Ugh. yep. I've lived in Australia, England, and the Netherlands.

All of which have some variation on universal healthcare... And thinking anyone could consider that a bad idea in and of itself is bizarre.

Sure, these systems have problems, but I can't think of anything that's perfect.
It sure as hell sounds better than what you get in America.

Here's an interesting fact:
Tourist advice for Australians visiting America: Don't get sick!

Bollocks I could ask everybody I know which is in the hundreds of people and I bet that nowhere near 70% would be dissatisfied with the NHS. Fox News really should just be taken off the air. I know the media is prone to sensationalising but they just outright lie most of the time.

I don't mind the NHS being restructured completely, but I don't want to have to pay for it in the way Americans have to. I'd much rather have the money taken from taxes. The NHS is not weakened by being state run.

I'm pretty happy with the NHS. It's not perfect but then what healthcare system is? At least they don't charge you for cleaning the sheets when you die on a hospital bed.

I've heard France has an excellent healthcare system but that it is rather expensive.

But if FOX news and MSNBC weren't around, whatever would Jon Stewart do?
Indeed...in a perfect world, we would not need Jon Stewart... (and I don't think the man has any alternatives in say acting or stand up...)

That's bullshit! Most people in England rely on the NHS 100% for healthcare. That poll has been twisted somehow

And then after this they proceeded to tell you how Obama made a pact with the spirit of Lenin through an Islamic ritual to bring communism to America?
Well it was all done fairly quickly. Under the guise of a foreign handshake which, on closer examination, appears to be the elusive "terrorist fist-bump" [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-TG6jorKfs].
Did you read any of the comments on that video? Regular youtube trash yes, but, there was a gem:
At the very moment Obama's campaign began, someone tossed a pile of straws at Fox News and said "Here, start grasping."

That link more than made my day, thank you so much.

OT, the UK health system isn't a perfect system, but, it's gives the population something to continuously complain about, the the UK population loves to complain, so it's perfect for us.
What?!! Can't you Unity Kingdomites be normal and complain about illegal aliens and queer marriage like the rest of us!!?

You didn't think over what you wrote did you? Just heard this on Fox.

Also I don't know anyone who doesn't like the health care.

Don't listen to murdoch bullshit, just because they are against the healthcare reform they are happy to come up with biased statistics. I'm not just saying that because i'm English and a big fan of the healthcare system (and it has saved my life before) as well as being extremely good with both of my parents and sister. Oh, and all of my friends are quite happy they don't have to pay for healthcare as well.

Don't get me wrong we complain about that to, but, the more we have to complain about the better, stops it becoming repetitive. I mean we also have weather, public schools, politicians, government buildings, fuel prices, politicians, money. Just a lot to keep it all nice and fresh.

Just heard this on Fox. Apparently 70% of people living in England, Australia, France, Germany and New Zealand want to, and I quote "Dismantle their health care system and start anew." Yes, I know this is bullshit but I'm curious how people of these nations feel about our media's portrayal of them, especially with all this health care hoo ha going on right now. Funny? Sad? Offensive? Also, do you know any people from any of these countries that actually do want to "dismantle the health care system and start anew."?
Don't believe anything you hear about how people in these countries feel which comes from an American source. Seriously, especially Fox. It's all propaganda, I've never met anyone who truly hates the NHS. Most people here like it.

My mom doesn't like the health care that much in holland. *shrugs*

BTW, you can't take news media seriously.
One will say, "today obama shat a golden gold brick and ended world poverty"
the other will say "today obama caused world poverty"

CNN and Fox news, you know who you are.

Hahaha Fox News. I don't even need to explain it then do I.

It's like Democracy, no one likes it but no one wants to trade it in yet. There isn't much better on offer.

The way you make it sound...It's like you can't wait for the zombie apocalypse and robot overlords. You all would think you'd died and gone to heaven.

Wait, would heaven include electing Sarah Palin? Or does that just cross the line...

Herein lies your problem. I'm a New Zealander and I have no complaints. Sure they could do with more funding but I blame the politicians for that, not the health services.
You might want to add a source if you can find one, by the way.
Our portrayal is probably not very important. Most people haven't heard of us. Yes the are spreading misinformation but I think the presence of other, bigger names does that more effectively than mentioning us.
Hmm something on fox being blown out of proportion or made up, heaven forfend, lest us forget the mass effect sex contrivicy. I like the nhs, oh and to put this into perspective, Sarah Palin said that if Stephen Hawking when to the nhs he would be dead, even though, he was treated by the nhs, and actually says that he owes his life to the nhs.

think I'll just whitenoise this thread up even more by repeating that fox news is full of crap, and that the UK's health care system is very good, but could be improved.

what, there's about eight people in the UK who want to dismantle the NHS. one of them was shouted at by David Cameron. if the conservative party is shouting at you for being too biased towards the free market, you know you're fucked in the head.
