I guess the general public of adulthood just takes us in as a whole...they take a few impulsive teens and just nail that to every living soul between 12 and 17. Really, if you take a random handful of adults and a random handful of teens, you're still going to find the mature ones, the immature ones, the nice ones, the mean ones, and everything else in between.

1 word, stereotypes. Most aren't, but the loudest are. This goes for all stereotypes, be it racist ones, age onse, class ones, location ones, etc.
Some are fun to use for jokes (redneck jokes for example), others are just plain annoying.

Speaking as one, I think that the statement "most young teenagers you meet online are going to act like a**holes" is perfectly justified. As has been stated, the ones that aren't loud and obnoxious usually don't get noticed. However, I hate people who, upon finding out that you're a young teenager, immediately assume you are going to be loud and obnoxious withut giving you a chance.
It's always the minority that cause the reputation. There are lots of loud annoying teenagers, however there are more(I think) that are fairly normal. That said I hate almost every teenager I know and I'm about 16 so...
Because the ones that I see are dicks. Yes pure breed assholes that are homohobic,racist and quite ill mannered.

Because we can be annoying, high pitched (by comparison to most people of my age (13) I have a low voice) and can follow retarded trends.
probably because 90% of us are the xbox live teenagers, chavs or the mindless idiots who bring twilight and justin bieber into the spotlight. however i don't like when people just dismiss all 12-15 year olds as racist, homophobic pricks. i mean, i'm 14 and i worry about the next generation, isn't that kind of thing not supposed to happen until you turn 50?

Because back in the day when I was a (not so) high pitched teenager. All the others picked on me. Thus resulting in me hating all forms of teenagers. (be they high pitched or not).
