Child Beauty Pageants: Your thoughts?

Completely idiotic. The only thing they do is lower the self esteem of the contestants, and encourage hostility. They really should just die. The only reason they still exist is because of the people you described. Parent pathetically trying to live vicariously through their children, most liekly due to their dreams of being models going unfulfilled.
Its sad. Most of the kids dont want to do this but the parents force them.

Great way to turn your kid into a preppy brat.. I swear the TV is going to the bird-brained, if it wasn't there already. These 40 year old women who are "coaching" their daughters must be pretty nuts to think entering their daughter in this is a good idea, and then yelling at their kid for doing bad and INSULTING THE OTHER ONES!? People need to stop living life through their offspring and GET THEIR OWN!!!

A perfect example of Stockholm Syndrome. (Look it up.)
These kids are dieted and fit into tight dresses so often that they begin to accept it. How can that happen? These kids arent even old enough to ride quite a few roller coasters, yet their parents think that it's normal for kids to do these things. And need I bring up that time a 4-year-old girl was tasered to death because she hosted one of these? Child beauty pageants are F'd up, plain and simple.

They're messed up. They put the mindset that beauty is everything to a child at a impressionable age, and grow up into a selfish jerk alienating anyone who isn't worthy to them.

Well I already find kids ugly and unworthy of my attention anyway, so I rather consider these beauty pageants yet another waste of my valuable lazing time, rather like reality television (dating in the dark... I mean really?).
Perhaps they should be banned. The one thing I can't stand is a waste of time, and especially one where mothers want their child to become extraordinarily rich and famous (here's something to think about: Name a famous child beauty pageant winner. Actually, try and name just a child beauty pageant winner. You can't can you?).
