so no drinking....Schneizel said:No, honey. You see, there's this magical force in the world that makes it objectively wrong for you to see certain things. Therefore, it's an either/or: those things being banned or you being banned until you're eighteen.Kingcallum said:I'm the most mature thirteen year old I know....
....which isn't saying much...
....so can I be allowed on the interwebz?
Like I said, we on the Escapist seem to know better. I don't agree with the morons who think seeing a few cocks is bad for kids, but said morons run the world, so we have to act like it makes sense and work that way. So, our choices are ban children or ruin the internet.Kingcallum said:so no drinking....Schneizel said:No, honey. no fun...
no clubs.....
no sex.......
no jobs......
no legal rights.....
until i'm eighteen because some people are not mature enough at my age?
OK that seems fair.
Ask your parents, the fact that people like us (internet folk) are in any way responsible for what you do in your spare time is the problem to begin with.joshuaayt said:I'm sixteen, but have an entire, functioning brain. May I be included in this new internet?
Wait...Carlos Mencia...did something I can respect him for?Straying Bullet said:Amen, Carlos Mencia once burned a woman in his show by saying it's her responsibility as a parent to educate their offspring to become a functioning member of the society.Onyx Oblivion said:These people can't seem to understand that...IT'S NOT THE WORLD'S JOB TO RAISE YOUR CHILDREN AND PROTECT THEIR INNOCENCE. I disagree. Inconveniencing children is, to me, a far better solution to the "problems" parents talk about than interesting concepts like chatroulette being banned for everyone.Soylent Bacon said:Preventing anyone from annoying selfish players or from "corrupting their minds" is not worth cutting them off from Youtube, Wikipedia, social networks, etc.
Its not out fault dammit, 'teh interwebs' has ruined the imagination, creativity and sheer bloody mindedness required, as our forebears did to get a playboy mag....deadman91 said:They're not smart or organised enough anymore.Onyx Oblivion said:The old-fashioned way? Voyeurism, dirty magazines, and late night cable TV.deadman91 said:But then where will under age kids get their porn?

You would be deriving minors from a much more important part of their life than something like smoking. Most importantly, people need the internet for school assignments. It also would be very unfair to cut them off from a vast number of sources of entertainment, knowledge, and even a large portion of our culture.

dude, they have libraries with lines of actual BOOKS and if they absolutely need the internet, the library has restricted access to teh internetz that will bring up anything they need.
