Alright. Im done. You all want to get so stuck up on one stupid word I did not even mean, fine. I apparently am just a stuck up pretentious "it" that hates all who disagree. After the, what, 4th person who cant get beyond the word "real" I find I can no longer deal with arguing with any of you. Its one thing to disagree with me, but another to force a point in my argument thats not even there.
You seem to think that because you played the first game then it should entitle your opinion to be of greater weight and you should be catered to in future releases. That is why people are accusing you of being pretentious.
Then I guess I am, because you, though offended me with your it comment, made my point more coherant. Yes, that is what Im saying, essentially. Ofcourse, if that does make me pretentious, then I ask now, why? Am I really wrong for thinking that? Woudlnt it make sense to trust more in the view of someone more experienced with something than someone less so? Certainly it must bug gamers when non gamers suggest banning violent games when they dont play them to begin with becaused they dont understand them as well if at all.

Sorry, I don't understand the hate. Throwing a fit because your favored genre has been opened up to a larger "action game" audience just seems petty.

*Looks at Silent Hill collection*
-Smiles-
*Looks at Dead Space 2*
-Horrible frown of realization-

Wait.. No! Don't let homogenized action gaming ruin your genre! I don't like RPGs, but RUN AWAY! NOW! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!! Bar the gates! Set lookouts for casual gamers at the fortress walls!

Take it from me! Take it from US! TAKE IT FROM THOSE WHO HAVE SUFFERED BEFORE YOU!!!
TAKE IT FROM THE SURVIVAL HORROR GAMERS!!! AAAAAHHHH!!!!!

most fanatics are whing that the combat is too fast!
what?
so they want to go back to:

monster: grr. i am an enemy.
you:lo i have been struck.
monster:i shal now patiently wait for you to plan your attack, fill out the forms for defending myself etc
you: i have filled out the succesive paperwork. i shall now strike you
minster: very well, as i have not completed my paperwork on time, you have a 5:1 chance to kill me.

*your atack misses*

repeat the prcess. for me, i like all the new characters and the new combat system, in fact i only find the combat and the much better dialouge tree different. i also remember the game getting 9/10 in most magazines & reviews!
the only hat i see is fanboys whining:

wahh the combat is too fast! as in:

monster: grr i am an-*hack chop slash cut stab mutilayte burn slash dismember dicapitate* OH JESUS GOD HOLY MARY MOTER OF GOD HAVE MERCY ON THIS MON-----*more hacking chopping slashing maming & decapitating*

you: sweet 10 Xp and loot!

Dragon Age 2 is better than Dragon Age 1, alot of people think so....there is an illusion of hate, just like all the people who so called "hate" call of duty Modern Warefare too, thus with little to no change, Black Ops comes out and is the best selling game of all time. Thats because TRUE gamers love games like Modern Warefare and the Call of Duty franchises because it diversifies our hobby to others and make it more accessible.

You can HATE or give an "illusion" of hate, but there is one fact in life that is true "men and women lie....numbers hold truth"....Dragon Age sells, I bought the game twice cuz I bought it for my friend who never ever played an RPG and he's on his third play through, now he went and bought dragon age 1....

You see, these developers are WAY smarter than you think...you make the first game a CULT hit, u steer in the masses with a popular brand and make it ACCESSIBLE...You throw in a great expansion pack between the 2nd and the third to make it seem like ur "listening to ur cult base while still making it accessible" to test the waters of how ur gonna make the third....

And then, u make the 3rd game with the fighting engine, design style, and main character focus of the 2nd game, and u add the sense of adventure and scale for the first game....BAM u got the cry baby ***** running back saying "THIS IS WHAT DRAGON AGE SUPPOSE TO BE LIKE" and u got the people who grew fond of the game more willing to play something more hardcore cuz they fans of the series....

All of this implies that they believe they did wrong and the consumer isn't just being obtuse. I know people in this business directly, and all too often I hear stories about how the money angle overshadows the consumer angle, and we end up with crap and are put down because we "don't get it".

I have to agree that it was streamlined, and that some things were changed for the worse. My main gripe is the inventory system. To draw in people who are too impatient to equip gear to every member of your party, they just make it so you can't, a la Mass Effect 2. I'd hate to see things like this continue as a trend.
Oh MY FREAKING God thissssss. I hated that in ME2 as well. Your boobs, Jack, shouldn't be able to repel missles. >.>

I'm pretty freaking sure Bioware that this armor I found would do a hell of a lot more in the damage reduction department than having to run around looking in chests for the "oh look a new single part of your costume and I hope it makes a difference 'cuz I sure as hell can't tell". Not like it makes a difference. All I need is to up health and Carver fights Rock monsters just as well even without a single upgrade.

