Would you still eat meat if you had to kill it yourself?

animals are fucking gross. could i push a button and have a machine kill it for me, then have it sent to the butcher, to be put into nice, easy to work with meal-sized slices, and see the words "you just killed a chicken"? yes, i think i could feel bad about myself for a few minutes. but if i acutally had to walk up with an axe, chop its head off, pluck it, drain it, skin it, excuse me i need to go throw up now.
But you would still eat one? :) I find this very strange, also I would assume from this you were either not entirely serious or you don't consider yourself an animal? >_>

An interesting question, to which I ask a question in return...

If I had to kill all the meat I eat, do I have to eat all the meat I kill? Don't wanna be a cannibal or nothin...
That depends on how hungry you are surely. If you were hunting for your tribe and you bring back a whole buffalo then you will probably not waste it.

If you hunted for yourself, and shot a buffalo, then is that even necessary? [/b]
I think your misunderstood. If I go on a murdering spree, do I need to eat them? Which was a joke... Or was it?
Oops, must have gone blind. Still, as long as you share the wealth, all wastage is acceptable. Can I get dibs on the eyeballs? There my favourite!

I already do. Ever heard of fishing?

I could do it to fish, I really couldn't do it to anything else. Especially little cuddly rabbits and stuff.
Bless all the little poor fish of this world...

Would it make a difference if fish were soft and cuddly?
I feel compelled to show you this [http://www.peta.org/sea_kittens/]

Also, hell yes.
That was possibly the most random thing I will see today...

Then again, i'm on this forum, there's always time for more randomness.

I'm a vegetarian, and even if I was in the wilderness, starving to death, I still wouldn't kill an animal. It seems illogical to me that one animal should die so that another can live. And I've eaten plenty of animals already (was omnivorous up until about 12) so there's no way I could justify it to myself.

Edit: And to address anyone who tries to argue about animals in the wild, carnivores can only eat meat to stay alive, so that's OK. But we as humans can survive without eating meat. I know in large parts of the world, they have to eat meat because they cannot survive on plants alone (i.e. African nations), so that's OK to.

yes I would, because i could make sure that it happens in a more respectful way: Not in a dirty factory or a crappy shed. Just outside so it can see the daylight and stuff.

Definatly, as a matter of fact I think it will give you much more appreciation for your food, and more respect for nature. Think North-American indian style, they hunted, but I've never seen so much respect and understanding for the earth. We could've learned a thing or 2 from them, but instead we almost eradicated them. I'm still afraid that that proverb of them will come true: "Only when the last tree has been cut down; Only when the last river has been poisoned; Only when the last fish has been caught; Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten."

Sorry my friend, nature knows no logic, nature just is. It's the way this planet works, ecosystems work. Preditation is a large and important part of life on earth, one of the driving forces of natural selection, one of the reasons humans walk around. Life feeds on life, that's the way it is on planet Earth.

It's all part of the fun of it. Nothing validates me as a man like blowing the face off a creature smaller than myself from a range of 100 yards.

When I'm done hunting and playing golf during the day, I'll take my 500 kilo stag home and leave it partially skinned (I got bored)and dripping on the kitchen counter for my wife to finish off and cook after she gets in from a busy day of a bread-winning as a corporate lawyer. I'll just nod to it as I sip my beer and watch the second episode of Gossip Girl.
This made my day.

But yeah, I'd love to learn how to kill and prepare an animal. Realistically I'm pretty lazy so I don't think I'd regularly hunt instead of buying meat.

It'd be pretty badass though.

I wouldn't, I hate hunting personally. Although I would probably fish every now and then I don't know, I don't eat alot of meat to begin with.

Good Job. Humans are designed to practically need to eat meat for all of those delicious proteins and other vitamins and minerals that make us the dominate species of the world. (That said, no species 'decides' to be a veggy even when evidence says that its a retarded state of being).

But really, as a meat eater, would I still eat meat if I had to kill it myself? Well its a retarded question, would I also need to grow it? Feed it? Live with it? But ignoring those issues, I would say yes, yes I would kill some delicious Lamb to feed myself some delicious lamb.

Although I would probably eat less meat because of the effort involved, but I would still do it. Because lamb is delicious. Delicious.

Despite the fact that the vegetables you live off, flourish largely from nitrogen of dead animal matter. Hmm, most of the vegetables you eat are (probably sorry if you grow your own), prepared by people who eat meat. Besides whats logic got to do with survival.

I'm not trying to cause an argument but i disagree with you and would like to hear your views.
In regards to plants using nitrogen from dead animal matter-that's a natural process, it would happen if human's didn't exist. And if animals didn't exist.

To people who grow the things I eat, there's not much I can do about that, and my consumption of the produce has no bearing on whether the farmers eat meat or not.

And the logic part-I'm a very logical person. If something doesn't make sense to me, I won't do it. And killing many animals so that I can survive is illogical to me, so I wouldn't do it. I know it makes sense in the context of humans being omnivorous and it would mean me not dying, but I still wouldn't do it.
