Because they are "different" to other platform gamers, therefore must be argued with and ridiculed.
Just as anyone slightly different must be, it's actually nothing personal.
[small]It also works the other way around.[/small]

And why would I insult myself? I have two consoles, one of which is setting right next to my PC. As I explained (in the same post), merely owning a console does not make anyone a consoletard.

What do those "some" people have to do with me? I am not responsible for what they say, and what they say has nothing to do with my views.
You're personal definition of a word is not the definition for everyone. As I showed in the previous post, some people believe that all console gamers are console-tards and as a console owner that would include yourself. I was trying to say that as the term is used to describe all console players you can't justify it as a description of certain individuals. You're personal use of the term doesn't change shit, to be honest. Actually, I'm reminded of a recent South park episodes in which Fag is changed to mean someone that drives a Harley. Anyway, as long as it appears that someone is going to call all consoles gamers retards it stands to reason that they are considered elitist.

Dedicated servers are rare on consoles, if they exist at all. They're certainly not a standard feature that console gamers have come to expect. A command console doesn't exist in any console game to my knowledge, and console games also aren't exactly famous for their modding capabilities.

For the millionth, billionth fucking time (why does this have to be repeated ad infinitum?): the features IW went out of its way to remove are standard on the PC and existed in the previous game, and there is no reason whatsoever why the PC version should be gimped just because the console versions don't have and can't have certain features. Iw removed those features so they can extract money from the PC players by locking down custom content and taking full control over the multiplayer. That may be the console way, but it's not the PC way. PC gamers do not want their games lowered down to console standards.
Rainbow Six Vegas and it's sequel actually does have dedicated servers but that isn't important. In fact, you're actually proving my argument a little bit. IW offers a sub-par console port experience and PC gamers get justifiably insulted. An community who believes that they deserve something better than what a lot of other people get are quite elitist in my opinion.
Well we think every gamer should have the option of browsing a serverlist and play mods. I'm just confused as to why console players does not ask for this. They are missing out on years of content.

Again, Valve's fanbase consists mostly of PC gamers, and PC gamers are more willing to make noise if they don't like something.
So, you're saying that they feel like they are entitled to a better experience. So, they're elitist than? My argument right there, thanks for agreeing with me.
We should all ask for a better experience. Otherwise we are stupid. Like someone said "consumer whores".

I just like consoles for the sole reason that if I put a disc in to play a game, it works. I buy games for my pc and even though I have the hardware to run it, they just choose not to sometimes. Espesh with older games >_<.

A is sort of true, inspired by my console gamer-only friend who envys the PC's mods. i wont go into detail about what mods he envies in a forum because the stuff is kinda against the rules i think.
B is inspired by a person i know who thinks his way is the best way and anyone else who doesn't agree is wrong.
C is more of the common troll who tries to stoke the fire of the console wars.
D is the person i know who takes x-play's word over everyone else's. if that blonde haired dude (forgot his name) says something bad then the dude i know starts a crusade on x-play's behalf. The second portion of D (misinformation) relates to how people treat PC gamers on the grounds of stereotypes that dont apply to everyone.
E is about how console gamers mock PC gamers over loss of features in games that is CRUCIAL to the PC's success, then write it off as "nothing to cry about, console way is better" when it plays a big part. mistaking the PC as the same thing as a console is the worst mistake to make. its a different platform with different architecture for games then a console, it needs its own things in order to flourish but people sometimes forget different markets need different things. i think i covered all the bases on why PC gamers get so much hate other then the viewpoint difference which creates a FALSE illusion of elitism on each side of the argument which was mentioned before.
Would it kill you to punctuate?

It's not only PC gamers that get hate, but this thread is about that so I won't go into it. I didn't really want to get dragged into a debate over this any way I wanted to end it with my first post, where I said about everyone has preferences so let them be; even though I understand this isn't possible.

Really? Seems that you put a game in a 360 and you can be sure it won't work.

I don't have the money to invest in consoles, to be honest. Oh, sure, they're cheaper to buy, but then you notice all the games cost more (much more, as I rarely ever pay more than £20 for a PC game) than they used to, and multiplayer comes with a fee. I've wanted a console to play my beat'em ups, and racing games for a while, but I'm stuck with my PS2. Which is OK, but a bit dated.

