I'm not normally a big animal rights protester, but I had this fowarded to me and nearly threw up in complete and utter revulsion. Don't watch this video if you get sick easily. Its a video on the chinese fur farms and the horrible things happening there. They have been skinning the animals alive, which they say is "for a better cut". I apologise deeply if this offends anyone but it really should, this has to be stopped. Im not asking for signatures or anything I just want to throw this out there.
Anyway here's the link, again don't watch if you have an easily upsetable stomach. http://www.peta.org/feat/ChineseFurFarms/index.asp
Mods: If this video is too graphic please tell me.
Uh, you know how they process kosher meat right? its a lot more fun.
No, how do they process it?
they strap a chain to the leg of the cow, and then the rabbi cuts his throat, and then they fling the cow upside down using the chain and begin skinning the thing and processing it while it's bleeding out.
I agree with that about as much as I agree with the fur farm.

[HEADING=1]A QUICK LESSON IN ECONOMICS:[/HEADING]

If you don't like what they do to little animals, don't buy fur... It's called free market.
My family don't like pollution, we don't have a car.
It's not like your money is being used to slaughter critters and if we all stop buying furs, they'll have to stop.

On a side not, go to a pig's shaughterhouse, it'll make you a vegetarian in no-time.
I don't buy fur, but I strongly disagree with the still living part of this topic. I don't hate the fur trade in itself, I hate the illegal part of it and when it's endangered species being skinned. But thats not an issue I'm getting involved in.

I'm a vegetarian animal rights activist and I hate PETA.

This video sickens me and I couldn't watch more than 2 seconds before I had to turn it off.

This is why I'm so cynical at times and I've lost almost all faith in humanity.
Once again, Norman Borlaug.

Do some damned research before giving up on your own damned species. Tell me when a turtle cured small pox or when an ostrich created the vaccine to polio, until animals pwn humans they're food to me. Except bunnies and penguins (since they did their duty), animals are for my nomming.
I said, "at times, I'm cynical" and "almost all faith in humanity"

There are still good people in the world.
The majority of people in the world are good. The bad only get better press.

Quick, tell me what you know about Norman Borlaug.
Now...Quick, tell me what you know about Adolf Hitler.
Norman Borlaug was born in 1914 (not sure when. Pretty sure it was in March) and died recently on Sept. 12, 2009. He was a humanitarian and was the "Father of the Green Revolution." He won the Nobel Peace Prize for his contributions to the world food supply and made plants more disease resistant and was a great person.

Adolf Hitler killed over 10 Million people during WWII (6 Million Jews. The rest were made up of every other race.)
He was an asshole who wanted to become the God in a new world.
Fun Fact about mean ol' Hitler: He was a vegetarian and animal rights activist yet ate meat on special occasions as not to be rude to his hosts.
I wasn't being literal. :p

Not many people know about Norman, plenty know about Hitler and Dahmer and etc etc.
I know, I just wanted to see your reaction when I showed that I know who he was.

And, I do see your point. People in general do know more about Hitler, John Wayne Gacey, Ted Bundey, and so on, but that's why I like to study more about the good people in the world rather than be one of those people who sits around all day watching Cold Case Files and I Survived...

Ahem i smell "schleichwerbung" for PETA...and actually this both has to stop. Needless cruelty and PETA.

"Im not asking for signatures or anything I just want to throw this out there."

that reminded me of the guys on the street: "No don't give me money we don't take it - Here's a flyer (link) with all info and account data if you really want to help us..."...HAHA

"I'm not normally a big animal rights protester,(...)" ahem then what the hell are you doing on the PETA website?

jeez...let me alone with this bullshit. oh and the escapist too please...
maybe you start focusing on "human"-problems and when they are solved; there's time for
cleaning fur farms...
Um mate? Im just an escapist. I represent PETA in no way shape or form. I just had something fowarded to me which I found repulsive and thought I'd let others know about, don't be so paranoid.

Sorry man, i'm a little sensible about PETA...

...If i was wrong i apologize, i didn't meant to offend you. I just have a problem with this organization and their ways of handeling topics and people.

And yeah, i also find skinning animals alive is absolutely repulsive and cruelty without any sense...that has to stop.

But on the other hand humans have way more value to me as animals and many people on this planet really suffering...so logically i would spent my energy to help them first.

If those chinese guys had better circumstances...they maybe had taken another job and animals would have a benfit too...a chinese law against animal cruelty?...

so we should start focusing on helping our fellow humans.

I couldn't watch it. I really couldn't. I just...its just...why...? Why would they do this? I don't see a point to it, I really don't. It just makes me sad to know that stuff like this goes on, and has been going on, and will continue to go on. At least, smash its skull in or something. Even that is more humane than skinning the poor things alive.

