I sense a Very "Flamey-type" War approaching.
It seems that your Flame-War sense has about the same delay as Jill Valentine's Hooker sense (see Yahtzee's RE stuff).
I've already seen it. And I don't patrol 24/7 so my Captain Obvious moments aren't as spontanious as I'd like them to be.

The notion of 'Exclusives' is one that pisses me off muchly.

I can understand a 'technical' Exclusive (ie: where the other machine just won't cut it), and I accept the notion of 'brand' Exclusives (if Sony make it, why would they give it to the opposition?), but where Microsoft pissed me off the most is how they bought out the likes of the Fallout 3 DLC.

Is there any technical reason the DLC can't be on the PS3? No. The PS3 seems to actually run a superior version of Fallout 3 (based on the untold thousands of bug reports that litter the internet). Therefore, the DLC should be available on the PS3.

Is there any 'brand' reason? No. Fallout 3 is on the PS3. Therefore, it is multiplatform and the DLC should be available.

So, we're left with Microsoft playing the Arsehole and hogging it. That doesn't make me want a 360, it makes me want to see Microsoft crash and burn as punishment for their arrogant ways.
...
But hogging a game just for the sake of not letting the other guy have it? Bad form...
Then you're going to hate this:
PS3 IS getting inFamous and Uncharted 2 exclusively but all the DLC for those games are 360 exclusives. If MS can't have it, than nobody will.

I see. That's too bad, but it's not like being ever-vigilant is plausible; it's just a saying. Oh, and I had to reference ZP, since I couldn't be sure you had seen it, and it might've seemed offensive to anyone who hadn't.

Oh yeah, my rebuttle was mainly a joke :D
And I don't blame you, it could have been offensive to somebody new.

Seriously, it feels like the Xbox 360 is getting left behind in the exclusives department. Whereas the PS3 is having a field day with titles like "God of War III", "inFamous" and "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves". The last big Xbox 360 exclusives were "Gears of War 2" and "Fable 2" and that was last year! I'm sure there have been some Xbox exclusives I may have overlooked, but that's probably because they weren't significant. Right now I kinda wish I'd bought a PS3 instead of my 360. Hopefully the new Halo: ODST will make up for the relatively small lineup us Xbox owners have been left with this year.
God of War 3 < Ninja Gaiden 2 (and to add insult to injury, you can play NG1 on your 360)
inFamous = Crackdown basically
Uncharted 2 = Well ya got me there but oh well.

The console cycle ebbs and flows each way, some years are up and some are down, but the point is to stick to your guns and enjoy what you've got (since 360 has more exclusives anyways). Believe me, Microsoft will have stuff to announce in a month's time as well as updates on stuff we already knew about.

I'm surprised you have time to stop and *****, I'm too busy catching up on all the games I have that I haven't beaten yet (or that I'm not tired of).

Edit: Oh, and Halo Wars, the Fallout 3 DLC, GTA L&TD, and Left 4 Dead would all like to have a word with you.

Dude Gears of War 2 was released in November of 2008, 6 months ago, same with Fable 2. Not really last year. Besides, do you really judge how good a console is doing based solely on the exclusive titles released for it. There's a bunch of great games for the 360. Just because they're not exclusive doesn't mean it's getting left behind.
Well the PS3 also has free online gaming and a blu-ray player so those are other reasons why I kind of wish I had bought a PS3 instead of a 360.
Dude, free online isn't a big deal. XBL is, what, 4 bucks a month? That a combo meal at McDonald's. Your complaining about missing out on a BigMac for 30 days of entertainment? Besides, the 360 had its turn in exclusives, now its the PS3's time. Most developers can't stand the PS3 anyways. Wonder why there's no L4D on the PS3, or DLC for TF2 and Fallout 3? I can see why people want a PS3, but regretting purchasing a console actual worth your time for the past 4 years? I'm sorry, but my PS3 and Wii have been colecting dust for the past 3 years, only ocasionally getting dusted off.

Yeah I would wait to hear what e3 has to bring to start talking about exclusives maybe Microsoft is keeping with the year ahead thing they had going last year. Either way both systems have some great games on them.

I guess I would not really throw God of War and Ninja Gaiden in the same category maybe play style but Ninja Gaiden is more of a "You think your good enough to beat me huh do you punk I will chew you up and spit you out." Where God of War always has been a little more focused on puzzle, platforming, story telling, exploration, and causing the most destruction to as many people as possible type game play.
At least that is the vibe I got from playing both Ninja Gaiden and God of war games. They are both great games though and hopefully God of War 3 will be more of that game play I fell in love with the series for.

Oh, and to keep the Fanboys happy, I'm sure that there's probably a multi-platform game where the PS3 gets exclusive content and the 360 doesn't... it's just that I don't actually care enough to go through and find them, so I've plucked the most obvious example I know of out of the air (GTA4 as well, but I consider that game so shit that you'd have to pay me to get me to download it).

I don't particularly feel that consoles shouldn't have exclusives, but I feel they should be exclusive for the right reasons. If the crew who make the Uncharted games say the 360 can't run their titles, fine. If they're owned by Sony, fine. Hell, if they think Microsoft are a bunch of evil little shits, then good on them for taking the high road and turning down the cash in favour of integrity.

