The COD singleplayer campaigns get more meaningless and more meaningless with meaningless "complexity". The COD multiplayer, however, is getting better and better.

I'd say Bioshock, because Bioshock 2 had no horror (though I suppose a big daddy isn't the best subject for a scare) and the plot was considerably less complex. As for Infinity, it appears to need actual gameplay footage.

I miss the days when games weren't so scripted. Where mechanics in freedom were the plot progressers, not quick-time events and restrictively linear sections. It's like we reverted back to linear straight after realising how good non-linear can be.

Rayman and Spyro. These games were so important to my childhood, and look at what they've become. :(

And with Playstation Move Heroes, i fear they will ruin Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter and Sly too. That will be a truly sad day.

I thought that comparatively, God of War 3 was kind of total shit next two the other two. Like, all reason for anything Kratos did went out the window. You essentially accomplished nothing besides a tabula rasa-like apocalypse. And on top of all that [spoiler/] Kratos dies for what felt like no reason. [/spoiler]

I was pissed.

Halo series went to shit after 2. Final Fantasy was good for anything that has the franchise tag of 7(excluding dirge), but the rest has been ass since then. Dynasty Warriors: up to 3 was good, then it just got bad when they tried to change the mechanics and screwed it up.

Well Call of duty and Guitar Hero. The last awesome COD game for me is the fourth one. And well back when Harmonix were making GH games they were still fun, like GH2 which is till one of the best games ever imo. And as everyone knows, both of these franchises were Activision's..

Final Fantasy. 1-6 were god tier. 7, and 8 were blah so so, 9 was awesome, but ever since then its just been one huge let down after another... in fact, I refuse to even buy 13 especially after seeing the reviews on it

I know it isn't a game franchise, but the first thing that came to my mind was Linkin Park. The last two albums to me were almost complete shit, while I still love listening to the first two.

As for a game franchise, I'm having a bit of difficulty thinking of one at the moment. Got nothing coming to mind unfortunatly, but haven't had much sleep so my thought process is a bit... Slow to say the least.
Yor probably going the flame me for this but i love their two last albums but I do love their old stuff aswell

Crash Bandicoot I suppose.

Honestly, it's hard for me to think in such a binary frame of mind, take Final Fantasy for instance, everyone and there dog has there own opinion as to when the series went "down hill" but for me, but by my reckoning even the ones everyone hates on are at least decent as games. Of course that's just me.

I try not to write off a series just because it goes into a direction that strays from the previous entires. I try to keep an open mind and judge the game on it's own merits as well as within it's respective series. It also really helps if you try to ask questions about the games design as you play like "What were they going for here? Why did they make this design decision?"

On the most part I think when a lot of people come to their opinions about games it's mostly based on impulse and betrayed expectation.

F.E.A.R. ,best single player game ever, then who knows what insanity happened with the rights to it, and then the embarrassing mess of "project origins" comes out, ruined by trying to be more like call of dootie, when the whole reason the first game was so awesome was that it would have been the next step up from Half Life 2, if the first game hadn't had its budget cut forcing it to have basically only one character and no vehicle or puzzle sections. Thats the only game I feel was "ruined", or at least that I care about.

CoD 2 and 4 were the best.
Blacks Ops i think came very very close. There's some MW2 in there that ruins it a little bit. But Black Ops came the close to CoD 2 and 4.

and yes, Crash has been ruined. It makes me so sad. I played the Wrath of Cortex through too many times to count
Ratchet and Clank i think need to stop before they get worse. Let them finish on top.
Theres not alot you can do with the GH series. But i did play GH2 for the first time in a long time, and i had a better time with it then World Tour and GH III. But I think that was because it is a classic, and classics are always fun.

I just hope bioware doesn't screw up Mass Effect. But they knew what they were doing and it will be an incredible game.

I hope there will be no Red Dead 2. like they did with GTA

He's been mentioned before but, Sonic. The blue guy just aint what he used to be.
Colors was a step in the right direction, being the first actually really good Sonic game on a major console since Adventure 2 (IMHO), time has still not been kind to the guy.

And Crash and Spyro, they crashed and burned after Naughty Dog and Insomniac stopped working on them.

I can't really think of a video game series but definitely House (it should have stopped at season 3) and The Simpsons (it should have stopped after the movie).

The only franchise that I can think of that no one's mentioned yet (probably because most of you have never even played the games lol) are Armored Core.

I never played 1, but it looks pretty cool. I enjoyed 2 a lot, and 3 was amazing. In fact, 3 was so good that they took it and essentially re-hashed it like 4 times making what amounted to $60 expansion packs each time. But good God they were awesome!

Then I bought Armored Core 4 For Answer and... wow... they literally changed everything about the game. The controls suck, the customization is horrendously over-complicted, lots of parts about the game are just broken altogether, they switched out cool-looking robots for ugly, impractical-looking robots, and it looks like they forgot to colour the game (seriously, I'd swear 90% of the game was black and white).

And now they've announced Armored Core 5. I haven't seen any gameplay yet, but from the trailer and screenshots so far it at least looks like they opted for the B&W levels and spiky, ugly, impractical robots from AC4. And I'm really doubting they're going to streamline the customization or revert the controls back to that of AC3.

Bomberman. It hasn't turned to trash, but it's just... gone. It's faded into obscurity. Which is a shame. Two games in the series hold very nostalgic places in my heart. I think Act Zero was too big a blow, and unlike Sonic, there weren't enough insane(and masochistic) fans to keep giving him a chance to come back to the limelight, so he's just stuck on the sidelines, making ok downloadable games...

Also agreeing with Sonic. I'm willing to be lenient enough to say that even Heroes was ok. But that's where my mercy ends. I've made my disdain for Shadow very clear, and while Colors is a step in the right way, let's face it, Sonic's never going to be back on top.

These two grat plat formers were also ruined after 2 or 3 good games
This (Crash Bandicoot) and Tony Hawk once the PS3 was around. The last great game I played was American Wasteland. Proving Ground was a dull, unimpressive game, and when I saw Ride, I was disappointed in the TH series going downhill. Activision milked it with a sequel and after that, like Guitar Hero and DJ Hero, they're dead.

And as for Crash Bandicoot, thank goodness for PSN, I could buy all the CB games that were developed by Naughty Dog.