Also, re: entitlement. Don't you think if someone pays money, they're pretty entitled to say 'this is rubbish, do better.' Also, a completely hypothetical example to counter the counter argument that declares that the people who didn't buy the game are acting entitled by complaining it's rubbish - don't you think the corporation making the game would actually appreciate people bitching about the problems than just straight up not buying it and saying nothing? I know I'd like to know what I could do to maximise my profits, if I were running a company. For example, see assassins creed. Tons and tons of bitching about various things about the game for various reasons, sequel sees these reasons specifically addressed, giving them a chance to win back the significant player base that was thoroughly disappointed. Of course ubi could be lying, but the example is not meant to be overly nuanced.

Okay guys, relax.

Now first off, I am a PC Gamer. I started really getting into games on an old Amiga A500 when I was 4(which tbh is classed as a PC), I then shortly after got into Windows games on my first proper desktop PC and i've been a PC gamer since. However, I do not consider myself biased in my views for the following reasons:

I did have a hand-me-down PS1 in the late 90's
My sister had a PS2 when it was new out
One of my friends owns pretty much every major console and i've often had a go on them all
Recently my fiancé and I got a Playstation 3.

This whole war between PC and Consoles from my perspective as someone whos a PC Gamer but dabbles into the world of consoles and now owns one is a futile war. Let's face it, having a PC doesn't make you a better gamer and neither does owning a Wii/360 and PS3. I've played on Live and PSN and met just as many n00bs as I have on WoW and CoD etc on PC.

There are many myths about consoles and PCs that are untrue. For example, a good gaming PC costs £1,000+. Thats really not true, my PC cost me £500 without monitor to build and runs the latest games fine. i'll probs now spend about £100 a year on upgrading it to keep up which proberbly adds up to the same price as a brand new console when the PS4 and new Xbox come out so it evens out.

The reason I don't like Xbox consoles is because of the hidden extra charges, i mean, you have to pay for Live membership? All PC games have free multiplayer with the exception of MMORPGs. That is partly the reason why I chose the PS3, it has more exclusives than 360 that I cannot get on PC either now or in the future and has Bluetooth and Wi-fi as standard and if I had a job i'd make more use of the blu-ray player.

Anyways i feel i've digressed a bit, let me put it this way. I prefer consoles when I want to jump into a game quickly and easily especailly multiplayer games. I like consoles where I can just press 2 buttons and be in a game on the sofa(true, i could use my home theatre pc but thats not a gaming pc and therefore isn't included in this debate).

However, I prefer to go on my PC for better graphics, customisability(such as mods etc), better controls for RTS/FPS and MMORPG's and tbh a more fun experience. No, that doesn't mean its better or i'm a better gamer. Its just what suits certain people.

I don't know why we are all arguing over who is the better gamers or which is the better platform when as long as its best for you and you enjoy it, what does it matter? they all have their faults and all have their n00bs and l77ts.

If anything we should gang up against the toy console that is the Wii, but that's my opinion. I hope my opinions aren't unbiased but i'll proberbly still get flamed for it.

It's because some of us are elitist bastards. I have the guts to admit that my PC is weaker than any of the big contender consoles, but I have to be able to do other stuff on my PC which sometimes takes a priority over gaming.

I've never had that problem with any of my consoles, I have all three of the current gen and a PC so yeah.

While obviously not all PC gamers are pricks, it seems they have a tendency to be pricks. Many PC gamers I know are laid back and helpful to the new guys, and some are assholes who think valve is abandoning PC gamers because they are making stuff for consoles as well.

PC's are geared towards people who want to have fun with random people and they can develop relationships with. I had one server I played on in TF2 and everyone on it was friends. Every time I went on it I was greeted and it was a blast.
This is exactly why I love dedicated servers, any multi-player game without them is not worth my time.

that is why.
PC gamers always seem to come off as self righteous pricks who consider any non-pc gamer below them and think that they are superior just because they play on pc.
they refuse to take any else's opinion and always want to seem smart for some reason.
You know (or should) that not every PC gamer is like that. Every group of people has their fair share of assholes and the PC gamers are no exception (goes for console gamers too).
