for The Resistance.
Can't wait for September.
