More likely Duke Nukem Forever, as we waited 14 years for it.
Really, those whole 14 years you were sitting there waiting for the next Duke Nukem game to come out? No. Because, considering that you are 14 (based on your profile), that is impossible. I doubt there were that many people waiting that whole time for it to come out. Most people were probably only waiting for it from the time that Gearbox took it over. Time in development doesn't equal how long you've been waiting for it.[/quote]

What I meant was they had 14+ years to make it, and it ended up being terrible.

Duke Nukem not even an average game has depressing irony in the jokes it makes.
"power armour is for pussies" duke I don't care if it is, but you need to wear it as your weak as hell and ruining my fun shooting things.

Probably Duke Nukem: Forever. But I havn't played it. In fact, I've only played a couple of games that were launched in 2011.

Brink also seems like a good competitor for this grand prize. Since it sucked. Or well, that's what the people say.

Out of all of them? L.A Noire got me pretty is interested around the repetitive drug missions, so I'd go for that one. By know means bad, but the 'worst' I've played so far.

I'm going with modern warfare 3.
A) 'Thus Far'. MW3 isn't released yet. Please leave your hate bandwagon is departing in another thread.
B) Despite what somebody on the internet told you, hating Call of Duty isn't impressive, or indie. Women will not be impressed by your attempts to woe them with your radical, expressive, original and thought-provoking personality.
C) 'Baa!'
A.) Maybe he legitimately dislikes the Call of Duty games.
B.) Maybe he has played it.
C.) I have no C.

OT: I would have to say I'm really really really disappointed with....Hmmmm, I don't think anything I have played this year was truly terrible, there were some games that could have been better but all of them bring something in their own way.

Well, I'll go with what probably objectively could be considered the worst, and what I subjectively consider the worst.

Objectively: A tie
Brink. Bad AI? Check. Extremely limited content? Check. Glitches up the wazoo? Check. Boring? Oh good god CHECK.
Mindjack. Take everything from Brink, now make it worse.

Subjectively:
Homefront. This game, in my opinion, is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the game industry today. There is not one drop of originality in this thing, either in gameplay (perhaps one of the most uniform modern FPSs over this gen) or in story ("It's Red Dawn, but with Koreans!" was how this was fucking marketed.). The campaign could be finished in 4-5 hours. The characters where pretty much nonexistent. The only thing this game had going for it was is massive marketing campaign. And because of it, it sold over a million copies.

No idea how to actually start a sentence with this thing, I just want to know what people think this years worst game is (only list one you've actually played, no "all the reviews called it shit") and why. Personally I just tried Homefront. It is an ungodly piece of shit. A proverbial black hole from which no enjoyment can escape. Hilariously stupid plot, clunky controls, awkward feeling guns, pretty fucking few guns as well. I think the character of Connor and all of his actions speak for themselves, the useless piece of fucking garbage. Without going on all day I felt that it was easily the worst game I'd played all year, if not longer.

What's your pick?
I don't have time for "bad games"

Would much rather have "most under-appreciated games of 2011 so far"

Yeah, screww yo' thread, I'll make my own thread with hookers and blackjack... actually, forget the thread.

Battlefield 3.
Due to it coming from a acclaimed series with competent developers.
From the looks of the beta the game is a horrible imbalanced mess with stupid design decisions.

Well I only bought 2 2011 released games this year (everything else came from the bargain bucket) so I'm left with a choice between DA2 and 40K Spehss Mehrin.

Can't really pick between the 2. DA2 mainly suffered from hype letdown and it's only real downside is being the worst Bioware game so far. Space Marine i probably had/have more fun with but has less replayability and the multiplayer is buggy.

