I'd go from military base to military base, trying to find which bastards were trained well enough to survive with the billion-dollar equipment they've been supplied with.

There is only one correct answer, and that is ON A BOAT. Alone. As others might be hiding bites...

Space. Ever heard of a zombie in space? EXACTLY.

Granted, once I leave in my spaceship made of gold with three swimming pools and a walk-in BBQ (for cooking whole live cows with little fuss) there won't be any way to return to Earth for supplies. Luckily I'd have my moon colony already set up with hydroponics for food or whatever. See?

I'm prepared.

The local hunting supply shop (which is about 25 km away). Guns, ammo, knives and bows. What more do you need?
You might want something to protect yourself from the other people that had the same idea?

I'm gonna say Twinkie Factory.
What do you think guns are for?

Antarctica (if possible). But id we're talking about places i could actually get to... It would be either my new neighbours House (Two storey with large balconys) Or I could go to my grandfather house which is literally built like a castle. On my grandfathers house i can also concrete up some of the lower entrances to make it difficult for the zombies to get in.

Honestly? I would pick a mall. If the zombies were of the stupid variety. Enough stuff there to use a weapons/barricades that I could probably out live them till they died of starvation. Plus I could run around killing them for fun.

If they were of the smarter and/or faster variety I would pick some place remote. Most likely a well stocked private yacht.

Terlingua, Texas. Live in the desert and there are next to no people there to begin with and the closest city is over 1.5 hours away by car if you speed your ass off.

I'll be rather safe there.

I made a list a while back:

Off-shore oil rig
Pro: In the middle of the sea and high up, zombies cannot swim.
Con: Food and water supplies can easily be cut off.

Antarctic base
Pro: Cold slows down or kills zombies. Ice shelf is natural defence.
Con: More supplies than normal are needed to maintain against extreme cold.

Church
Pro: Strong walls and holy things for turning demonic zombies.
Con: Not much use against regular zombies.

Moving truck convoy
Pro: Zombies cannot surround a moving convoy.
Con: Needs lots of fuel.

Fallout bunker
Pro: Underground and possibly hidden in natural feature. Huge blast doors for protection.
Con: Many are poorly maintained and need repair. Zombies may break in.

Supermarket (Tescos, Woolworth?s, Wal-mart)
Pro: Lots of food and possibly firearms. Shelves are easily defended.
Con: Ceiling is riddled with air ducts and prone to attack from above. Lighting and water relies on local grid.

Your house
Pro: Easily navigated and well-known.
Con: The average house is not meant for surviving zombie invasions. Needs fortification.

Abandoned mine
Pro: Underground, narrow tunnels easily defended as chokepoints.
Con: Possible to be boxed in, dust and cave-in hazard present at all times.

Urban Sewer System
Pro: Small tunnels and narrow pipes reduce possibility of zombie rush.
Con: Raw sewage and human waste produces biohazard, keeping food fresh and free of disease become difficult.

Desert Hideaway
Pro: Zombies quickly dry out and starve in the harsh environment. Flat landscape provides early view of zombie rush.
Con: Extreme hot and cold temperatures make insulation a priority.

Ocean Cruise Liner
Pro: Stocks food and amenities. Many people can live comfortably onboard. Zombies cannot surround a moving sea
vessel, and cannot swim to it.
Con: Supplies will run out at some point. A large and thorough check of the whole ship for any infected is necessary to inhabit it.

Hawaii
Pro: Established population and amenities. Crushing pressure of ocean prevents infected from crossing. Thermal energy from volcano in abundance.
Con: Volcanic threat can cover whole island. Small land area and overpopulation of survivors can cause housing issues.

I like Hawaii (assuming the virus is not water- or air-bourne.). It's in the middle of the Pacific (zombies can't swim) and it has a pre-existing infrastructure and population.

The mall, duh.

[small]...cause it's worked out soo great in the past...[/small]
studies have proven the mall works best.(yes we've wasted money on this) id pick the mall then when we ran out of food head off to another mall and just keep mall hopping.

I'd stay on the road the whole time, like resident evil and that biker gang in the original Dawn of the Dead.
I love the resident evil movies, I think you would have to be out west in order to use that strategy though
I live in Australia, not america so based on the size of our country to the population, it'd be quite easy to evade zombies outside the main cities

According to the 2005 Romero flick "Land of the Dead", Zombies can cross water.
Really? How? They don't have enough motor co-ordination to swim and they are dead, so they sink.

There is a castle close to me, I could make it, there.

Then I'd try to improve it best I could, as it's close to the center of town (Google maps Cardiff Castle UK) many supplies (a lot of meal replacement supplements from a health shop, as it's dry and uses water, would be close at hand as would be weapons.

They walk across the bottom, because (for some reason) they don't need to breath.

The Xsport and Costco right next to each other. With an airfield within 200 meters.
If we build a bridge between the two roofs wed be set for a while.

Long enough for me to build a 40 mm M203 supersniper rifle (6ft barrel grenade launcher YEAH)
