I live near a prison, I'd go there. It has guns, great security, and enough food for 2000 people for a couple of weeks. That should be enough food for my family for a long time. It also has back up generators for when the power shuts off. The hardest part might be getting in when I get there!

First, I'd probably just try to barricade my apartment, which is on the second level and has easily destroyed stairways. After we had stockpiled supplies, and gotten the group(Me, my dad, and our neighbors) all straightened out, I'd look at heading towards Lake Michigan. There's plenty of piers which would be pretty easy to block of and defend, man-made islands to live on, a lighthouse(Which I'd imagine to be a relatively easy to defend structure), and the lake itself could provide a source of food and fresh water(If the immediate area isn't polluted by any rotting zombies that might be in the water). There might even be some abandoned boats, so we could try sailing North, along the coast.
uhh.. my friend dans house. They have rifles and what not. I'm un-armed, so i consider myself screwed until I find some sort of firearm. After dan's house, I'd try to convince him and his family to come with me to my high-school, where we would fortify the shit out of it until my friend Ansel and his friends come along. After they show up, we'd probably go north.

I would grab all my guns and ammo, get in my car, go to the hunting supplies store nearby and stock up on what I can. I'd also pick up any of my friends/family that were still fine, then head to the local airport, hop in a plane and fly to wherever I can find that has a very low or no population, probably up north around Wyoming, Montana, or further north.

Awesome webgames aside, I would try and make it out to the mountains, as I'm assuming all slow zombies have some screwed up legs which would make it extremley difficult, if not impossible, to walk up the side of a steep hill.
