Kadence tilted her head. It was a little hard for her to imagine but she did try. "I'm sorry." She offered again. She was about the say more when the waiter returned with their food. He set down the two bowls of stew, two plates of bread, and two glasses of water, then hurried off to help the next customer. Kadence pulled the stew closer and waited for it to cool. Garret sat up from his spot on the ground and leaned closer to his partner as he sniffed the air. Vegetables did not interest him though so he lay back down.

"I just wonder how they even expect to find the ruin, we dont even have a vague clue unless the Guards have information given when we sign up for the quest, its strange how everyone can just drop everything to go gallavating in the countryside, my father wont put up with Foreigners freezing to death on his land in search for some ruin and i doubt others up North would ethier"

She called over a waitress of soughts and ordered a drink for herself and a slab of meat for the bear

"Not to mention the bandits, this Quest will bring more trouble than good, but still, greed is a powerful motivator, and i admit i was interested as well"

The waiter returned and put her drink on the table as she nervously places the meat near the bear.

The bear grunted in satisfaction before Mawling it with his large jaws.

Prudence stared at the meal for a minute before taking the spoon and trying it. The stew wasn't as good as anything she had had at home or Durkon's, but it wasn't bad. The bread and water was, well, bread and water. "Don't be," she said after a taste of everything. "I made my decision, and I got my consequences. Then I made a few more, and those might have been a mistake. I shouldn't have hurt Bishop or stolen these books." Plus the money, she added in her head. "You were right. My father will likely send someone to get me now. I just hope they hire Durkon, again." She went back to the stew.

"It's not just greed that could bee seen as a motivator, though. Many are eager for change, adventure, and fame. These ruins aren't just ruins, they're more like relics of this lands past, or at least that's the impression I've gotten." Lev replied, leaning back in his chair.

He looked out the window at the bustling streets, taking note of the length of the shadows to account for how far the sun had progressed over the heavens.

Kadence dipped her bread into the stew. She ate a few bites of the bread and then picked up the spoon lying next to the bowl to eat some of the stew properly. It was better than the stew at some of the other taverns she had been to. The vegetables were fresh and it was nice and hot. The glass contained cool water, which helped balance out the temperature of the stew.

"If they hire Durkon perhaps he will leave you be." Kadence said before eating a few more bites of stew. Then she realized something about Pru's statement. "You injured your father's Companion?"

Prudence put down the spoon with guilt. "Yeah," she said sadly. "Yeah, I cut his wing with my rapier. I just needed to get away, and he was following me and, well, I struck him down. I felt so sorry for doing it and I apologized to him, and he should heal oh kay. I hope."

"Ah." Kadence thought about her mother's Companion and hoped that the owl would heal as well, despite the creature's attitude toward her friend. She finished off the remaining bread and took a sip of water from the glass. Her bowl of stew was already halfway emptied.

The two didn't much but eat for the rest of the meal, and didn't really engage in conversation, either. When she was done, Prudence looked at the bowl and wondered what she should do. What happened that time with Durkon? We got up from the table and left the plate here, I think. Not sure of her own memories, though, she sat in silence and waited for Kadence to tell her what was customary.

Kadence finished her stew and put the bowl and spoon on top of the empty bread plate. She finished the water and placed the glass next to the plate. She gestured to the stack when she saw that Pru was finished with her food. "The waiter will get the plates when we pay for the meal." she told Pru. She reached down to tap Garret's head again so that he would move. Then she took a small leather pouch from her pack and held it in one hand as she waited for the waiter to stop by their table.

"A-alright." Prudence untied the pouch from her waist and held it as well. "How much does it cost?" she asked Kadence, as she hadn't an idea of prices.

"Probably a few silver each." Kadence replied.

The waiter looked over and noticed the empty plates on the table. He weaved through the chairs and standing customers of the tavern to where Kadence and Pru sat. With one hand he gathered the plates into a single stack and picked the combined stack up, a move which showed how long he had been waiting on tables.

"That'll be 8 silver for the both of you." he told them.

Seems expensive for one meal, she thought, begrudgingly collecting eight silver coins from the bag and placing them on the table. Sue flew over to inspect the coins for a second or two, before flying back to Prudence.

Kadence started to say something but stopped when the waiter quickly took the coins. The young man thanked the ladies then bowed slightly and left. Kadence looked over at Pru. "Um...thanks...I'll pay you back later." she said. She hadn't expected the girl to pay for the entire meal. Kadence stood and picked up her pack from the ground. Scooting the chair in closer to the table with one foot she shouldered the pack. Garret stood up and positioned himself beside of his partner.

"Hm?" Pru thought it over real quick. That's why it was expensive! It was for the both of us! I must have heard him wrong. "Um, alright, I guess." She grabbed her pack and stood up as well. Then she lugged it onto her back, and retied her coin pouch back onto her inner waist. The two of them started back towards the entrance.

Kadence opened the door again when they reached the tavern entrance. Garret stepped outside followed by Pru, with Sue flying behind them. Kadence shut the door after she stepped outside. The group walked down the street and toward Durkon's place. Kadence stayed behind Pru as she didn't recall exactly where the man lived.

Sue flew back onto Pru's shoulder, as she usually did, and the four of them continued on. Prudence looked around at a few odd things on the way, most of them normal occurrences.

Sai put a few silver on the table for the Ale and a tip. "Don't worry about paying, it's on me." She said to Zestia. "C'mon I'm sure our tavern girl friend is already waiting for us." She said walking out the door, Kia close behind. As they made their way to the apothecary, they walked by the main gate. Sai turned her head in time to see the tavern girl. She was breathing heavily and looked to be in a panic. Sai ran up to her and out a hand on her shoulder. "Everything all right?" She asked the poor girl.

By the time Kadence and Pru reached Durkon's place the sun was starting to set. Kadence knocked on the door twice then stepped back. Garret sat beside of her. After a few minutes he yawned.

They heard a lumbering behind the door before it flew open, with Durkon standing there. "Hello?" he asked before he saw them. "Ah! Good afternoon, you two." Durkon pulled Prudence and Kadence into the shop. "What can I do for you?"

"Well..." Kadence glanced at Pru. "I could actually use a whetstone, if you happened to have one for sale." she told the man. As she spoke Garret settled down near the door of the shop. Having been in the shop before he was comfortable with straying from his partner's side. The wolf yawned again after lying down.
