Hawaii (assuming the virus is not water- or air-bourne.). It's in the middle of the Pacific (zombies can't swim) and it has a pre-existing infrastructure and population.
According to the 2005 Romero flick "Land of the Dead", Zombies can cross water.
Really? How? They don't have enough motor co-ordination to swim and they are dead, so they sink.
They walk across the bottom, because (for some reason) they don't need to breath.
Not on the floor of the Pacific Ocean. There's over 900 kilometers of water above you at the bottom. That has got to at least slow a rotting, broken corpse.

An enormous dreadnought ship in the ocean, I cant see zombies swimming very well and even if they reach the ship there's a good 20 meter sheer metal hull to traverses

Then they'd get et by sharks, and then you would have zombie sharks.

I cant believe this hasn't been mentioned, but what about a military navy vessel? What immediately comes to mind is, well An aircraft carrier, supplies for years for X>5000 people, power for seven years, X>5000 military personnel, a mobile seaworthy base, various air capable vehicles, and weapons. (both big and small)

Assuming the infection didn't start on the seven aircraft carriers the us uses, it would be nearly impossible for it to be spread to one of them, assuming it wasn't airborne.

The only presenting problem is being on the carrier.

I was starting to lean towards empty supertanker. Plus, aircraft carriers are incredible complicated to run, so they might not be a good idea.

Actually, I think that at such depth, they would simply get crushed by the water pressure.
Same goes for the sharks going that deep.

I think I have to go with a large fishing ship.
Supplies are a non-issue (water cleaner, catching fish anyone?), same goes for zombies.
Plus, if I find enough people and raid docks, I can create my own pirate fleet!

I imagine not, they only crossed a river in Land of the dead.

Fun time with maths!:

Depth 4280 m (average)
Density of Water 1000 kgm^-3
Lets go for a 1 square meter base for now.
4280 x 1000 = 4,280,000 kg water

Now lets say the average human has a top down cross-sectional area of about 0.3 square meters.

That's still 1,284,000 kg acting down on you or 12,596,040 Netwons of force. It takes 73 Newtons to crush the human skull. They couldn't survive the walk there.

Don't forget that each air craft carrier has it's own small fleet, this small fleet provides the food for it, if you could find the supply ships you'd be laughing, especially if you didn't have 5000 people on board.

Personally I'd head into Halifax. A Fort 80 meters above sea level, easy access to the harbour and a good chance that most people would leave the city leaving it to my necessary looting

Edit: oh yeah and if you go on the old voodoo legends salt cures zombieism and we literally coat our streets with it

I'll be off to Indianapolis, grab an aircraft capable of flying to Europe, along with a pilot. Then I'm off to find a castle in decent condition. Once I do, I'm going to border up the entrances and live in a castle surrounded by bodies.

Yup. Sounds fun.
take me with you!
my first stop would be "Buck fever" the hunting shop up the road, then to see if I cant highjack a ferry, spend as minimal time in the city as possible then I meet up with portal and either rob him or set to work fortify a castle with him or one adjacent to it, there's probably worse to spend the apocalypse with, might as well be a total stranger

I'm going to take a virology course in college, so I'll have a more solid plan after I understand just how a zombie virus would work.

Honestly, it depends on the type of zombie/zombie virus. If we're talking Romero's slow walking zombies, I'd probably stay in my home town and just barricade myself in the local Walmart. I'd probably even be able to walk about town.

28 Days Later/Dawn of the Dead 2.0 zombie? I'd travel about an hour out of town and just start walking in the forest. We have a large amount of small towns in Oregon. They're in the woods and most are off the beaten path. It wouldn't be hard to get lost out here. Heck, we barely see people now.

It also depends on if the zombies can hunt you down (like the Dawn of the Dead zombies). I live about twenty minutes from a working bay. Push comes to shove, I can just commandeer a boat and sail off towards less populated regions (Alaska, for one).

Left 4 Dead zombies? Alaska/Canada. The Canadians are immune to the zombie outbreak. This is fact.
Another Oregonian?! I thought I was the only one! Props, man!
we emerge from the wooded shadows my bretheren

mongolia, russia, canada, somewhere really cold, isolated, BUT with a decent amount of native flora/fauna

The mile high fortress they just built next door. Oh, you didn't hear about it? It was all over the news.

An oil rig off the shore of some Arctic-y place. It will be cold, which freeze most zombies, and they aren't so good at climbing so I'll be pretty safe.
Soooo.To Norway it is.
You do realize that Norway is being heated by the water from the Mexico gulf so we have mild winters and "hot" (if you can call it that) summers

OT: I would take over the King´s castle (still in Norway)

or

I would stock up on food and just stay at home. I live in a pretty big apartment complex and I live on the 4th floor, and the zombies would have problems opening the electronic main door.

Yes, I'm sure you would be the only person to have thought of that. on a less sarcastic note, watch out for the actual gun-shop owner, he will be crazy. if you don't get your ass eaten on the way there, that is.
+ you should also consider bringing food with you, you have the means to protect yourself from all except for hunger (and probably boredom, but, then again, it was ok for the guy in dawn of the dead movie)

Jack a bus, drive to Edinburgh and hide in the science museum "Our Dynamic Earth". The museum is underground, easily locked down and has several labs for private research including one on hydroponics; Food problem solved. Sure we might have to do meat runs so nobody ended up going vegetarian and became weak and hippy-minded. Because then they try to reason with the zombies and then MY ass is getting chewed on, and not in that nice way I like.

The smart part of me should say "Go to the nearest airbase (Wich is about 30 by bike), NOW!!!"
The stupid part of me should something like this "Remember that island you always go to, go there."
