I don't think anyone cares about the emo crew anymore. What's the new "My life sucks I hate you" trend?

Zombeenagers ?

emos, or "false emos" as described earlier, use their 'unhappiness' to fish for compliments and hide behind their insecurity saying they'll kill themselves when someone calls them on it. its attention seeking in its worst form, people that ACTUALLY are suicidal, don't go telling everyone and displaying it to the world, they become reclusive and withdrawn, only telling a few specific and trusted people if they are losing their will to live, or more likely, they tell no-one, as part if being suicidal is giving up hope on everything and everyone.

there are some people that just like the music and clothes, but some use it as an excuse to say and do what they want and get there own way, because its human nature to try and care for someone who is considering suicide, they get away with it. I can't stand it, next time you see a middle-class, intelligent kid who could have a bright future saying they are suicidal and always depressed, tell them to get help, or call their bluff, 10 to 1 they wont go through with it, if they do, natural selection is a *****...
i'm not saying bully them, that is not that way to go, but don't play to them, they need to grow the fuck up

I do wear clothes that are - most of it, at least - black, and even dyed my hair black some time earlier this year (though which I'm already growing out).

But the thing is, I don't listen to emo rock, I'm actually a really, really cheery and optimistic person, I prefer other fashions on people than emo and goth (kind of hypocritical, but then again, I only wear black clothes and have black hair, I don't really look that emo'ish even) and don't really like them, I don't cut myself (if I'm cheery and optimistic, why should I?) and I really don't hang out with any emo people at all.

So I guess what I'm going towards, is that the only thing vaguely emo about me is the colour of my clothes. Wait, scratch that. Most of my clothes are generally more, like, just dark, not even black.

Yet, some people (though they're few) call me "emo", most of them as an insult. I remember when I didn't have black hair, and every time a battle of insults initiated, people usually really didn't have anything to say about me (except for the usual "You're a ). Nowadays (though, again, doesn't happen that often), some people call me "emo" as an insult as a last straw. One girl I met in the summer called me that every time we met, even though throughout summer, the only thing black on me was, on occasion, my t-shirt (wore white and colourful t-shirts more often), and, again, my hair.

I think it's pretty petty, and really shows how some people think of the phrase "emo" more as just someone who, I don't know, fucking, has black hair (I've always been partial to dark clothes), instead of what it was meant to mean.

But eh, I know what the term means, and whatever they mean by it, I don't really take any of that into heart. I know myself better than they, especially as they are making absurd and baseless accusations based purely on the colour of my hair.

No-one hates them, they're just an easy target. The 'gothier' fashion-styles think they're pussies for not pushing the boundaries enough, and in the way they like, and everyone else finds them weird enough to insult.

It's just the one-size-fits-all social-outcast joke. In short, it's just lazy.

I'm still puzzeled at how 'emo' came to be known as a seperate entity from 'Goth'.Goths are emotional aren't they?..shit come to think of it so was my grandmother.

Come to think of it my curiosity about emos just committed suicide.

I dislike the stereotype because of getting called one a lot myself simply because I enjoy wearing dark clothing, listen to things with screaming (metal included), having medium length hair and not bursting with constant optimism 24/7. Which in my opinion would be unhealthy.

Hello fellow escapists!
A thought just struck me, why do most of us hate emos? They may be down and depressed. But why do we hate those who choose to wear black and dispise the conformus. They are probably the most hated social group, but are they so much worse than us others? I personally don't find them that irritating there are plenty of other people who are way worse...
because they say by wearing all black and listening to the same type of music they are unique and different from people who are just trying to be themselves. also because they go 'my life sucks and I should die' over things like they can't watch a movie or they have to follow the rules.

Maybe people just have a problem with emos because they feel that emos are trying to make it seem like theyre the only ones suffering, or just depressed?

Im not sure, Im just guessing.

Because they listen to the worst music in the fucking world. I'm serious, The Jonas Brothers are better than every whiny, two cord playing ****** emo band. I can't even say the name of any without cringing.