And I dislike having to go to the person's homebase to give a person a gift. If he's in my freaking party, I should be able to hand over a freaking necklace without going through a loading screen. It's like they took away the simple stuff from Origins when scouting for the bad. Simple isn't bad.

'breathes through nose' >.>
if you play ME2 on a harder difficulty, you shal find jack has a strong barrier, and when it goes, she always dies.

Agreed with the title, not with the content.

I like how a few people on the internet get angry about this game, for no good or explainable reason other than a self-righteous holier-than-thou attitude. It really exposes the bad seeds in the gaming community these days, and I hope developers will now finally see what kind of audience are the actual lovers of gaming.

Bethesda: "Woah, did you see what happened to Bioware when they tried to release a crappy dumbed down rushed console sequel when the original was a deep classic PC RPG?? Let's make sure we don't do the same for Skyrim."
Obsidian Oblivion and DA:O = Deep classic PC RPGs?

Historical revisionism is alive and well, it seems.

EDIT: Wow, now that's a weird typo.
Oh hello there, you seem to love oblivion but not morrowind do you?
Well let me put it to you this way, Bethesda makes sequels divisive enough that people would argue which is better the prequel or the sequel, morrowind and oblivion in this case.
But zenimax are not assholes of publishers so far so I believe skyrim would be more of the same, i.e. better gameplay and almost everything better than its prequel(the reason I said almost is writing which in both oblivion and F3 is .... eugh)

but um u had to go back to the same BASE screen where ur party generically sat down at to initiate conversations in DRAGON AGE 1...the reasons u have to go to a home base is because they have a full cutscene at the persons house, to flesh out the experience...

I bet everybody who hate this game hasn't even PLAYED it, they just PLAYED THE DEMO.....if u haven't beaten the game, STFU....

Do you know what BEING A FAN IS? That is supporting something thru the good and the bad....Don't u know how many Star Wars fans hated Episodes 1 and 2 but still supported it? Still know the whole damn movie by heart? THATS WHAT A FAN IS...

Don't you know how many Golden State Warrior fans sell out the arena even though their team isn't gonna make the playoffs?

ITS CALLED SUPPORT! Me and a lot of my friends love Dragon Age 2 way more than 1, but for those who saying DA2 suck, but can't tell me any of the new lore, who can't discuss with me the changes that happened in the world's lore, who can't tell me how their ending of the game differed from mine, YOU ARE NOT A FAN!

Suck or don't suck, if u LOVE Dragon Age like u say u do, u play through this game, liking it or not.....I played Awakening even tho it had no gameplay changes or enhancements what so ever, but I played it for the STORY!
This post is pretty amazing. IF YOU DON'T BLINDLY LOVE EVERYTHING A SERIES PUTS OUT REGARDLESS OF QUALITY YOU ARE NOT A TRUE FAN AAAAAAHHHHHH
One, as a person who played thru the game and know the lore, the game makes a lot of incredible references to both Dragon Age 1 and Awakening Events

Oh and even the Morrigan Expansion pack events....oh and its a reason why Flemeth is still alive....

I mean its so much shyt that this game reveals that was unanswered in Origins (you ever wondered what happened with u and morrigans child if u so chosed to let Morrigan let the dragon's spirit go into it?)

Those reasons alone is reason to play the game all the way thru to see if questions were answered...but obviously I can tell that nobody here finished the game, at all....

Wait? What? True gamers? as in the thousands of gamers who have been playing games for 10-20+ years who cant stand Call of duty or shooters at all are false gamers? I will choose to think that was just worded poorly and not an insult to a very large portion of the gaming community.

Look, I get what your trying to drive at, and to some extent yes that is a semi logical development path. However I really dont think people are bitching about dragon age 2 because its more accessible or different than origins. People are bitching about 2 predominantly because its an unfinished game, and its substantially below the level of writing that gave bioware the notoriety that it has garnered in the last 10 years that from a narrative standpoint really does not give the player a lot of incentive to keep playing or care about the chars. If that is what you mean by making it accessible, then I wont bother playing another installment.

Games can't get better without criticism. Not all of it is going to be constructive, but if they swim through enough of it, they'll find consistent themes. Expressing a negative opinion doesn't automatically make you a hater.
