"No problem." She said, mulling over Jason's theory some. That did seem to be the case since there was a few moments of freaking out from him about it and still noone noticed. Still, if one of their abilities was inherently harmful, she doubted being unable to see the actual ability would protect them from the damage or stop them from noticing any damage to the surrounding area.
"Well, seems like everything is good now, plans being made and stuffs. I'm heading off now...especially since it smells like something got burnt. You can give me my bag back in homeroom if you need to Jason, it's the first day of school, i doubt i'll need it. Just don't destroy it...OH, and don't eat all of my snacks!", she said, pointing intently to her bag.
She turned away, waving back and saying, "Au revoir!", before heading off, taking the short way to the soccer feild.
----------
As suspected, there was practically nobody at the fields, neither football or soccer. Gail stretched and sat down, she had to take a second. A new school year was stressful enough without having to worry about powers and plans and crazy teachers. She needed some point, some inkling of normalcy, and falling back to this habit was an easy way to invoke that.
Truth be told, she didn't even know why she had been so intent on coming here in the first place. The only reason she could think of was to recalibrate herself and and come to terms with all this new crap that had been dropped on her head from this morning. She still found it hard to believe but at least part of her wanted to believe this stuff, that she had some sort of special power that she could use too...do what? Fight demons maybe? That seemed to be what that survey was hinting at, or, at least that was her interpretation of it. And now her new allies thought that their teacher was no good or at least, were wary of her and her intent. Gail's opinion didn't strech that far yet. She just learned a bit ago that these powers actually exist, while before she thought them to be the raving of a madwoman...didn't she say that the principal knew about this? How much does he truly know, and is he actually involved in this or is he just a puppet?
Gail put her hands on her head, pushing down on it in frustration. She couldn't think straight like this, she didn't know enough to think about this all at once. One thing at a time, first see about activating this power, then worry about the other stuff. Besides, the others had that covered. Quinn, Shiro, and Karen in particular seemed to know a bit more about this, just let them handle it for now, sit back and learn.
As she thought to herself, she became increasingly aware of an incessant buzzing around her head. She tried to swat away the fly or whatever it was, and it left for a moment before flying back and annoying her some more. She tried swatting it again, again it dodged, flew away, and came back. Finally she had enough and just kept flailing her arms, trying to swat it out of the sky, even grabbing some dirt and grass to make dodging harder for the stupid thing, trying to will the bug away or at least something to hit it. Finally, the buzzing stopped, although she hadn't noticed due to having thrown something else.
At first, she didn't realize what it was, looking at her hand to figure out what she had grabbed. It was when it hit the chain-link fence and had started coming back that she realized what it was. Her ability, it seemed, was to summon a glowing hula hoop...great (sarcasm). She obviously wasn't impressed by it, thinking of jumping through it to see if she could get a new power somehow...until it touched the ground and preceded to cut into it, sending dirt and grass flying everywhere, before it flew off into the air again. That impressed her some, maybe it wasn't just some hula hoop after all, maybe it was more akin to a flying blade of death instead...but she would need to stop it before it caused anymore damage to the surroundings. Luckily, it was coming back her way, all she needed to do was grab it and th-AH! JESUS CHRIST!
She reached out and tried to grab it from the middle, having moved to the side since catching something flying at you from the front was idiotic even with normal objects, much less spiritual ones, and was suprised to learn that she couldn't grab her own weapon as pain shot up her arm from where her fingers had touched it. She cried out and pulled her hand away, letting the blade fly by and hit the ground again. She checked the damage done to her hand, learning that while it hurt like heck, her fingers wern't cut too deep, having pulled them away fast enough to avoid the worst of it. She looked up to try to find the blade again, seeing it move erratically around the field. It slammed down into the ground again, carving a neat little C into the ground before stopping and flinging itself down the field, straight at her.
She tried holding out her hands and shouted, "Stop!", that barely slowed it, forcing her to jump out of the way. Still, she considered it a small victory that shouting had an effect at all. As it came back around she tried shouting in her native language, " Arrêter!", hoping to slow it down more. This didn't work as it came barreling down, missing her due to it's sheer erraticness as it slammed and bounced off the ground again. It occured to her that maybe just shouting wasn't working...maybe she had to concentrate and will it to stop.
She took a moment and emptied her head of all thoughts as the blade spiraled down the field. She decided to test her theory out by focusing this time and saying, "Come here."
The blade made a u-turn and flung itself at great speed, spinning towards her. Seeing that it worked well enough, she focused her mind and shouted, "STOP!", with as much force and thought as she could put into it, subconsciously throwing in a diagonal arm wave for flair and closing her eyes.
Sneaking a peak, she opened her eyes to see the blade hovering in front of her, wobbling some but otherwise staying in one spot. To say Gail was delighted was an understatement as she was within doing victory cartwheels until her hand reminded her otherwise. Looking at the blade, she realized that she couldn't just have it follow her or stay here, she needed to figure out how to get rid of it. She tried to remember how Karen did it, before willing it to dissipate. The blade disappeared at that thought and wkth that she took a look around. The field was a mess, with at least three cuts into it and dirt/grass flung everywhere...
'Um...run!', she thought to herself, not having a rational explanation for the state of thd field. She headed for the nurses office to get bandages for her fingers.