If your opinion of the emo is a negative one, what makes you think everyone shares the same derogative view.

I by no stretch hate "scene kids" but it's a phase we all go through, during which we find out own identities.

I don't hate people that have emo style or listen to emo music because they like it. But most emos TRY and be emo. They wear emo clothes and stuff to be 'alternative.' In trying to be different they are purposefully becoming a stereotype. Even if they like mainstream stuff they won't be involved in it because they see mainstream as bad. It struck me the other day people are only different if they are themselves, and emos aren't being themselves by trying too hard. I like lots of mainstream stuff, like rom-coms, R&B music, clothes from H&M or Primark. I also like Lostprophets and indie films and spiky belts. By being a mix of both I'm more different than the alternative and mainstream followers who think and dress and act the same but I don't give a shit because I'm just being myself and I'm happy like it. I don't pretend to like or dislike stuff and I'm happy that way :)

EVERYBODY READ THIS, YOU IGNORANT MORONS:
EMO IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS, IT'S A DEAD SUBGENRE OF HARDCORE PUNK. Emo is not pop-punk dressed in black like MCR or modern rock like Fallout Boy, it's completely different, and the reason why the label 'emo' was applied to something it bears no resemblance to is beyond me. I'll probably put on probation for this, because this site does not encourage true free speech, and people hate to think they are wrong, but PLEASE, READ THESE AND STOP BEING SO GODDAMNED STUPID:

http://www.freewebs.com/youdontknowemo/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo

I seriously hate how so many people can be so ignorant.
Genres grow into new things. Rock isn't what is was back in the 70s, emos are now different then what they used to be.

And, unfortunately for emos lovers, they are trendy ironic attention seeking conformists.

Genres also don't turn into the POLAR OPPOSITE of what they were.

Because they are a bunch of whiny crybabies that won't suck it up and take responsibility for their lives? And/Or they refuse to accept society? Not that there is anything wrong with having your own personality, I mean a world where everyone was the same would be terrible, but completely severing ties with reality is another thing.

Because they want to be hated, psychologically. They deserve no sympathy, but by hating them we're feeding the beast. Best to just treat them as average, because it's hard to get through.

They're whiney, they look androgynous, their music is whiney, they do terrible covers of good music, they wear freakish clothes, they wear make up like panda's and are not Immortal or Kiss, they tend to be narrow minded, they exist to follow a trend before moving onto the next having no opinion of their own, they all sit outside the nearby Cathedral doing jack shit for hours, they destroy the earth with all the chemicals in their fringes, they have about 100 different genres of music that end in core some of which even use good music like "metal" (Metalcore) at the start despite not being metal, they do that spazzy flailing rather mosh in pits, they are mainstream for the sake of it, the bands get famous for being on myspace and how they look rather than earning their status, they will like bands that are metal on rare occasions then the band will be associated with emo's even if they sing songs about hating emo's they will still like the band, they ruin some bands for people who heard of them more than 2 years ago, they use the word "LOL" off the computer, they seem to be everywhere, 92% of them are bisexual because being bisexual is the new small dog in a handbag, their idea of rebeling is pop punk, punk is bands like All Time Low to emo's and the Ramones don't seem to exist, they know nothing about the history of music, they broke my headphones, they turned some of my friends into mindless zombies, they all hop on a bandwagon that's gotten far to big, they get good stores closed down, they spam the word "Poser" at everything and anything that isn't themselves, they get tattoo's and piercings they'll regret in 5 years when they fad dies out, they stretch peircings, they barrage crap music constantly on the radio, they buy their status's, all of their friends are also their children or wives of facebook, Varg doesn't like them and so many other reasons why I don't like them.

They really should put Burzum on my college jukebox so I could blast Black Metal into their puny ear drums.

Short and simple: They have everything, and they complain about it.

Someone who actually has problems wouldn't have time to complain.
