Why do people from the US constantly complain about game prices?

Last i checked prices vary due to country's taxes...The retailer in Australia has to get the games from the publisher...make a profit off them..pay the publisher there share...and then the consumer has to pay taxes on top of that....Steam is somewat the same way..even with it being online...country's taxes are still added into it and then given to your country which you bought it in...How that 1 USD equals to 1 euro perfectly is beyond me on there however.

I dont have a internet connection between my 360 and my modem. This means I am paying for less content (Bioshock being an example of a game that doesnt bother with that bs, and I want to hug Irrational Games for making it sp only). Why would I play $60 for say...Modern Warfare 2? Im already losing a good amount of the content, why charge me like that?
Why would you buy a game when you only intend to play half of the content?
I didnt say I really bought it.
I was one of the few people who didnt buy it. I rented it for 5 days ($10). Beat it on Veteran in 3.

I guess because of the economy. Either that, or the people complaining hate spending more than $10 for something.

Because most gamers were around when games costed under $40, and they can't find any significant improvement among most of them aside from the money blown on attempts to make a game photo-realistic, which just means it'll look bad soon.
i would gladly pay $20 less for a game with halo 2 level graphics i don't need shiny things i need good programming

Oh yeah, and there once was a time when games costed 50 bucks. For some reason, the Big three became dicks, and now its 60. Meanwhile, the PC sits calmly at 50, watching its deformed kids run around with 60.

Oh yay! Another, "Woe is me. I have it so much worse off than you. Feel sorry for me" thread. Gaming IS a seriously investment no matter where you live.

It's an exercise in patience that most fail. You want it now? Shell out the bucks and make yourself and the company happy. But if you can wait...you get to take advantage of kickass deals on reasonable quality used games. Plenty of people blow through games in < 1 week and resell below vendor price. Really there's no excuse with all the options able: Steam, Ebay, friends, Used Game stores and so on.

Edit: I will surrender the point the that they're a ***** to pay for with the current U.S. economy. Pay going down - Costs going up = Not much money. All the more reason to be a smart buyer.

cuz i remember the days when a new ps2 or xbox game costed 20-30$ developers and publishers talk about the increase in development costs but since more people are buying games now they should still only cost 30-40$

Games used to be very affordable, now it's the price of going to an amusement park for a day. Earlier generation games are still nicely priced. Seventh generation games are unfortunately $60+...and that sucks, especially in our current economy.

I have never once complained about the price of games. If anything I think we're stealing from the companies. This might have something to do with the fact that I know how tedious and mind numbingly boring it is to write game code.

I have a weird feeling this is directed at me... well, why I complain is because they jack up the price 20%. What if a game that was normally priced $80 for you was now $96. Would you complain? Why do other countries complain about the American government? They don't have to live with it so why do they bother? Oh yeah, they are human.

Because some of us are cheap, and try not to lump all Americans in the same group next time, it's kinda offensive...

Because our games used to cost less. I remember when $40 was an extravagant game on a console. Frankly, I think game publishers should invest less money in their games, to reduce costs. You may not have as beautiful graphics, but a stricter budget could force a studio to make more with less. As I've learned from last-minute projects, pressure can bring out new depths of creativity.
