Xbox 360 or PS3

I bought a PS3 recently, after owning an Xbox 360 for around a year, because I just felt like it. I don't see much difference between the two in many terms. I have had just as much fun playing games I bought recently for the PS3 as I have on 360 games for the last year. The exclusive games are just annoying because I wanted to play on Little Big Planet as well as Halo 3.

Picking which one is the best is a really difficult thing because they have so much good and bad about them. The Xbox 360 costs less and doesn't have to install games and achievements to play, but the PS3 makes less noise and is more reliable over all.

I couldn't choose which one is better, but I will say the Wii is awful and just doesn't compare to either of the other two consoles.

...life gets harder than this. I have both and I would say that the 360 is probably nicer to use. Having said that, I despise that I have had to send the feckin' thing off for repairs 3 times. The ps3 also seems to have better games coming, and blu-ray is cool if you're a film geek. I don't think it makes much sense to buy a 360 right now.

You are going to want to see what games (specifically exclusives) you want and if the hard ware benefits are what you want. I own an Xbox 360 and I love it. It also depends on whether you have friends with Xbox 360s that you would want to play with or not.

Uhhh, I would get a 360, don't get me wrong, I have a PS3, but the problem is the fact that the PS3 games come out few and far between, the good ones are even more so. The 360 comes out with tons of games, most of witch playable and may just dammed fun. But you also need to take into account certain game series. For instance if you are heartset on God of War III buy a PS3

No.No.No.No.No.

These threads are often biased and cannot tell you what you should get.

It depends on which exclusives you like better.

Then ask, which one most of your friends have for online.

If you're like me, online doesn't make much difference so it really just comes down to what exclusives you like better.

I'd go with PS3.

I hate to be a search bar Nazi, but seriously, this thread has been done so much, I'm sure you could have just looked up an old thread, it would have many posts debating both sides with points in favour and against each console that you could apply to your decision.

On topic: If you're planning on playing online a lot, both online services are brilliant in my opinion, Xbox Live is better in some aspects admittedly which I suppose is why there's a subscription fee, though I don't agree there should be a charge but that's off topic. Anyway, the point I want to make is if you have a lot of gamer friends, and most of them have 1 particular console, I'd base my decision on what they have.

This sounds like a stupid way to base a decision but think about it, if you're playing a game online regularly it's more fun when you have friends to play it with regularly besides strangers online. It also helps with small matters such as when friends visit if you want to split screen they have their own controllers, or you could even LAN if they bring their console.

In regards to the games libraries, both have great games libraries, and in terms of exclusives, there's a substitute in each genre on each console.

In regards to the controllers, they both feel fine to use, I mean both have their problems, like the PS3's L2/R2 triggers, or 360's d-pad, but nothing too major, and you get used the controller after a while.

Finally, in regards to non gaming features, both work as decent media servers (by the way, I recommend using tversity to stream from your computer if you plan to do so instead of windows media player, thank me later =P), PS3 does have a slight advantage with blu-ray, however both upscale your DVDs for HDTVs (though in 360's case only via HDMI) which is fairly sufficient IMO.

To be honest the differences between these consoles are rather minor.

P.S. Sorry for the wall of text. x_x

Ask yourself which you prefer, based off of the games, controllers, and features.
Hell, make an old fashioned pro/con chart for each one if you need to.
Listen to this man. He is wise.

I origonally bought the xbox 360, because I remember enjoying my xbox more than the PS2 and so I assumed the same would happen here, unfortunatly after I bought it did I realise my horrible mistake. Here's the reasons:

1. Promised backwards compatability, but you must buy a hard drive for it and not all the games are known to work.

2. If you want the internet you must buy the internet connection for it.

3. Same as the first Xbox you have to buy attachment for DVD play.

and so I got really annoyed by this, but not until I bought my PS3 did I really get pissed off.

The PS3 had many features that I loved and are the reason why I am using it right now. Here's to list off a few things:

1. You can attach a memory pen into the PS3 and watch movies or play music that you got onto your system (currently have the series of "Life On Mars" on there now) as well as pictures that you can even set for your background (like I have of my gf).

2. No matter what system you buy, you can buy a new hard drive to replace it as long as it is a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive. With prices of PC hard drives it's a bargin compared to the 360's. Put it this way: £80 gets you an offical 360 120gb hdd but £40 get's you a 320gb sata hdd compatible with all PS3's.

3. Since it comes with free internet and internet cable then you can go online to the store or play your games for free. You can download demos or trailors for whatever game you might be interested in. This is at the point where the PS3 is looking more like a PC than the company that makes software for PCs.

4. Data can be transfered from the PS3 to a portable storage medium like my USB stick or it can be done reversed as mentioned. It can also hook up to a printer as well.

The only other thing I can mention is something I am unsure of. All I know is that xbox live has a bad reputation for having smart-mouthed, racist, homophobic jerks online, but that's only from word of mouth I have not played on xbox live and I don't intend to. Again I stress that it is only what I heard, I have no evidence to the contrary but I'd assume not everyone is that bad.

Ummm.... I personally prefer the Xbox but that is because all my friends have it... The Ps3 actually has some really good exclusive games. Then again PS3 takes a really long time to do everything.

I love how half the comments are bracing for an impending flame war, and there is yet to be a single flame post. At worst, there may be a post that's mildly opinionated.

But yeah...look at the exclusives, compare, and choose the one with more exclusives you want to play. That's the most important thing.

Well I've been a 360 owner for about a year and a half and still haven't had any issues with the console, looking to get a PS3 in a couple of weeks purely as its getting to the point now where there are enough exclusives to support the idea of owning two consoles (in my twisted little world) so I'm kind of signing out from the whole "ones better than the other" thing in order to justify my rash and stupendous consumerism. My brother has a ps3 and whenever I go home I enjoy playing it just as much as the Xbox. In terms of the online community's, I've played much more Live than PSN but from my experience neither side seem any worse than the other. Both have their idiots, both have their normal players.

Of the two I suppose the xbox is going at a lower price so you would be able to either save some money or get some more games so that may just tip it over the edge. Who knows.

I can only hope that me saying the same thing as everyone else, with a slightly different conclusion to some people, yet the same conclusion as others, has somehow been a help to you.

Depends what you last system was, for example if you like god of war or mgs then the choice is pretty clear. If I had seen this a couple weeks ago I'd would have recommended the 360 in a heart beat. However I've just been getting more and more pissed off at microsoft and all the shit they've been pulling. Anyway to get myself back on topic I'd say.... 360 and if you act quick you could still get an elite for $300.

I am going to get one and i cant decide which one.
Please recomend which one but GIVE A REASON, this is not a argument.

If you have a PC controller (not Xbox) and a friend comes round, you should be able to use the PC controller on the PS3 (as ar as I know, I've only tried it with a Logitech USB controller).
PC controller?

But as for the OP, I say get what ever system your friends are playing most. Both of the system's exclusives are pretty awesome, but hell, what do I know. PC master-race ftw.
