GOOD. I dont want an "ASSASINS FER AMURICA" game. I want people to push the envelope and get past this juvenile "I'm good, you're bad" rut that gaming is in.
Because the imperialistic British were in the right for forcing their government on the colonies?

OP:Does this mean people will stop making a fuss over red coats being killed?
So just for argument's sake...Say Hawaii or Texas got tired of the rest of America forcing their government on them and wanted to create their own country...You'd totally let them right?

[HEADING=3]That is the biggest load of hooey I have ever seen.[/HEADING]

That video was just a couple minutes' exercise in overstating mundane things, and it has done nothing to impress me at all.
Aren't all trailers like that in this day and age? (The ones that actually have narration and aren't just two minutes of an art students fever dreams that have nothing to do with the game at all. Or CG trailers)

You do realize the game is made by Ubisoft, a french company, and that the french traditionally don't really like the Americans that much.
Well to be fair the American Revolution was pretty closely tied with the French Revolution. Mutual respect for the conspirators and all that jazz.

To be fair, the British were fairly prickish in that era.

The .gif looks pretty good from a technical standpoint.

What I don't understand is why Americans being killed in a game set in America is a big thing. People die, who gives a shit about where they're from?

You don't even have to bring up a hypothetical. We've already had a Civil War due to succession.

not sure if i remember my history correctly, but texas was their own country at some point, and then joined the US.

I think it was more about the fact that the colonists felt like second class citizens. No taxation without representation and all of that jazz.

That's what I was getting at...It's hypocritical to say that the British were "evil", "bad", "wrong" or anything else when America and almost any other country would do the same.

That gif looks awful, I sincerely hope it's just due to the video being put into gif form.

Also, he stabbed a guy with his gun then shot it. LOLWAT
That's the actual quality of the game.

Second point. BRING ON THE AWESOME. CANT WAIT TO STAB-SHOOT SOME COLONISTS TOO.

In new AC3 Trailer Americans die
Patriots, not Americans. Big difference.

As for the video, good. Ubisoft said they weren't taking sides so it's about damn time.

Patriot - A person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors.

Since they are fighting against their country in a revolutionary movement, they would be traitors at this point. Patriots after they have founded a nation (and invaded Canada) of course.

We didnt treat the southeners as second class citizens, in fact the government was trying to legally force an end to slavery and they resisted. This change would apply to all citizens and the change was being applied in the system, the system which also included the southeners.

I am not saying we WOULDNT. Honestly it would depend on the issue (it would have to be something in the grey area), and if there is even a whiff of foreign involvement/foul play we would come at them hard. More likely we would pull funding and support until they agree to come back.

Personally, i like canada's method for dealing with possible succession. The politicians have a snow ball fight.

I dont think any state can be self sufficient anymore. Best bet is the northern states (great lakes, lots of farmland) but they would never pull away from the country.

I think the OP is going for the exact opposite, actually. People have been complaining that the game seems to be really one-sided, what with the decidedly pro-American promotion going around. (For some reason, people were actually BLAMING Americans for this, even though the game is made by French people. But I digress.) I'm fairly certain the OP is saying "See? There are American bad guys too, just like they said there would be!"
French people? The game is made in Montreal. Montreal is in Canada. People who live in Montreal are Canadians not French.
Ah. Well, I will admit, I did absolutely no research to back up that claim. BUT they do SPEAK French in Montreal, do they not?
Sure. They probably speak English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Swahili, Hindi, Korean, Italian, Japanese as well. I've met people who've lived in Montreal their whole life and could barely speak french.

Either way they're not "french people". At worst they're quebecois.
OK. OK. I see your point. But would I be correct in saying that, whatever they are, they are not Americans?[footnote]A quick clarification, as I realize that these things sometimes do not translate well through the internet: I am being rhetorical here. If you already knew that, I apologize for wasting your time with this superfluous text.[/footnote]

Well finally. Its a start at least. The dead British:American count is still at least 2:1, but its a start. I'll bet money most every antagonist will be British.
