That was pretty epic. Batman is awesome enough to avoid the omega beam.

Batman works for one simple reason:

A hero is only as intresting as his weakness.

sure its cool to see superman win without trying once or twice, but eventually you get bored of that. Batman can be killed by anything, but the fact that he manages to triumph makes him all the more awsome. its far more entertaining to watch a weakling win against overwhealming odds then it is an invincible man with god like powers. If you don't belive me then pay attention to how many stories are about an underdog coming out on top.

That is an excellent point. Superman starts to get boring after a while whereas Batman doesn't. Also, while Batman isn't a weakling by far, it's still good to know that he is only human.

I never understood the "Not a Superhero" Arguement. Since when did "Super" necessarily mean "Superpowered?"

Dictionary.com (numbers slightly revised)
?adjective
1.of the highest degree, power, etc.
2.of an extreme or excessive degree.
3.Informal . very good; first-rate; excellent.
4.(of measurement) superficial.

Hero
1.a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.
2.a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal: He was a local hero when he saved the drowning child.

I'd say Batman fits for both Super and Hero. Thus qualifying him as a superhero.
I agree with this 100%, Superheroes do not need powers. Case in point Hawkeye of the Avengers, people can't cop out and call him a vigilante, because almost the complete majority of the time he's in a US government and UN approved team. He has no powers but still rumbles with the big boys and that makes him super in my book. Also Captain America is another example but his abilities/origin can be debated, but he's meant to be peak-human, not super.

Mostly ever superhero I know of is incredibly stupid, in my opinion. Batman however, has a certain air of awesome through the silliness. Like James Bond.

i dont think the problem here is batman, batman is an awesome superhero, if you consider the fact that hes in a somewhat realistic world, but compared to other superheroes hed get his ass kicked in a sec "superman lets figh..... heat vision TO THE FACE".
Though Batman has, on more that one occasion, laced the shit out of superman. He even comes within an inch of killing Superman at one point, though he stops before he finishes him. He does it to prove the point that if I had to... He could.

Yeah my favourite out there is Batman, The Punisher coming in close second, Deadpool after that. I prefer heroes that can handle them selves without the need of superpowers and I've liked Batman ever since watching Batman:TAS as a child. Liked him a whole lot more when I started reading the comics in my early teens.

Batman is the best superhero ever. He doesn?t need powers to save Gotham because every time batman saves the day he does it with his intelligence, skill and gadgets

Batman is kinda lame tbh. He always faces off against several foes, but not ONCE have they shot him in the face. Hey, it doesn't take a marksman, just one dude with a sawed off shotgun.

If I were a crime boss in Gotham, I'd equip all my guys with sawed off shotguns and tell them to aim for Batman's face. That'd show that smug bastard.

Plus, he may have nice armor, but even Batman couldn't repel a 50 caliber sniper round straight in the chest. It'd likely rip off his arm or leg as well, if not crush the flesh and bones inside completely.

Basically, Batman is a tosser (that is, crazy lamer) who has been lucky enough to be blessed with incredibly stupid foes who don't know how to operate high powered rifles or simple armaments and they all suck at aiming.

It's just kinda meh. Every comic or movie is the same. Why even bother with the fancy armor and junk when he's always invulnerable, unless it somehow fits the plot that he miraculously gets poisoned or whatever?

On top of that, it's getting really old to see criminals scared of him. What's there to be scared about? He's friggin' Batman, a guy in a costume with tech gadgets. Every single other DC hero knows this, as well as the public at large. Yet, the criminals have not caught on to this and still treat him as if he's some kind of shadowy monster come real. Bah!

Booooooring!

Batman doesn't have the 'AMAZING POWER' of ingenuity. If that was so, then Orson Scott Card would have been classed a superhero.

Batman's just a douche in a cloak who thinks he can turn into a bat in the cartoon series.

I don't know if the public in the DC universe know he's powerless. They certainly know he's on a super-team with others and does in fact exist, but I think this would lend to the public assuming he must have powers to compete with the likes of Superman.

Of course Batman would get killed in a straight up fight, but he's meant to pick the criminals off one by one playing on their fear of him. As for not being hit in the face, in several comics they've mentioned the symbol on his chest is often gold to draw attention in the dark, villain's shoot at the strongest part of his chest rather than his face. Also the combination of moving quickly and his cape present a larger target.

As for the .50cal, they have to see him to actually shoot him and knowing Batman he'd have knocked them out first. Unless they're a mile away, in which their chances of hitting him in the dark and while moving is slim and I don't think mobsters are going to go to such an effort for every little drug deal that goes on.

I feel the only judge of superhero best-ness is a battle. And, honestly, how could Batman beat Iron man? Or, god, Wolverine?
Yeah, Batman is cool because he is just an ordinary human (With insane amounts of money and great status allowing him to do most anything), but what would he even do against Super Skrull?
"Take that, Skrull!... what!?"
"That's right, Batman, I deflected the batarang with my force field. Now, watch as I immolate you!"
"Oh, no! He's so hot, stretchy, durable and invisible! ALL AT THE SAME TIME!"
EDIT: I will say that he works fantastically as a Vigilante- he inspires fear (I'd certainly imagine, he's fucking Batman. Bats.)
So, against the non-super scum and villainy of the world? Batman's your man, I'll admit that. Also shocker. Because Shocker is ridiculous.

Best DC hero maybe. They tend to be kind of dull.
Well said. Make Mine Marvel.

OT: Batman is the best because of the one thing that sets him apart from the rest.

This is the power scale: Where 1 is no skill whatsoever, 5 is average person and 10+ is the super range. On the skill scale most hero's register 10 or higher in their specific field and 15 is God.

Batman has no specific field, no specific trait; He's an all rounder. He registers at about and 8.5 on every skill. Because of this, he neutralizes most of the downfalls that specialists may have. So he may not hit above 10 for anyone one stat, he has a higher total of points than most specialists. Plus, he's a regular guy. Sure he has money and lots of training, but he's flesh blood. Given the right circumstance, anyone one of us could become him.
