You are both right & it could have gone have gone horribly wrong for me but I was lucky in that there were still quite a lot of people on the train. Thing that bothers me the most in a situation like this is that people are unwilling to stand up to little nobbers like this especially when there is safety in numbers even when you are strangers...

As for him being a punk just hold on a sec... check the name & respect accordingly lol :p

If I am ever in this situation I will steal this idea and say it was my own.
I'd be honoured :D

Wow, someone from the Hemel Hempstead area on this site (Watford or Kings Langley by any chance? Depends if you were on the fast train or not).

I grew up there and managed to escape to the Midlands countryside a few years back.

Yep, I totally understand your pain. Large towns within 30 miles of London are all the same, buckets of attitude with minimal grasp of the English language. Chavs should all be executed!

I only wish I'd have pulled off something like this in my time there...........you did well!

That's just the thing there really isn't safety in numbers if you are with strangers. I got a kick in by 5 or 6 chavs in the middle of the day, on a busy street and people passed by like I was in the fucking Good Samaritan story!

Yup, I've actually done something like this to some of my friends.

My friend was being a beligerant drunk one night, and when I embarassed him in front of alot of people he tried to fight me, or at least intimidate me into letting him know how cool he is. So amongst the commotion the bartender kicked us out. I was the DD that night and was driving around two other people as well. When we got to the car I told everyone they could get in except my friend that tried to fight me. I left him down town in the middle of winter with no money and a dead cell phone. When I told him he wasn't going to get a ride he went from being defiant, to disbelief, to angry. He also threatened to kick my car if i left him, but he didn't. He's never pulled that shit again.

Well done man. An ode to the glory that is individual headphones? Absolutely. Reminds me of the benefits of knowing the tech guys and the janitors by name--you get things a lot faster, and you get things a lot easier. Like software, or trial copies of things, or getting doors unlocked at night so that I can finish some work. I know a guy who was mean to a janitor. They rarely take out his trash as a result.

I wish I could say that I would have done the same thing in your position, but I think I'm too nice to do something like that.

Nothing like that has ever happened to me before. But hats off to you for doing that.

Trust me I've been in that situation many a time myself & got many a scar to prove it. Not to suggest you had a choice in the incident you are speaking of but I tend to choose my battles very carefully nowadays because I have the experience in dealing with certain situations. Even with it being a spontaneous thing I knew there were other people present & that there was only one of him. Had there been a group of them or had it been much later I wouldn't have even entertained the thought of getting them off a the same stop as me but would have just thought it would have been a funny thing to do

Nice. I would have given you more points if you shouted back at him "WOT!? I can't hear you over this book I'm reading!"

Dude you rock haha

My one wasn't so much revenge as an epic burn. I was on a date with this girl once and we were sat down in a park when something hits me in the back. I turn around to find two chavs (For those who don't know, a chav is a British term for sort of wannabe "gangstas") behind me and a rock on the floor behind me. Now I wasn't in the best mood anyway and these guys had done this mid-date, so I was pretty pissed. Oh btw they had completely shaved heads which will make sense in a minute

Chav 1 "What!?"
Me: "Did you throw that?"
Chav 2 "No, I did, you wanna fight about it"
Me: "Not particularly, I am with a girl, you seen one before?"
Chav 1 "She doesn't wanna be wiv you, you have long hair!" (I really don't)
Me: "Well you look like a lukemia victim"
Chav 2 "MY MUM DIED OF LUKEMIA!" (She probably didn't)
Me: "Good. No more breeding for her then. Let's go love" We leave and I feel pro ;)

So I've just finished work & I'm on the train going home. It's 9 o'clock in the evening I'm tired & I just want to read my book. A teenager around 15/16 comes bowling onto the train D&B music blaring on his phone without headphones & parks his carcass opposite me. I look up & this is how the series of events goes

Me 'Mate, can you turn that off or down I really don't want to listen to it'
Teen 'WOT?'
Me 'I said can you turn it down. I'm trying to read.'
Teenager 'Why should I?'
Me 'How about consideration of others? I doubt anyone else wants to listen to it'

Teen looks me up & down makes some 'tst' noise then carrys on bopping to his music
My story starts roughly the same way.

My old housemate asked an idiot on the bus to turn the music on his phone down. When he gave her a load of abuse in return, she casually reached forward, took the phone out of his hand and threw it out the window of the moving bus. Legend has it that his response was "oi, what d'you do that for, I only nicked that yesterday".

From Kings Langley myself. Much nicer area but never anything going on.
Think you are about the third person to say you are/were from HH. Quite cool when you think about it

EDIT1: I think I quoted the wrong person sorry

HAHA. You posted the same story in the first thread I created on here. Pretty much a similar subject about arseholes playing loud music on trains & busses.

I might say that what you did was rude and uncalled for, but you pulled it off so fucking well that I want to pat you on the back. I'm with you on that music blaring thing as well. Haven't we advanced enough as a society to not hear whatever crap somebody decides to pump into their skull every time we go out in public?

His phone then rings & after listening to him butchering the english language it becomes evident he isn't sure when his stop is but I know the area well enough to know its 2 stops after mine

I go to get up for my stop & just as I'm about to get off the train

Teen 'OI is tis 'emel?'
Me 'Yeah'

Teen then jumps off the train as the doors are closing, realises that he isn't at Hemel Hempstead

Teen 'You f***ing prick this int emel'
Me 'Don't you wish you'd turned your music down? Next train is an hour, enjoy the wait'

I walk off with a torrent of abuse following behind me knowing nothing the little douche could say would top what I'd just done to him. Felt slightly guilty but smug as a bastard for taking the opportunity to exact some small & petty revenge.

So the question to you escapists is, have you ever experienced something like this? Someone acting like a dick to you & you getting your own back in some opportunist manner?
You're my hero.

Chavs are everywhere, they just go by different names...
I gladly add to the wave o' praise!!!

EDIT: I regret to say that I have never had the oppourtunity to do somthing this awesome, but I have a story from a relative...

His friend went to college, got a job at a renessiance fair as a knight. Long transit on the train, so he wore an trenchcoat to avoid wierding anyone out.

12pm transit back, in an empty car.
A scruffy wannabe comes back from the front car, closes the door, and whips out a knife.
"I got six inches of steel that says you're going to give me your wallet", he mutters.
"I'll see your six, and raise you thirty", says the friend, as, with a straight face, he offed his trenchcoat and drew his sword.
That wannabe stayed out of the subways for months after that.
