"WHO THE FUCK SAID ANYTHING ABOUT KILLING THEMSELVES?! I JUST WANT TO GRIEVE IN PEACE!" she screamed, getting extremely angry.

"Just leave her alone," Alan said, getting mad at how distressed Jack was making her feel, "I'll keep a watch on her if it makes you feel better."

"I know the grief you're feeling more than you know Adries. It starts as grief, then it becomes despair, and right now you're doing as I did. You are lashing out at those that want to help, well go ahead because I will remain silent if you want me to, but I simply will not leave." Jack's tone left no room for argument.

"The only way I will leave you alone right now is if you shoot me."

Adries yelled at him, going on a cursing tirade. After a few moments she rushed past him and went inside the next office over. She closed the door and locked it. "What now!?" she yelled, taking a seat behind the desk and looking at the books on the shelf.

"Dude, just go. Your just making this worse. Not all people react in the same way as you. Thinking you know how everyone is," Alan muttered, burying his head in his arms again.

"I don't know how everyone is, but I know enough about her. I dealt with the loss of a mother, a shunning of my father, and his own death six months later. We are of nearly the same personality my friend, and if I took the deaths of two people so close to me six months apart so hard. Well, just imagine if you both lost your parents within days of each other. Tell me, how would your sister react, would she bury the pain and try to hide it from everyone? If the answer is yes then she should not be left alone because the chances of both your parents being dead is very high. The wrong reaction to the death of family is soldier on." Jack turned around and placed his long since bloodied suit jacket over the man's upper body and head.

"You may think of me what you will, but I am going to do what I can. She will have her time alone, believe me, but she does need to know that somebody cares enough to do what is best for her. Even if she hates me for the rest of her life as a result." Jack paused for a few seconds.

"I will see to it that he is given a proper burial at the school. You and your sister may attend or don't. I just wouldn't feel right leaving the family member of a teammate to the scavengers."

"Fine," Alan replied, "Don't tell anyone anything when you head back. Or at least don't tell them we found our father's body.

Adries cried like she had never cried before. Things like this she couldn't contain. Her inability to hide the pain reminded her of an episode of Six Feet Under, where Nate had said that, while traveling abroad, he had seen a family getting their dead loved one returned to him. Said that grieving should not be like how we do it in America, all quiet. But like how the people on his trip were so full of emotion at the death of a loved one. Adries cursed and yelled and cried.

Hayley and Jason made it back to the others, they walked into a room and saw Lisa and Ivan, and another strange woman.
"Sorry we took so long, we got lost..." Hayley said, staring at the woman from behind her dark fringe.

"I will say nothing of your father. I will just need help in getting him back to school. If you it is alright with you I will say he was an old friend of mine, and that should be enough to get him brought back. We will need to keep his face covered and remove showings of rank, as I think our spec ops friend wants his body as well. I will explain why if you wish, but I think it better you don't ask, I'm sure you already understand more than I do anyway." Jack said with a solemn tone to his voice as he bent down and moved their father's badge and rank markings into his pockets.

"I will find the badge and rank of some random officer and decorate the body with that rank. He will be buried as a chief though, for what little consolation that is."

Alan nodded. "Can I have his badge?" he asked, "For...memories sake I guess. I'm fine with you saying he was a friend and that is why he should be buried, but I know he'd want to be buried at the Bixler family lot in the cemetery. It's where we're all buried. All of us since Alexander Bixler first arrived."

"Here, have his badge and his rank. Keep the badge, and may I suggest burying one of his rank insignia in the family cemetery when this is over. I think a symbolic burial would be right up his alley, should his body not be able to be buried there. Perhaps give the second rank insignia to Adries. I don't know though, just my thoughts, do what you will with them." Jack respectfully handed over the badge and rank insignia.

Alan nodded, tucking the badge and rank into his jacket pocket. "Thanks," he muttered, "Should we move the beds some more? We've been gone awhile. Could get suspicious." He stood up and brushed himself off. He needed to do something other than grieve. Put any anger and sadness into work. 'It'll make me feel better,' he thought.

"You're right, we should mover them around a bit more. Do you think we should move your father's body, just in case our mutual problem decides to get a bit nosy? Oh and before I forget I would like to see the police mainframe in all her glory. Perhaps the cameras in the building were still working when the attack came. I also have a question I would like you to answer with the utmost candor. I would prefer it if you held nothing back and gave me your honest opinion on this." Jack waited for Alan to either agree or decline to answer before continuing.