So its a tie. Which eans they're also my co GOTY. At least until Saints' Row the Third comes out.

inb4 "Duke Nukem Forever" oh too late. Fucking idiots. Duke Nukem Forever was fine. Wasn't great, sure, and was it disappointing after 14 years, of fucking course it was. But no game for the past five years has truly been "great," except maybe Portal, and no game will ever be worth a 14 year wait, except maybe Half-Life 3. Duke Nukem Forever hate makes me sad to be a gamer, because it was a legitimately entertaining and light-hearted FPS in a sea of mediocre combat sims and deserved to be treated better than it treated. Actually, I'd almost go so far as to say it's probably one of the best games of 2011, for me.

So far... worst game... hmm... I'm going to go ahead and say Terraria. It probably isn't that bad, but the whole cult following the game has undeservedly amassed makes me mad. IT'S 2D MINECRAFT WITH AN ENDGAME. YOU JUST RUINED EVERYTHING THAT MADE MINECRAFT SPECIAL - FREEDOM, AND ENDLESS CREATIVITY. And for some reason you make it in complete pixel-art. Why? You wanna know WHY? Because Minecraft did it and you're trying to be Minecraft. Eurgh, I hated that game.
Are you for cereal?

DNF was a massacre that was 10 years past it's prime, it was awful. Limited weapons, weapons that suited the exact situation (about to fight a boss? Here is a rocket launcher! Do you need a shotgun? Well here you go!), annoying as fuck engine sounds, really annoying/boring one liners.

Terraria is nothing like minecraft, the only thing they have in common is you start off making a house or shelter of some kind, after that there is nothing a like.

Firstly, terraria is a game and minecraft is a building sim not a game!. A game has goals set into it, beat the bosses/story/other people playing/whatever. A sim has no end, you could play minecraft for a billion hours and be no closer to the end, the same goes for train simulator, flight sims etc. You set your own goals in game but there is no winning it.

Oh sorry, you can craft in both games as well, although I would have to say the crafting in minecraft is crap (irony!), congrats you can make a pic axe with a bit of stone and some sticks but as far as I know you can't make your own potions etc. (I am not including mods in any of this 'cos you can mod anything to have anything)

I also have to mention infiniminer, the game with far too many "I"s in it ....

I think my choice for worstest game is obvious.

Brink gets my vote. The Parkour system seemed so cool, and then they did nothing with it. They were saying how it would open up new avenues of approach in the game, but there were a lot of places that they blocked off and didn't allow you to use parkour to get around. Basically, it limited what you could do and how you could do it to what the developers wanted, which was what the Parkour system was supposed to get away from.

Storyline was crap, and there weren't any characters.

I'm not seeing it on here, cause i don't think anyone was stupid enough to buy it, but trust me guys. Bodycount.

Don't ever. EVER. Play this game. I rented it cause I was a huge fan of Black, but this is NOTHING like Black. It's the retarded, inbred offspring of an 80's arcade game and Bulletstorm. There is an enemy unit in there that shares the same amount of polygons as the N64's Golden Eye models. I'm not kidding. These guys look like they're made of square chunks of painted polystyrene. It was so horrendously bad, I couldn't help but find it funny.

Though it's 4 hours of my life I'll never get back, I did bother to finish it, if only to see how much worse the trainwreck could get. Much worse, I assure. My final verdict was "better then Rogue Warrior, but way worse then Duke Nukem". Yeah. I don't think that was an honour the developers were looking to earn somehow.

erm erm really struggling here although my worst played game of the year would easily be Infamous (got it free from ps store) I dont think I have actually played a game that has been released this year that I would call bad, actually I have only bought 2 new games this year (my lowest in over a decade) and will only be getting two more tops as money is a bit tight.

so er portal 2 and if that stays as my worst game of the year well then this year has been a very very good year for new games (that I played).

I'm going with Brink, even though I never played it. I know that makes me sound like an ass, but I tired to play it. The game had so many bugs, I was completely unable to actually play the game. The menus didn't work right and everything seemed completely screwed up. I am not sure why it did that, but it is the only game to give me that issue, so it wins my vote.

Its a tie between Brink and Duke Nukem Forever. I only rented them to see how they would play, and was extremely disappointed by both. Not that many bad games this year I must say. Just a lot of disappointing titles.