They are animals. We are humans. We are not ending a life, we are harvesting a resource. It is maternal instinct to sympathize with this kind of animal. I want a pet one now :p. If the were the core-lizard farm, no one would be complaining.

Ok... could not continue to watch that half way through.... shit man, that is sick.

The least you could ask for is that the thing be dead before it had to go through that.

Well, while I do not agree with alot of things PETA stands for, I think we can agree this is an abomination.

I mean I heard accounts of one asian family that plucked the feathers off birds and not kill them so that they would be fresh for dinner. The reason they gave about not killing the birds: it would cost them ice to keep them fresh.

We have to remember that this is Communist China, its another world entirely. Its a land where wanted posters in the cities also have notes on them reading: need not apply if your 30 or over. In such a place it is easy to imagine people going to the extremes, to this.

There are things we as consumers can do to stop this. We can refuse to buy fur from producers who use inhumane techniques such as this the same way we can refuse to buy blood diamonds that could potentially fuel a bloody war in Africa.

The choice is ultimately yours.

What a nice attempt to turn a discussion about animal cruelty into something completely unrelated.
so you're calling Chinese people animals?!

Sorry, I lost a lot of respect as soon as your post had "PETA" in it. (I'm referring to the OP's link.)
I understand that animal rights are a big issue, but there's a few things wrong with this statement. One, PETA wrote it. PETA is one of the dummest organizations out there. They've throw paint on people who wear fur coats. In some people's cases, they throw paint on faux fur coats.
PETA takes things and twists them to make them seem worse a lot of times, to be honest.
Also, since this is in China, I'm not surprised. In China, if you have a daughter, you're not obligated to treat her as well as your son. (Please note that this is more so in the rural parts of China. Most modern provinces try to stay clear of this mindset.)
Basically, China's got a lot to learn. Sure I'm digusted, but what can we do about it? It's up to the person's own country to decide what does and does not qualify as animal rights.

Yeah. Kids dying of starvation "Out there". Off in Ethiopia (not to bash Ethiopia). There are dogs dying of starvation "right here". So yes, let's worry about the dogs. I sure as fuck don't plan to drag your ass out of a burning building, so you'd best make the dogs happy.
When have you ever heard of a dog actually dragging someone out of a burning building?

I hear human beings do it all the time, even have people completely dedicated to the job, now what were they called... firemen?

Say, did you hear that story the woman who passed out from taking too many sleeping pills when her pet dog ATE HER FACE!!! Yeah, ripped all the flesh off.

Well... I know there's a joke in there about "MAN's best friend" but seriously her fucking face, shit like that has put me off owning a dog for life.

On topic: Why those Chinese guys don't just shoot those animals and be done with it I have no idea. It doesn't make any sense.
Also... youtube will host depraved stuff like that yet they go nuts when they see some boobies? Crazy world.

1) This is PETA
2) Animals are not human, they do not have the same though process and mental development that we do. With that said yes the video is disgusting and does show the severe sociopathic traits of the skinners.
3) This is one video from one source on the internet that's on a planet with a population >6 billion people. These actions while lamentable will always happen and do not need to be put on display as some gaudy rally point. Those who wish to enact a change will do find others with there same goals and do not need this to remind them because THEY ALREADY KNOW.

As soon as I saw that the OP had linked to a PETA video I lost any and all interest in this, namely because there's a very good chance that the skinners were infact PETA members themselves. Or that they payed the skinners to skin the animal(s? haven't actually watched the video) alive, either way it wouldn't be the first time PETA did something like this.
Ever see the Penn and Teller episode on PETA?

They scare me pretty bad :p.

I also don't believe Global warming is real and that your mother had sex with your father more than once, just so you can assassinate my character with abit more accuracy.
The worst part here is I don't know if you are fucking with me or not ;).

Because I know people who really don't believe in Global Warming but then I don't know people who really believe that parents haven't had sex more than once.

Mainly because I'm sure there were a few failed attempts ;).
I brought you a cookie, it has chocolate chips and several shards of depleted uranium shaped like a point, because you fucking missed it.

Noob.
Should I provide you with an address or should I just assume that you'll be mailing them to the nearest person who reminds you of me?

I could probably pay off my college with that uranium. :) Just a thought.
This is the stereotypical response, deny the point or deny the pointer, I don't mind people being ignorant, but atleast try to identify with my points.

Also, Global warming: The fear. Good luck proving it.

I nearly didn't watch the video in the first place due to the PETA factor, but regardless of an otherwise retarded organisation this is sickening. I really dislike the mindset of PETA but I'd rather have the world run by PETA then by these disgusting people.

When he was beating it out like a rug I laughed, hard. When he started skinning it I turned it off, because it was boring.

On topic: I suppose it's cost efficient to do it this way, and a better product would increase profit margins.

Can't say I feel disgusted though.