But hogging a game just for the sake of not letting the other guy have it? Bad form...
Not be insulting, but that whole rant seems kinda silly. I mean the only reason companies do anything like exclusive DLC at all is for the benjamins. I seriously doubt they care what your "right reasons" are. Let's take your Fallout 3 DLC for example. Let's propose the following situation:

You're Bethesda. You've made fallout 3 for all platforms to solid success. I don't have the exact numbers but let's say that Xbox360 outsold PS3 2 to 1. With PC running a close 3rd. Now you're looking at DLC to develop...

Microsoft comes to you and says "hey bethesda, we'll give you eleventy billion dollars to make the DLC for only the Xbox and the PC"

Now, you were going to develop for Xbox and PC anyway, because Xbox was the biggest seller and the port to PC is a fairly quick and easy process (or vice-versa, take your pick). At this point you have 2 options:

1) Give M$ the finger because you're afraid the 'net is going to call you greedy, spend the development time and resources porting to the unfriendly PS3 architecture, only to recieve fewer sales due to the smaller install base (least-sold system domestically, and least sold copies of your game), and the reduction in profit from the developer fees for DLC on the PSN. Maybe you put your chances at making the money back off the DLC to be, optimistically: 75%

2) Take the eleventy billion dollars from MS. Do what you were going to do anyway and not lose a thing other than a few sales on the PSN that the money from MS is making up for anyway. Put development resources on task of new game development.

Bird in the hand worth 2 bush, which choice do you take?

Oh and let's not forget that in this scenario you're a business that has to make money to pay employees and creditors, not some guy that only has a PS3.

Because after a few years of "settling in," Sony is finally ready to spread it's wings in the next generation of consoles. Or at least that's the excuse they came up with for the last E3, but I'm beginning to believe they really don't have some sort of "master plan" and are really just going through every exclusive they can hold on to in the hope that they'll find one that will sell their system.

The climate has changed though. Sure, exclusives are an important selling point for systems, but more and more games are dropping exclusivity, possibly because companies know that will sell more copies. Microsoft has been smart in buying up exclusivity of DLC, as it gives its version a deal-breaking edge whenever a decision over which version to buy arises. Further, Microsoft has established a much friendlier and accessible online system. And even though it is nice that PSN is free, I must admit that in some sick, twisted way, charging for an online system gives it a sense of value (and also a set of standards to live up to). Not to mention, on a rather contradictory note, that the Xbox 360 has more good online games than the PS3.

But now it's Sony turn, or at least that seems to be the general sentiment. However, running through the thread, I've only encountered three exclusives for the PS3 that anyone seems to care about. I myself am only truly interested in God of War 3 (although I will admit I do wonder how inFamous will turn out). So, they're releasing a few exclusives, only one of which I can really be sure will be any good. I really don't think that constitutes a "field day" for the PS3.

Granted. this is rather hard for me to say, as I myself own a PS3. Something's definitely gone wrong when I've had the system for six months and only felt compelled to get two games for the system. I will admit that MGS4 was excellent and LBP was good, but combine the two and your lucky to get 30 hours out of the experience. There was no reason to get anything else for the system, as there are no other interesting exclusives and I'd rather play all the other games on my 360 for a myriad of reasons.

So I can't agree that "all the good exclusives are coming out for the PS3," but I do wish they were, if for no other reason than to redeem my choice in getting the system.

because thats what happened, there will be more exclusives down the line for both systems
Well, lets think about it. Microsofts first party sucks, and is effectively where talent goes to die (Lets see, they've killed Ensemble, ACES, FASA, Indie Built, sucked the life out of Rare, forced the more talented people to abandon Lionhead, yeah, I think its fair to say that). They don't have the tech advantage, so they can't tempt people with ambition. Realistically, where are Microsoft going to get more exclusives? Or, to put it differently, more exclusives that are worth two craps?
Isn't MS kind of famous for buying its consoles exclusives

InFamous is the only game Sony has ever gotten an exclusive for that made me drool. The rest is either insanely mediocre or obnoxious japanime.

I'll stick with my buggy, crash-prone 360.

The day Tales of Vesperia PS3 version is confirmed for US release is the day I buy a ps3.. that's like the last game that's xbox exclusive that I'd even consider getting a 360 for. Not to mention getting the Ninja Gaiden II PS3 version, GoW 3, FF versus 13 (yes the 360 gets the menu based FF13 too, but they're not getting the action rpg, which I prefer to menu based). I'm not interested in console FPS's (unless they use a Wiimote, can't wait for conduit), so really MS has nothing I'm interested in.. and I dislike the Xbox 360 as far as hardware goes.. I'd feel much better having a better piece of hardware. My roommate's 360 has bricked twice and had to be repaired and it took a long time. I also prefer the PS controller setup over the 360 controller... so come on Namco-Bandai.. announce it for us.. pretty please? :D

Less console shooters and RTS's (they work better on PC), more JRPG's, action RPG's, adventure games, platforming (and action platformers like Megaman), and hack and slash.. that's what's going to interest me on a PS3/360.. For shooters.. PC and Wii please (battlefront 3 was rumored to have a Wii port.. I hope so! Otherwise.. PC version).. actually adventure games work great on the Wii too.. Metroid, Zelda, something like DMC would be fun as hell on the Wii I think.

Sorry Xbros.. you had your head start and a good library but frankly your hardware is terrible and you don't have exclusives worth caring about.

Um. What?
Details. I'm making a point to say it wasn't that long ago. He's freaking over something that wasn't that long ago.
