Since we are coming out of the closet Blu-Ray could hold 1TB Be at googol P run at speeds faster than sound and be cheaper than Free and I would still not like it until I get my Star Wars, Holy Grail, and Jarhead. That for is the killer blow to my chances of buying Blu-Ray I doesn't have the movies I want. (HG is owned by Sony and Star Wars by Lucas Film (published by fox) who are on the BRDA yet there not on Blu-Ray WTF and HD-DVD does have at least Jarhead).
Well too bad we don't live in a perfect world with infinite resources and no need for money, people keep telling me it's impossible but damnit I can dare to dream - besides, there are some (farfetched) things that could make that possible in the (not so) near future.
Also, we gotta be a little nicer to blu-ray, it still plays DVDs so it's not like you
have to convert everything back to BDMV, nor does it render the DVD's useless, a DVD may be the better value but soon enough the difference won't be that big. Unless we go back to the "blank discs" which for some reason, those haven't gone down in price - but supply and demand control everything and I'm sure there is a lot of supply and hardly any demand for Blu-Ray writables. We won't need any for a while though...
Oh, and before I forget, Sony has a lot of hate towards them because they are a little unorganized with trying to make things more "consumer friendly" - they've spent billions of dollars on so many SKU's and putting rumble back into Dualshock and now they can't afford to do simple things like put HD cables
with the PS3 boxes, and not to mention that the latest firmware update which was supposed to make "everything so much more awesome" ended up...fucking everything up (except for some lucky bastards like me). I talk crap about the Wii and it's corner cutting (and of course, it's done more than the PS3) but Sony is also shit at cutting corners and we need to kick them in the rear to make them realize that we aren't just going to donate money to them.
Everything the PS3 lacks, the other systems have (mainly 360 but it's hard to say with all the updates PS3 is planning on getting assuming they don't fuck up) and vice versa but I think Sony is taking more heat because...well...sadly they need it, it's motivational support for them, now that so many problems have been fixed since launch that everyone who bought a PS3 near launch time just felt ripped off. That's the short answer anyway.
I respect the 360 and I love my Wii (not as much as everyone else though) and I don't enjoy the 360 but it's still a good system for it's price, especially around launch time.
