Still, even though it was 'just' a draw I'm grinning like an idiot here. The former champions have been thoroughly humiliated, which is particularly sweet for me because they kicked out Germany during the last world cup.
You lads just make sure you beat England for us if you play them :)
Difficult, but doable. We'll see... before any of that happens we need to defeat Ghana first.
After seeing them against Algeria, it shouldn't be too difficult!

That dive at the end of the Brazil v Ivory Coast game today was pathetic. I've been pulling for the Ivory Coast out of the non-USA teams, but now I need to find someone else after that travesty. Probably Netherlands or Switzerland.

It's on now.
I just learned that Rooney made a statement saying he'd really like for his team to play against Germany so he could kick them out of the tournament. Fucking arrogant asshat. If England really do meet Germany head-on I hope our boys obliterate them.

Yeah, been a bit rough, I didn't come here after the "goal that was called back" happened Friday.

Been some shocking calls all around, just like 2006. Least had great upsets to keep things interesting.

...French team is now officialy the joke of the World Cup...the vuvuzelas are ancient history ahahah

So this morning they decided not to train because of Anelka´s expulsion in regard of the discussion he had with Domenech... but ... that wasnt enough!! While Domenech was on an interview, a live one, Ribery stopped it and started to talk against Domenech and stating that he was on Anelka´s side!!!!

what a joke! France is the Joke of the World Cup and Domenech is the Joker (even between the players :p)

Kuddos for Brazil for a great match ^^

CARREGA PORTUGAL!!!!! (Brasil vs Portugal will be without Kaka good stuff)

frankly, who in their right mind gives a flying frak about soccer?
Pretty much every other country in the world except the US.

Your view that it requires no skill is either highly misinformed or simple trolling, not sure which yet.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/story/_/id/5306631/ce/us/us-slovenia-draws-most-espn-households-soccer?cc=5901&ver=us

Millions of Americans are watching, as many people watch US v. England as watched any of the NBA Final games. I don't get this whole "it's not popular" nonsense, what is the threshold people need to see it is no longer 1990. ESPN didn't spend millions for charity, they spent it because Americans watch the World Cup despite the fact it is on in the morning and afternoon when most are at work.

Looking forward to our match against Ghana. It shouldn't be hard if Ghana doesn't improve significantly since their match against Australia. I am quite full of hope.

Also, I agree that the refs are retarded this time around. Yellow cards left and right, for anything.

I'm happy now though, New Zealand have just drawn 1-1 with Italy. Now that was an example of a team that gives a fuck about representing their country.
Pity they got F'd in the A by the ref. No way was that a penalty.

Italian footballing tactic #1:

Yeah, definitely not a penalty. The NZ player just lightly tugged at the Italian guy's shirt and - of course - the Italian player went flying to the ground in the most dramatic way possible.

Unbelievable how many empty seats in the stadium today.

Have fans had enough of the hellhorn?
South Africa's out, most of them don't care anymore.
They're not out yet, they could beat France and go through.

It was disgusting seeing thier 'fans' walking out ten minutes before the end. Way to support your country, lads.
Indeed, should be there right till the end, especially when your hosting the cup.
I imagine they only went there to blow thier stupid vuvuzelas
I hate them so much, hopefully after the group stages there will be less and less of them.
Don't count on it; There are just as many foreigners blowing vuvuzelas as there are South Africans.

Erm, I watched the game today, and the Italian - De Rossi, I believe - did not go flying, he just started yelling and making gestures to the ref, who promptly responded. Still, I'm not sure if the whole incident was penalty-worthy... it's just one more weird call in a long line of hiiiiighly dubious calls made by the twitchy refs at this year's World Cup.

And yeah, I think we do have a good chance of beating Ghana on Wednesday as long as the ref doesn't give them any penalty kicks. I just hope our boys have gotten over that mood dampener of being defeated by Spai- sorry, Serbia.

What I want to know is... is there actually any good reason why they won't introduce video replays??

You never get this bullshit in Rugby.

Good reason?

Hmmm, only issue might be implementation in terms of when it'd be used and how much as to not drag matches out.

FIFA isn't one to change much, and success feeds that stubborn nature so doubt it'll happen anytime soon.

I do hope england gets it's act together for wednesday, but somehow I doubt it.

I hated when the commentator suggested it might be capellos fault and not the players. Oh no it's never the players... grrr.

In any case, anyone else think heskey is doing well so far, constantly running around picking up the slack for everyone else.

It's like I always say - high time for the future to get here so we can have robot referees.

Considering that you live in the US, for knowing and apparently liking that great song you, my good sir, have just won this week's Awesomesauce User Award.

I own quite a few German language albums (50 or so), and have three by Sportfruende Stiller. Feel free to suggest bands, I'm a big fan of the language and the music from there. I think on one of the Guitar Hero games I was only person I knew excited by inclusion of Die Toten Hosen. Least I have audio surf to enjoy Die Artze and Subway to Sally and Rammstein and Ooomph! and In Extermo and (I'm rambling...)

Oh, not a fan of Tokio Hotel, no offense.

After watching Kaka get that red card against Ivory Coast

Seeing Edu's goal get completely denied for no reason for the USA

and that HORRIBLY ROUGH SHIRT HOLDING ON TO ZOMG from NZ I can say without a doubt

FIFA is the most corrupt organization in the world of sport.

No human being with even a shred of self-respect should like Tokio Hotel.

It appears you've got some really great ones already covered (Subway to Sally are among my all-time faves). Out of the ones I like and who actually use German lyrics I'd also recommend Crematory, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Equilibrium, Haggard, Letzte Instanz, Schandmaul and Tanzwut.
