But that's Ed Wood, and the quintessential "So bad it's good"

You obviously haven't seen his film Orgy of the Dead.

But my vote goes to Manos, Hands of Fate

OR

Dracula 3000. And yes, I mean 3000

Just.. awful.

It actually shocks me that abortion won oscars.
Whaaaat! this movie is brilliant, one of my personal favourites maybe you just didn't get it but the plot is pretty simple just told beautifully. The movie is all about tone though and it's meant to be slow and dull which creates the tension and atmosphere of the whole movie. Well to each their own I guess.

The Nightmare before Christmas

I just didn't like it, I got it and well it's got no real faults to it. The movie had good songs and good voice acting along with a interesting use of stop motion animation... But I just could not get into it, there was some thing there that just didn't click for me. I mean in no way is this a bad movie, just personally I didn't enjoy it.

Blade Runner... Yep I'm sure a lot of you are going to hate me for this but I did not like Blade Runner. Again the movie is not bad in fact quite the opposite but I just couldn't get interested in it, and I've tried. I got the special fully uncut edition with all the digital remastered shit that happens with these movies but I just could not get into it.

Alien vs. Predator.

Alien was bloody amazing. Predator was kinda cool. AvP was just awful.
Yet the book they based the story on is just awesome.

Can i just ask what specifically made you hate it? No flaming just curious.

For me i got a few. Not gonna say Huge mainstream movies cause they are bad but these are worst.

Dracula 3000.
Vampires vs. Zombies
Starship Troopers 2
Ninja Cheerleaders.

And anything made by Uwe Boll lol.
I would have thought movies like that were so bad there hate proof. Come on a film names Ninja Cheerleaders isn't going to be good is it, you just watch it to laugh. I watched a film other day names Croc with Michael Madison and that was bad but I couldn't hate it because it was too bad to hate.

Anyway, on topic, I'd have to say Alone in the Dark. I almost shit out my own brain watching that one.

What baffles me even more is that ITV seemed to broadcast it twice a week for about a month earlier this year, and the announcer at the start always had the tone of someone telling you that you were about to watch something amazing and epic. I know it's their job, but I didn't detect even a hint of a lie in his voice!

The Avengers [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118661/], I don't remember what exactly was so bad about it because I haven't seen it in over ten years or so, but I do remember this: It was very very bad, and I don't plan on watching it again any time soon to find out why it was so very very bad.

They remaking that movie.

I know...

Hmmm..worst...worst...hmmm...cause you named the worst movie ever I'll go with the second worst:
Manos, the Hands of Fate. I wonder how long till they release a Blu-Ray version of it.
Oh man, I watched that film the other day, words cannot begin to describe how awful it is. Even with MST3K commentary, it is still hard to bear. I think that is my number one worst film lol

I prefer to think of the Starship Trooper movies as if they were being told with MASSIVE irony.

And I dunno, a lot of things really. It didn't draw me in, the charatcers were bland and uninteresting, except the psycho who livened things up now and then by blasting people's faces in because he didn't like their hair. The story was strung out and just told in a really unappealing way and it carries on for an extra hour or so after the main character's death.

I was told in an earlier post you have to appreciate every little detail in the movie for it to make sense and be enjoyable though and I was distracted at the time of watching it so maybe that's it.

V for Vendetta. Oh God I hated that movie so much...I'd elaborate but I don't wanna enrage myself at the moment.

While I agree with the Nick Cage hate, what's wrong with V for Vendetta? Sure, it's not got the depth of the graphic novel but it's a damn sight more accessible and is very slickly done.John Hurt and Hugo Weaving are both fantastic, even if one is little more than a voice.

I can understand not particularly liking it, it could (should?) have been so much more. But worst ever? No way.

Slight aside (Aimed not just at you, not just at this thread (*cough*Sovvolf*cough*) but at the internet in general): Why is EVERYTHING the worst ever? Or the best ever? Is it not possible to like something despite its faults? Can something not be poor-but-enjoyable (Say, Wolverine. Yes the effects were poor and the story was stupid but the fights were kinda nice and the final showdown was pretty neat) or excellent-but-flawed (Say, The Dark Knight)? The tendency towards extremes annoys the hell out of me.

That and the worst films ever are far FAR below the quality of most of those posted. Plan 9, Manos:The Hands of Fate, Silent Night Deadly Night 2 (GARBAGE DAY!) etc. are easily the worst ever. No contest. They're unwatchable.

Of course, the biggest DISASTER in movie history is probably Heaven's Gate. Costing 70 million at the time (equivalent to about double that in todays money) it grossed a measly 3 million dollars, ruined the career of Cincono (who was at a massive high following The Deer Hunter), led to the demise of United Artists, and fundamentally altered film-making for years to come. And this was a film that had Willem Defoe, Mickey Rourke, Terry O'Quinn, John Hurt and Christopher Fucking (he doesn't use his middle name much) Walken. Although that may be due less to the films quality and more due to the directors insane excesses.

If we limit ourselves to big-release films (so that there's at least a bare minimum of competence) I would say the worst movie in recent years is Revenge of the Fallen, having the worst quality:budget ratio I have ever seen. The fight scenes were badly shot, the characters were irritating and offensive, the plot was inchorent. They spent 200 dollars on a film about giant robots and the first third consisted of someones mom getting high off hash-brownies and telling complete strangers how her son has just lost his virginity.

Michael Bay, stop making films. You are killing cinema more than piracy.

Segals Attack Force is ****ing terrible, even for a latter day Segal film.

They changed the story (which was already a contender for worst plotline ever) for a new one after filming had finished which meant dubbing over the original lines. They realised the dubbing was god-awful, which meant they shoehorned a lot of the original acting into the new script, which resulted in a film half dubbed and half undubbed. The stroke of genius was that they used different voice actors to the originals for *all* the parts.

That. A million times that.

And any of The Howling sequels.
Ah someone has seen it lol. My fave moment in the movie is the Guy telling people to and i Quote "Shut the fuck up"

I also Nominate the Movie Paranormal Activity. My god was that bad lol.

EDIT!!!!!: 1000 Posts, 0 probations. I'm awesome.
It was so bad I can't single out any one portion and call it the 'worst' part of the movie.
I'm pretty sure my brain is blocking out most the movie, as it views the experience as some sort of abuse.

I just know that I spent the next 6 hours contemplating what I thought I had just watched, and did various tests trying to prove that I hadn't died or slipped into a coma.

EDIT: And congrats!

Doomsday. I love apocalyptic stuff, but man was that a bad movie. Couldn't finish it.

Epic Movie was terrible beyond imagination.

These movies were bad, not just a case of me not liking their vision. They were bad.

haha okay, agreed, it's not the worst ever. I exaggerate. I suppose most of my ire comes from the fact that I merely dislike it, but most people I know will go crazy if I say anything bad about it, which is annoying. And for some reason, although I don't like it, I end up seeing this movie SO MANY TIMES!! I don't even know how! It just happens! I can't get away from it!
So yeah, that's probably what caused my slight exaggeration before. Thank you for calling me back to reality.
Worst movie ever revised to Howard the Duck.

Worst film ever?

Easily it's manos: the hands of fate.

Just search it. Took me eight times to even watch it all the way through. It is that awful. And I sat through some crap in my time!

This one. If I ever see a movie worse then this, I will seriously kill myself. If I hadn't seen it as an MST3K episode, I would've been seriously tempted to throw myself off a bridge, or throw it off a bridge, one of the two.

Manos in spanish means hands, So Manos: The Hands of Fate is actually Hands: The Hands of Fate.

Wow.

The worst movie I have ever seen is The Spirit. It's mind-blowingly terrible.