"I say we just leave dad. Close and lock the door. I don't know where the mainframe is, you'd have to look at a map," Alan said, walking back towards where the bed was, "And for your question, I'll be honest depending on what the question is." He picked up the bed again and waited for Jack.

"Its nothing that would require you to give up any sensitive information, I just want your opinion." Jack paused for a few seconds thinking of what to say.

"My self-appointed mission of finding your aunt's notes and releasing them to the world, do you think its possible? I just don't know anymore." Jack sat on the bed but continued.

"I mean the farther we go the more it seems like this is a suicide mission, and I just can't bring myself to order or even suggest that they give up their lives for my personal quest. I just keep thinking I should get you all out of this city and then sneak back in to continue on my own. I don't even know if any of you even want to do this." Jack let out a chuckle.

"Maybe I should have left when I had the chance, when it would have been less painful for all involved. You all could have tried to find your families and escaped while I go on my suicide mission with maybe Ryan because of his condition. I'm not helping any of you in any way, and I just seem to get us all closer to death's grip every time I try and help. I mean all of you have survival skills. Lisa is basically a combat medic, Ivan is a walking tank, you are an expert in the field of what we both know caused this and a computer genius, Hayley is a sharpshooter and can fit into spaces smaller than any of us, We all know what Ryan can do, your sister is the glue holding this all together with her humor and intelligence, and I'm just the black horseman of the apocalypse with the seal half open. What the fuck have I ever contributed that none of you couldn't have? I just don't know anymore...I just don't know."

"I guess you're the leader. The adult in this situation. Basically the level-headed one everyone looks up to," Alan responded, taking a seat across from him.

"Honestly? I don't think you would be able to succeed by yourself. There is too much going on as of now that you do not realize nor understand. And, understand this: Adries and I are basically going to do our best to keep everyone from finding out the whole truth. Though, in the end I feel that there is no hope for us. Even with my guilty conscience I'm not telling you everything. If you want more of the truth try to get it out of Christie; she is here in this station for a reason.

Anyways, that's about as honest as I can get. I haven't been in this group long, but I know that you're needed. Now help me carry these beds back."

"Perhaps and...thank you." Jack got up to help moving beds. He spoke as he helped move beds.

"I'm not good at baring my soul to others, never have been. I figured you were my best choice because you have been here the least amount of time and, I presume, don't really like me. This would make you the most objective of all of them. I know I would never complete it on my own, but I can't help but feel if anyone is to die on a suicide mission it should be me. I apologize in advance for putting this on you, but events have made me more contemplative than usual. I have nothing to lose, others could easily fill my role, and this is my crusade not any of yours." Jack remained silent for a time.

"I don't expect anyone to give me all the answers, and I wouldn't be surprised if you shot me in the head if I do find your aunt's notes. I would only request that you allow me to leak the important information to the world. You could say you arrived just after I had and preserve whatever it is you're trying so hard to defend, and I would leave your family name out of the information so that it does not get dragged through the mud. I'm not out to punish or place blame, only warn in the hope that it won't happen again."

"...you talk way too much," Alan said with a chuckle, grabbing the bed and starting to move it. "I mean, seriously. Just chill. I think I might just force you into smoking some of my stuff just so you can mellow out," he continued, laughing, "Also, I wouldn't shoot you'd. I'd probably stab you with a needle filled with poison. It'll be easier to hide the evidence. I'll go all Agent 47 on your ass. Or I'll go the Dexter route. Both would be fun. Now get to helping me."

Jack laughed "Alright, Alright. Can't help that I talk too much though, always have. If there is one complaint I've gotten my whole life its that. Though I guess your poison idea would take care of that...see there I go again. Just helps me stay out of my own head is all." Jack went back to moving beds.

"Yeah, just tell me when you want a smoke and I'll let you have some. It'll wind you down, get rid of stress. Well, it does for me I guess," Alan said, bringing the bed all the way back to the main hall. He purposefully tried not to look at anyone, not being sure if he could hide his sadness.

"No thanks, I almost like the stress. Lets me know I'm not one of them, handing one's life over to logical thought doesn't leave much time for emotion. I can take solace in the fact it wasn't my science that destroyed the world like all those 20th century worry warts said it would. Almost hard to believe they thought the sky would light on fire or that we would blow ourselves to hell, huh?" Jack laughed a bit at that as he helped carry the bed.
